Thanks for the update. I have seen a lot of people have issues with the SFAR. I'm sure Ruger will iron them all out. The Ruger MPR 556had some issues initially but now I've seen them run 1000 rounds without cleaning and no malfunctions with various brands of ammo. The SFAR is having some growing pains but it's got a lot of great features and in my humble opinion, a lot of potential. I will be picking one up eventually.
Liked & comment done. I ran another 30 through mine today after the new gas regulator from Ruger. That puts me up to 100. Ran flawless! 350ish total on the gun now. It's functioning well enough I'm ready to dial in the optic at longer range. Ruger treated me great as well!! 👍
I agree with you about Ruger's customer service. It is excellent. We are a big supporter of Ruger as a family. We have 3 generations of loyal Ruger buyers plus lots of extended family who buy Ruger products as a top option. Handguns , bolt rifles, gas guns, rimfires & even a red label. The very, very few issues we have experienced in over 40 years of Ruger purchases have been handled professionally and promptly. It does disappoint me personally that Ruger released what seems to be a "sub-par" "gen 1" product. The SFAR is answer to many of our desires. An AR-15 size AR-10. And it is reasonably priced. And it is U.S.A made. And it is Ruger. My SFAR is still on setting #3. It runs fine. Factory 308 is ejecting @ 3 o'clock or 2:30ish and is only slightly shining the extractor marks on head just a bit. Thank you for update.
Best of luck to you, but mine went back more than 3 times. Friendly customer service, but that rifle is flawed. Finally told them to keep it on the 4th time. Mine wouldn't function because of headpiece issues, gas issues, and finally retaining on being out of spec and gouging the upper. Every time I was told the rifle functioned flawlessly, but either fire 10 rounds without a malfunction.
I recently bought the 20” a few weeks ago and mine has ran flawless with no issues. I have put about 150ish rounds through it with no problems. I guess each one is hit or miss. Hopefully I don’t have any problems with mine soon
New subscriber! Have always had great dealings with ruger, although it's been a long time. Been considering the SFAR... wish they had them in 6.5 Creedmoor. Look forward to seeing it once you get it back. Yes us small firearm's channels sure have quite the fight... always an uphill battle, so any help we can get, well, helps!
Just sent mine back after first time out and it failed to feed and had brass shaving on stuck round . Hope to see it back this week . Expected better from Ruger, think they jumped the gun putting it out there before they fixed some minor problem 's .
I was looking at one and plugged in all the specs on their website, the handguard, barrel length and gas tube length for the 16" showed nothing compatible. Can't speak for 20" version. I went with aero precision adjustable and melonited gas tube just bc it's black 🤣
@@5jjt haven’t fixed it yet. Mine started stripping the case rims and not ejecting. When I removed the bolt I could move the ejector with my thumb easily. Don’t know though why someone of the cases where so stuck in the chamber that I had to use a rod and a hammer to get them out.
@@MyMd1111I’ve been having issues with my SFAR as well. Can’t get it to cycle properly. I’m suppressed and on setting 1 it’s not ejecting the spent casings. I’m having to manually eject them. One was so stuck I couldn’t even get it to come out with the charging handle. Did you get yours fixed? What was the problem is so?
@@TX_BACONATOR still working on it, didn't have the time to fix it, Ruger wants my dealer to send fotos of the casings, it has to be my casings. Do no count on Rugers help.
I would like to get one but with the problems it has, I'll have to wait until Ruger fixes the problems. Should not have to send it back, it's brand new.
Seeing all these videos of we rifle being so unreliable. Makes me regret buying mine. I got it last weekend and have only shot four rounds through it. I’m already contemplating returning it.
I tried setting my SFAR on 0 for my youngest to use it on a youth deer hunt so I don't have to deal with what side I have to sit when hunting. But I was unable to get it beyond #1. All other settings change smoothly. Has anyone else had an issue on 0? Thank you.
@@mrgrump2534 Yes sir. I like that option for training youth in close settings. I want to use it like a "bolt" gun in order to eliminate any concern of brass/gas ejection at me if I need to position myself that close to assist them. I could not get my SFAR beyond the #1 setting. Not sure if I am missing something. Thank you for responding. Happy hunting to you all.
Bunch of crap that you early adopters get stuck doing the T&E for a system that Ruger should have vetted before bringing to market. Customer Service is one thing, but they should be footing the bill for you guys testing their equipment. No bueno.

I still love the rifle. It’s exactly like you said growing pains.

Did they just send it to you?
Yes. One call from me & it was in my mailbox 3 days later. Cost me $0.
Nice to see a company have actual good customer service.

Great content and I have a Ruger SFAR and so far I have had no issues
Thanks! Good luck with yours!

Damn that's unfortunate...this rifle is perfect in concept. Seems like Ruger is treating you right though.
They are doing good so far.
I've had really good experiences with Ruger's customer service the couple of times I had to deal with them.
Good vid man and thanks for not being one these guys that just moan and groan because something didn’t go perfect for them!
Hopefully that fixes it. I still vote that in the end you’ll find it to be a gas issue but I hope whatever they do with the chamber fixes it!!

Iv heard the 20” have less issues. Still a great gun tho.
Update on it?

Thanks for the sub! Yeah a 6.5 would be sweet I’d get one. Yeah RUclips is trying to silence us hard.
I just got an SFAR and I had the same problem with it eating the brass
I’ve noticed a lot of people having issues with the 16”.
This is mostly on the 16" barrel guns?

Did you start on gas setting 3?
People that have bought it and don't shoot much may find out down the road and way too late.
What do you mean by that?
I just got one yesterday habe not shot yet!
Tru Dat, gun companies bet on you not actually using the stuff you buy.
I'm interested to see how it would run with a rifle speed gas block.

@@Juanito95 the midwest handguards work on it. I guess you would have to get a shorter handguard to get the rifle speed to work.
@@jeremywatson9129 I believe that I put in a smaller number to see which one would work and a 16" mid length was a 14 or 14.5 I'm not 100% sure
I think the extractor might be too aggressive
Love the channel bud. Keep it up!
Thanks!
Please do let us know what Ruger says.
It’s the extractor. Have the same issue.
How so? Sharp edges? What's the fix?

I agree with you. I would hold off for a few more months let them get the kinks out.
So how would you send it back?
You don’t have to pay another transfer fee at your FFL if you have to use them do you?

I have a question. Will my radiant raptor ar10 charging handle work in my sfar?
If it’s bigger than a standard 556 charging handle then I wouldn’t think so. I run a BCM one for a 556 gun
How many times have you shipped that thing back to Ruger firearm?
This is the first and only time I hope.

It's a cheap AR10. They always have issues

Yep, I had both the 16 and 20 inch. Garbage!!!!! I am an attorney, and I sincerely hope that Ruger gets crushed for shitting on gun owners!!!
