100%, we generally don’t consume mainstream media and like to form our own opinions of place, but when entering Mexico we still had some of what we’d heard clinging to our minds. Most if not all of it has fallen away now. Mexico is a wonderful place with no more danger than the US or Canada (in fact, maybe less?). Hi guys, Allan from BajaOverlanding here, loves this Video, just wanted to mention that road up the hill you said was in bad shape 🤣 when we did it the road was mostly blocked with hundreds of boulders up to 6' around and thousands of smaller rocks, about halfway down there was one guy with a broom sweeping the small stones, lucky we all had jeeps, so to me it looked in good shape, can not believe you did the road in with the van, you guys are amazing. Have a safe trip.
Hey Allan! Yeah, I kind of figured that the state of it changes often and rapidly with every rainfall. I’d imagine they’ve got a dozer or something hidden at the bottom that goes up ever so often to clear. It was a fun trek! Our friends in their Sprinter supposedly did it a year ago as well which leads me to believe the road was in better condition then.
You mentioned a year and a half for your trip, looking forward to experiencing your adventures vicariously. When we drove from Toronto Ontario to Montevideo Uruguay in the early 1970s we arrived for Xmas in just over 3 months so it will be so nice to truly explore the countries, only you are doing it for us.
Absolutely amazing episode!! Thank you for sharing this unique and beautiful landscape and people ... and dogs too! Batapilas looked enchanting, the cave hot springs so cool and the mountains around Monterey stunning! Love following along!
You’re bringing so much marvellous memories from when we did the same route about 25 years in a eurovan.. memories of a lifetime. Thank you so much. ❤🇨🇦

Rest of the week into the weekend is supposed to be sunny with temperatures ranging from-2, to 7-9 in the afternoon. Those Ground beef Empanadas looked Yummy 😋 but you should had gone to creel they have the most beautiful Hot springs next to a rocky mountain, Also on 22:30 Camargo is my favorite place to go to in the summer,,There's a place called Los Filtros and there's pools where water is filtered throughout a cave and there are many camping spots out there Camargo is my parents home town, in the 1940' my grandfather was the only pilot there and had a piper cub.
We did go through Creel actually, really cute town! Got tacos there. We decided to pass on the hot springs there though…maybe we’ll should have gone.🫤 That’s super cool that you have a history in Chihuahua. I wish I were your grandpa with that Piper Cub, I haven’t flown one, but I dream of doing so one day.
Some of my uncles and aunts are from Parral and both my parents are from Chihuahua City, and my dad from Juarez. Most of their familyis from Chihuahua. I love it out there! I miss it so much. .
I ran into you guys on RUclips a month ago. Love your videos!!! If you travel between Tampico and Veracruz you will run into a very BEAUTIFUL pyramid site called “El Tajín”. It’s on my bucket list to go back.
Glad you found it! I don’t think we’ll go to Tampico but definitely Vera Cruz. I’ll look up El Tajín to see if it’s on our route, thanks for the tip and thanks for watching!
So glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching! 31gal tank, 7.5gallons of Jerry can capacity. Not sure what it is in miles, but it gets us roughly 800km depending on mpg.
Churros! yummy. Great video, those were some crazy roads. We live on west coast of Mexico, had no idea Tim Horton was in Mexico! Safe travels, how long before you acquire a dog? lol
Somehow we have not purchased many churros in Mexico, I think it needs to be a policy that we always get them when we see them.🤣 We were quite surprised to see Tim’s as well, I wonder if it’s successful. We’re staying firm on our no pet policy. We’ll come back to Mexico to adopt when we settle down one day.
Nice drive, beautiful camera work. By the way... have you checked into where you can and can't fly drones in Mexico? That cave hoy spring was very cool. Tried that coke in a glass bottle yet?
Same rules apply, avoid flying over built up areas, around airports, government buildings etc. Just common sense places. The cave hot spring was a treat for sure, best one we’ve been in to date. I’ve tried it ages ago but haven’t had one since getting to Mexico.
When I lived in Southern California in the 1990s people with homes in Mexico who worked in the USA said every year Mexico gets better and the United States gets worse. Native Americans in Arizona have publicly announced this land belongs to Mexico. Native Americans want Mexico to return as the Government of the Southwest.
I’m inclined to agree with that opinion to some degree. We don’t pay close attention to politics, but there have been a few things that the Mexican government has done that makes a lot of sense that makes me think they have their heads screwed on a little tighter than both Canada and the US. Thanks for watching Joseph!
I wanted to go Mexico since I saw it on “Where’s my Office Now” channel started WAY back. Are they even still around? Anyway, one day I was talking to someone at work about it and they asked me a question that pretty much killed the idea. He asked “why go there when the ones that live there are trying to get here?” Not knocking anyone for going there, but I have a lot of the US I haven’t seen and Canada is next on my list.
I don’t mean to start an argument, but that question is a pretty narrow minded one. There certainly is so much to explore in the US and Canada and if you haven’t yet, I’d say go for it. But to think that you needn’t go see another country because the people from that country are immigrating to yours isn’t looking at the bigger picture. There are lots of Canadians and Americans moving to Mexico as well and that’s because they LOVE IT there. From our personal perspective, we feel safer in Mexico than in the US, folks are generally more friendly, the food is cheaper, healthier and more delicious and the range of landscape and ecosystem is something we’ve never seen before. It’s all new and exciting and WE love it. There’s a language barrier and that can be intimidating, the culture is different and sometimes doesn’t make sense, but that’s part of international travel. My suggestion, go explore the US and Canada. Do that for a while, it will expand your understanding of the world a little more, get you used to traveling and then when you feel like stretching yourself a little, dip into Mexico for a little bit, then come back….then do it again, because i guarantee you, you’ll want to go back. Thanks for watching. Please don’t take anything I just said with any kind of animosity whatsoever, I know a lot can be lost in text, just imagine me saying this all with a smile. 😊
@ no worries at all. RUclips being my only experience with the country, and different creators showing different sides, it’s difficult to decide what is real and what is put on for views. I never meant any insult with my comment. Just trying to gain a better perspective on things with a conversation and after watching a lot of your videos, you seem like honest folks I could get a real answer from.
I’d say the best opinion to listen to is the one you’ve formed from personal experience. We can preach how great Mexico is until we’re blue in the face, but you may still not enjoy it. All we can say is that we’ve had a really great time and I think the images we share show a really beautiful place. Happy travels and we genuinely hope you decide to cross the border one day and explore your neighbouring country to the south.😊
Sploot has siblings! Darryl(redish pup) and his other sibling Darryl(aka Frijios) Bonus points if you can name that 80's-1990 US TV Show whence it came. 3 Sploots and counting. Dang! Betty be badass! You go gurl!
You said in your video that you're heading to the East Coast of Mexico to the city of Monterey, Monterey is nowhere on the East Coast of Mexico it is in a Northeast State, not a coastal state.

Unreal! Thanks for injecting that little tidbit, that’s super cool! We’ll definitely return to Batopilas one day, what a cool little town.
As soon as I saw the colonial architecture in the middle of the remote mountains I thought, it has to be an old mining town
@@jayflo714 Yes. 200 miles of tunnels and trains of 30+ burrows would take month long trips to Chihuahua to sell the silver.

Great video, I look forward to them every week.
Monterey Mexico, home of my favorite rock band, The Warning...
That’s what we like to hear! Thanks for watching, I’ll look up the Warning, I’m always down to give new bands a listen. Cheers!🙌🏻
Also you can visit beatiful places like "Las Adjuntas", a nice town call "Santiago" and near Saltillo "Las Alazanas"
We’ll have to add these places to the list for when we return to Chihuahua.
Amazing places. The hot springs with natural shower was amazing!
It’s sure was, thanks for watching Christopher!
Great content.
Thanks Charles!🙌🏻🙌🏻
Some of my uncles and aunts are from Parral and both my parents are from Chihuahua City, and my dad from Juarez. Most of their familyis from Chihuahua. I love it out there! I miss it so much. .
It’s a beautiful area! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the beautifull images
Thanks for watching them!😊🙌🏻🇲🇽
Se mira delicioso.
Si, muy delicioso! Las empanadas son mis cosas favoritas.😁
❤❤❤ just good time!!
Heck yeah! Thanks for watching Hector!🙌🏻
There was a man at the water fill station that turns faucet on when he hears the change.
👍🏼 thanks for watching
Love this. Deep history, rich colors, tasty food, friendly people. Repatriation risk, indeed. Buen viaje, amigos!
😁😁Couldn’t have said it better! Thanks for watching Ben! Hope you two are doing well.
I like Tecate beer.
I’m more of a Pacifico drinker myself, Carte Blanco isn’t so bad either.
@@SlowRoamers El Tagin is a nice stop. .if they still do the pole drop ceremony that is the place to see it
I’ll add it to the list, thanks Ray!
Another stunning video, you two! LOVED the cave hot spring, of course❤❤❤What’s your fuel capacity? How many miles can that take you?
So glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching! 31gal tank, 7.5gallons of Jerry can capacity. Not sure what it is in miles, but it gets us roughly 800km depending on mpg.
Saludos desde TJ Baja California Dios los Bendiga en su camino 👍
Saludos de San Luis Potosí, gracias por ver, amigo! Y viva México!🇲🇽🇲🇽
Churros!
Excelente video ❤
Gracias por ver!
@ gracias a ustedes por visitar mi tierra Monterrey Nuevo León ❤️
Nosotras volveremos!😁
Beer and Taco's is the best reward Ever.
Cannot and will not disagree with this statement!😂 🍻
I am wondering if you are offering water to the dogs that you meet?
Yep! But they don’t drink 🫤🤷🏼♂️. You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink. They’re usually just concerned about what we’re eating.
@SlowRoamers interesting, you offer them water, they don't drink, you offer them food they follow you everywhere hahaha 😂.
Yeah, that seems to be dog code.🤷🏼♂️
Driving in all those Dusty areas I'm curious how often you have changed your air filter on the engine?
Filter was changed before we left the USA.😊
@@SlowRoamersI would say you need a new one already by now
Perhaps, I’ll make sure I check it.
Can you provide more details on the location of the hot spring. I can't seem to figure it out. Thank you in advance.

Peñafiel!
Aka delicious!
Yes! Get some popcorn peeps 🍿
Don’t forget the cerveza!
@ tacos? 🌮
Ok, you one upped me…😂
@ 🤣

It’s crazy to think how far you’ve driven into Mexico to get to Monterrey, and you’re still super close to the Texas border
Hahaha, yeah, it’s true. Monterrey is like 2hrs from the border I think
. We wanted to drive through Mexico instead of across to Texas.
It's a place called real de catorce in san luis potosi
Also la huasteca potosina ,rain forest place
We were just in Real de Catorce and currently in Huasteca Potosina!😁

Meg has an Indian background but she’s often mistaken for Mexican.😂
You said in your video that you're heading to the East Coast of Mexico to the city of Monterey, Monterey is nowhere on the East Coast of Mexico it is in a Northeast State, not a coastal state.
Thanks for watching
Hmmmm. i do not think that, if you were in the USA or Europe, this could be permited. To cut a pine tree?WOW!

Cool!👍🏼
150usd for 6 quarts of oil and a bucket!!?? You're joking right??
Nope, not joking. Stuff is cheap in the US. In Canada and Mexico goods cost much more.
@SlowRoamers no my friend, you got jacked. Lol
@@SlowRoamers not even in Mexico city where things cost more would you pay that much. I paid just under 30 bucks for a full oil change.
Hmmmm, I’m having a chat with Meg and she figures i miscalculated. I’m not particularly good with numbers, so I wouldn’t be surprised if I misread the receipt.😬
@SlowRoamers lol. Yea it's gotta be that.
