Hades was never represented accurately in media, he is either a scary looking demon or a young dark emo (doesn't even have a beard wtf?) .... I know games/movies/stories based on mythology shouldn't be limited by it ,but wouldn't it be nice to see a mythologically accurate hades for once ? Well atleast this one has his infamous helm of darkness which many other incarnations of him seem to abandon despite it being a sympol of him
This is one of the best opening cutscenes in video game history. It shows that Kratos isn’t the whole world, he is a part of it. The amazing visuals, fluid motions, and designs are what amazes me to this day. You can see they really put time into this. Also, the coloring is amazing.

At one part, when Kratos is climbing the mountain, it does show Hades in the background, pulling one of the titans back down to the bottom. Other than that, you don't get to see him again until you fight him of course.

What a setting. A battle on the side of the mountain of the gods as you battle deities upon the backs of titans as a great war wages around you. Beautiful spectacle and great graphics for the time

Greece is a Mediterranean Nation that’s warm all year round; therefore, they can mine for metals like bronze, gold and silver or mine for marble without worrying about winter. They can also import slaves a hell of a lot easier than Scandinavia could. Scandinavia, on the other hand, is located very close to the arctic circle so rather than wasting their time mining, they build settlements in strategic locations using the materials most accessible to them, which is wood and stone and instead spend the 4-5 months of nice weather they do get to prepare for the grueling winters.

This is the best storytelling ever….as a kid I read ALL these stories hundreds of times but to see them brought to life with such excellence is breathtaking……the developers really cared about this game and the fan base
I remember when I first got this game for the PS3 the day came out, I finished God of War 2 the day before and I was so hyped for this game, and going from the graphics of GOW 2 to part 3 was absolutely insane and this game blew my mind!!! And the fact that this game lived up and exceeded the hype that part 2 brought is something that I'll never forget. one of the greatest game series ever.
Poseidon had the coolest battle in this game. Just amazing! Zeus is more powerfull than him as myth make us believe, but on the game he showed the best powers of all series in my opinion. If wasan't by Kratos, he alone could finish the titans at the start of the battle, since he got two of them in seconds of the opening sequence. Cya o/

william stelmar Most gods and titans in greek mythos are supposedly completely immortal hence why they mostly resorted to imprisonments and such. I mean heck the things gods do to eachother in myths are worse than what kratos does to them in the games.
They were still awful, before Kratos even pledged to Ares, they used mortals as pawns to have a game, like giving their champion's village stillborns or poisoning them, just to see which champion would win.
I loved this scene , need more like it in games - it shows originally how powerful they all are and how high in the ranks they’re - makes it more satisfying and amazing when kratos beats them , one man ...
I will always wonder why in almost every modern depiction of Greek mythology they made Hades look so creepy. He was actually the nicest of the three brothers and was even a merciful and fair God.
@@rover5058 I know I'm in the minority and its just my opinion but God of War (2018) and Ragnarok's combat just felt stale and repetitive. The story was incredible but I would rather watch it on RUclips than slog through some of those sequences
This opening scene is the one of the best of all time,it's EPIC. Zeus with his speech transmits power and autority Zeus > Odin Greek Great War > Norse Great War
The Norse gods are actually stronger than the Greek gods. But when it comes to my opinion, Ragnarok of Norse Mythology is more epic than The Great War of Greek Mythology.
The feat of strenght and power of the olympians to restrain the mountain size giants is astonishing. No wonder why they are called the champions of old.

Poseidon is actually one of my favourite gods in Greek Mythology, second only to Hades.

Scandinavia, on the other hand, is located very close to the arctic circle so rather than wasting their time mining, they build settlements in strategic locations using the materials most accessible to them, which is wood and stone and instead spend the 4-5 months of nice weather they do get to prepare for the grueling winters.

@@soweli3033 The dwarves pale in comparison to the Atlantians which I think are humans. Ghost of Sparta did a damn good job of showing how advanced it is in terms of architecture and technology.

This is the best storytelling ever….as a kid I read ALL these stories hundreds of times but to see them brought to life with such excellence is breathtaking……the developers really cared about this game and the fan base
I remember when I first got this game for the PS3 the day came out, I finished God of War 2 the day before and I was so hyped for this game, and going from the graphics of GOW 2 to part 3 was absolutely insane and this game blew my mind!!! And the fact that this game lived up and exceeded the hype that part 2 brought is something that I'll never forget. one of the greatest game series ever.

Poseidon had the coolest battle in this game. Just amazing! Zeus is more powerfull than him as myth make us believe, but on the game he showed the best powers of all series in my opinion. If wasan't by Kratos, he alone could finish the titans at the start of the battle, since he got two of them in seconds of the opening sequence. Cya o/

I think the cinematics were great but Kratos was at his worst as a character and almost mindlessly evil.

After realizing that the gods personalities were changed by the kratos opening the box in the first game, I almost feel bad for them lol.
They were still awful, before Kratos even pledged to Ares, they used mortals as pawns to have a game, like giving their champion's village stillborns or poisoning them, just to see which champion would win.
I loved this scene , need more like it in games - it shows originally how powerful they all are and how high in the ranks they’re - makes it more satisfying and amazing when kratos beats them , one man ...
