My grandfather Everett William Biggs was sent to this orphanage in 1929 after his mother died trying to give birth to his baby brother. His father died of heartbreak a month later. My grandfather was only 2 years old... He aged out of the system...he used his older brother's birthdate to enlist in the Navy and get out of the children's home. He met my grandmother in 1945 or 1946. They were married September 6th, 1947.
He passed away in January 1981 at the age of 53.. Lymphoma...most likely caused by asbestos exposure from working at a shipyard in Philadelphia. 💔
Unfortunately, flooding destroyed the records at the children's home from that long ago. I had called and asked about his records a couple years ago. 💔

Hi Sharon! I believe you would have been there at the same time as some of my aunts. Are you part of this group on Facebook? Someone there may have some answers. facebook.com/groups/531310686997970
