Best Cavalry Archer? (+Byzantine Campaign Update) | Age of Empires 2

- The cavalry archer is a unit that tends to be neglected in the recent years for various reasons. But today we are not going to find out the reason why but instead we will put to them to the test and find out who has the best cavalry archer. Also my new campaign is out about Emperor Basil the II, playing as Byzantines, so now you can try it yourself and tell me what you think. 4 more missions are on the way, far more exciting so stay tuned!
Back to the archers, we are going to compare civs like Mongols, Tatars, Franks, Magyars, Japanese and more, which bonuses such as 20% more hit points, plus 1 extra attack and range, fast training time, faster movement speed, faster fire attack and many more.

Because when you set up your creation with a scenario tag it does not appear as a campaign in the custom campaigns tab.

Tatars are the ones who has +2 LoS as a team bonus.
Also, Cumans' CA being better than Tatars'... Kinda weird 😂. Having 6 melee armor and 7 pierce, they are strong and bulky.
I'd say it is around the same tier or better than Turks' or Mongols', having a good save with free thumb ring and Parthian tactics.
@@jesusrubiomaldonado27 you're right about the +2 LoS. About the Tatars, you can see them how they perform in the video.

Test vs Skirms? Its the unit you almost sure will be against, why not here?
With this I think Turks will be higher.
I was debating to include them in the video but I thought who will fight skirms with CA.. They are fast and skirms can be avoided unless they force a fight. But you are right Turks might have the advantage here.
@@DemonAgeOfEmpires2-wf8lv is not about wanting to fight them, once enemy knows you are going CA he will be making them. Is more possible you will end up against Skirms than Arbs.
I'd love to use that skin for a Mount & Blade mod.

The Huns have 5 Cav.A. when other civs have 4. Unless another civ also has reduced costs. They win or tie in almost all horse archer performances.
The only negative is investing in an additional archery.

Though not a standard CA, Mangudai are king. Fire +25% plus their bonus damage against siege, hence no weaknesses. Just perfect imo! Other than that, i would chose Huns. CA are expensive and their bonus really helps to mass CA, which is critical.

Well, I think that cavalry archers test really should have included some hit and run/kite test, against say, Paladins, or something. Magyars, Mongols and Cumans would probably perform the best, but still worth checking.
@lscibor hit and run requires micro which completely dependents on player's skill. I wouldn't include it for that reason.
Magyars are really op for any target and mongols specific mangudai and camel archers berbers are op…..

Some cavalary units look like they negate anti cavalary bonus attack entirely. 😅

Should be cool the cataphracts can switch between sword, spear or bow like the indian chariots.

While not as powerful as CA from dedicated civ, Goth, and Persian CA are surprisingly usable in some specific scenarios and sometime can catch people off-guard
@vunguyenxuanhoang7422 sure there are other CA without specific bonuses but they can be situational good depending on player's tactics.
Hello, I played your mission Basil, what I think is TOP is the landscape, it looks completely believable and real, no dull places where there is only grass - luxurious as a whole. The mission as such was fine, no problems and all the tasks were completed as they were supposed to be, probably the only thing I would cancel is the infinite spawn of the light blue player, it's annoying when you're already preparing for the final, the only thing that was a little difficult were the first attacks.. everyone suddenly and for the first time it destroyed me, otherwise great and I hope that the next missions will be just as graphically elaborate. @kalifzerich7187 thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it! I tried to make it as asthetic as possible, putting a lot of time on making the landscape, I'm glad that you noticed.
As for the light blue player,I had to add the spam, since by that time you're overpowered with basically two small opponents to win. I didn't want it to feel boring at that point of the game.
Next mission is 10x better in my opinion. You are back to Constantinople and you must retake it from usurpers, while you must convince the Rus to send you reinforcements, the famous Varangian Guard. It's a fun campaign and almost ready
