internal resolution bumps won't upgrade texture resolution(ie the door has a baked in low res texture). Wait till texture mod packs are made. Think like minecraft. You can change the resolution to 4k, but the game won't look too different until you get a 4k high res texture pack that compliments the internal resolution. Proper lods will help a lot with this game too, as some models are baked with decimated geometry it seems.
I almost feel that when a game as been completed, they need to first be given to the modder community and then released with to the public with modded options.
imo, this is not the way to go. the best way is to release the game and allow the community to do mods, just like the mario maker, or just like ESO online where you get alot of mods from the community, but pokemon inc is very close minded on this kind of innovation, they think that they have all the answers for all the issues and they refuse to open up to the modders.
I heard you were working on a mod for making distant models/npc's render at normal FPS as opposed to the the extremely low FPS they are at now. Is that different from the LOD mod you are working on? Love your work!

Considering the fact that Game Freak took 20 years to acknowledge the mere existence of a right analog stick, I can conclude that they haven’t updated their Dev Kits since the time they were still competing with the PSP.
It's the cutscene camera for me. The switch's cutscenes look like the camera is jumping from position a to position b, the upscaled version at 60 looks like the camera is actually moving from a to b and not skipping
Love the vid! And even if its jarring at times I love the sped up animations looking so clean and speedy compared to the normal speed feeling really slow to me.
As someone who played the game on emulator when it was leaked early, I really enjoyed the game. Crazy how with proper hardware and graphics changes, the visuals change a lot.
60fps looks way much more smoother than 30fps in my humble opinion, but that's a different story for the Nintendo Switch. When video games are running over 60fps which could overheat the Nintendo Switch and drain the battery life much faster as a result. In order to prevent this, various video game developers had to lock the framerate to 30fps. Some games on nintendo switch actually offers a performance mode feature that reduces the resolution of the game to run at 60fps.
One thing that wasn't mentioned that I found suprising when I got uncompressed 4k footage is that the texture quality of assets is so much higher quality than you can see or appreciate on switch.
@@jimmyjohn6479 I disagree, aside from the sides of cliffs and mountains being noticeably bad when upscaled all the textures look good for this kind of stylization.
@@jimmyjohn6479 Yeah I play tons of games, there is a lot of texture detail that increased resolution provides that makes this game look good aside from a few things. The switch and lack of optimization really let down some of the work they did.

*I'm with you just going from 30fps to 60fps is such a huge deal, to me it was the same transition as going from 480p → 720p seeing the HD for the first time*
5:20 It's most likely your CPU holding you back, the 8700K going to be showing it's age at this point. The 3090 is still quite good though so you're fine on the GPU side. You might want to try upgrading to like something like a 12600k or something, can get a DDR4 board so you can use your same RAM and save some money there.
...i just hate how you need a lot of money just to play new-gen games. like i get it, they're getting more intensive on hardware for that "realistic" looking graphics, but it pisses me off so hard, you know?
@@Froggo-up4wu yeah pc gaming is becoming increasingly expensive with triple A games. The issue is also 90% due to devs just being lazy as hell with pc optimisations, like there is zero excuses for games like TLOU part 1 and Gotham knights needing over 9gb of vram, while on console they only use around 4 gb
I have an i7-12700K. Can handle 8 player Smash Ultimate matches with ice climbers perfectly at stable 60fps using the integrated graphics on Yuzu through Vulkan API. I'm using DDR5 RAM, i think perfomance would tank with DDR4.
Looks great man, seriously. I'm one of those gifted folk that have shit eyesight and I play on the switch light just cause it's more convenient lol. I really didn't really notice a huge problem with the graphics until this video lmao, can't unsee this shit haha
I must be getting old because I didn't realize semi-competent Switch emulation was even a thing (even if you need a NASA computer for optimal performance). Didn't even bother to check, thought that kind of thing would be a few more years down the road.
Even at 4k the game still looks like its from 2013. I know the switch's hardware is partially to blame but Pokemon is the highest grossing media franchise in the world. We should bare expect Pokemon games to look as good as Xenoblade (DE 2 or 3), SMT V, or ToTK. Instead they have soulless animations, low quality side content, textures that rival Ocarina of Time, countless technical issues, etc.
honestly you don't need the console anymore, i've ran every first party Nintendo game in 2022 and the only one that did not work right at launch was sparks of hope and even that worked after 3 weeks. so yeah as long as you buy the games, your free to do what you want.
I really wish Gamefreak would embrace modding the way Bethesda has learned to. If they’re going to release not even half baked games, they really shouldn’t throw such a fit about people fixing what they didn’t.
This is really great work. I bought both version and they are so much fun but the graphic gives me always "urgh" moments. I wish I would have the knowledge to do the same on my PC after my purchase of them. But played too many hours on the Switch to start a new game on the PC...
Now I really want to see a mod where it implements RTX to the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet emulation. Also, it will take a lot to make a better Pokémon Scarlet and Violet version than just making it look nice. I'm sure there is a lot of tweaking of code that needs to be done, and I want to see professional programmers pick apart the code and see everything that went wrong. Also it would be nice if the community got some artist that could make some better texture maps for stuff like grass, rock, and buildings to name a few.
People really underestimate how much of a difference a powerful CPU does for big and ambitious games like Scarlet&Violet way more than a powerful graphics card or GPU... The CPU is in charge of running the game in the first place, specially stable, smooth and responsive, while the GPU works for displaying the image, with pretty visuals and can display as many frames as the CPU can process the game (unless the GPU isn't fast enough). I have an Intel Core i7-12700K running Legends Arceus on the integrated graphics card with the emulator and it's so much smoother than the Switch, Smash Ultimate too. The Gamecube which is a Nintendo console i still own and use from time to time had a pretty powerful CPU for it's time and it felt pretty snappy when i play any game. You can feel the Switch as a very underpowered console in comparison, isn't as responsive. The Gamecube has very short loading times too. The Gamecube made me as spoiled kid growing up on my console taste, it was an anomaly for Nintendo's history. Nowadays i get similar or better responsiveness on my PC with similar loading times (the Gamecube was pretty quick), the Switch itself is unplayable for me, it's so slow, never had that feeling with a Nintendo console ever, not even the Wii U.
The game on switch uses dynamic resolution scaling. So when the framerate is slow, the games renders at a lower res to keep the frame times (which suck no matter what). What I mean is that, when you set the emulator to native resolution, it still looks better than switch, because your PC is powerful enough so the game doesn't need to lower the resolution to keep the framerate up.
@@RogueRen Of course, new stuff/games could be difficult to deal with, but we all know Nintendo never gives up. Emulation enthusiasts do not either lol. It is fine for now. I have been enjoying it so much. It is so sad that Nintendo doesn’t work on improving their hardware, but these emulators run games at better resolution and overall quality.
Quick notes about the performances: Emulators scale A LOT on Cpu, in fact I remeber playing BOTW on the CEMU, upgrading my CPU was a much bigger improvement over upgrading my GPU, of course you don't want your GPU to bottleneck, but once you have something good, a 2070 is good too, if your concern is emulation you can use the spared money for a better CPU. Also, from my experience Ryzen are more stable and generally faster for emulation. You can still fly in emulators with a Ryzen 9 3900X. P.S. With Yuzu you have the ability to enable async shaders compile, that will dramatically increase smoothness at the cost of pop in. When you can play on Yuzu, use it instead of Ryujinx.
@@quemuraa yeah pc is for sure gonna be better even with low specs, it's just funny he has a $1200 - $1400 gpu and a $200 processor that bottlenecks close to 50%. i'm sure things run fine still but it's an interesting match..
As much as i like the 60fps when I play at times, overall it is to fast for pokemon. If people could make mods for 48 fps I think it would be a good. The game seems to be built to run at 30-40 in my experience.
Nobody would buy their consoles then. Let's face it, the hardware is always subpar. I always see the displays and can't help but think how terrible it looks. Poor resolution, washed out colours, flicker.
unfortunately my R5 3600 is sweating too hard for a playable experience but the video is dope all the way very well made, with great insights and showcase, keep it up
If Nintendo isn't upgrading the hardware, they should totally start dropping titles in PC like Sony is. PS: Not to say it's Nintendo fault the game looks so awful an runs like shit, it's definitely GameFreak's fault, botw is on another level considering the hardware, but having an official option, maybe a while after release date could be a nice option.
I agree. People are already playing these games on pc cause the switch can legitimately be emulated on an android phone. If they’re not making a switch pro, port the games to pc
a friend of mine beat the whole game before the game came out, and now seeing these on switch performance videos, I can say for sure it was a better experience on pc

internal resolution bumps won't upgrade texture resolution(ie the door has a baked in low res texture). Wait till texture mod packs are made. Think like minecraft. You can change the resolution to 4k, but the game won't look too different until you get a 4k high res texture pack that compliments the internal resolution. Proper lods will help a lot with this game too, as some models are baked with decimated geometry it seems.
The door must have a heightmap applied to the texture instead of actual bumps in the mesh

I was watching this WITHOUT my glasses, that I legally need for everything. And even without them I was able to see the difference!
60fps is actually realistic considering just how terrible pokémon games look honestly with good optimization i can see it being even higher
One thing that wasn't mentioned that I found suprising when I got uncompressed 4k footage is that the texture quality of assets is so much higher quality than you can see or appreciate on switch.
the textures definitely don’t look good they’re some of the worst looking textures i’ve ever seen seriously these look worse than ds games

That LOD mod is a real game-changer. If only the textures didn’t repeat themselves so evidently, then the game might actually look half decent.
I pray that in the next games, we won’t have graphics worse than games from the ps3 🙏
I must be getting old because I didn't realize semi-competent Switch emulation was even a thing (even if you need a NASA computer for optimal performance). Didn't even bother to check, thought that kind of thing would be a few more years down the road.
You don’t even need a good rig, just a decent cpu really. My old $500 1050 and i7 laptop could emulate switch games at 1080p 60fps flawlessly
I'm actually planning on getting emulation on my pc for Scarlet & Violet next week. I kinda feel left out for not having a console lmao
honestly you don't need the console anymore, i've ran every first party Nintendo game in 2022 and the only one that did not work right at launch was sparks of hope and even that worked after 3 weeks. so yeah as long as you buy the games, your free to do what you want.
Yeah. Every time I launch my game on Ryujinx, I admire the details SOOO much, especially individual strands of hair.
thanks for making the video its really good
I really wish Gamefreak would embrace modding the way Bethesda has learned to. If they’re going to release not even half baked games, they really shouldn’t throw such a fit about people fixing what they didn’t.
Nintendo will not embrace modding
Because is competition against them, which will force to improve and why improve if they already reach peak.
This is really great work. I bought both version and they are so much fun but the graphic gives me always "urgh" moments.
I wish I would have the knowledge to do the same on my PC after my purchase of them. But played too many hours on the Switch to start a new game on the PC...
The modification of your Switch that would allow you go get the game to PC, would also allow you to easily put your Save File on the PC as well
Now I really want to see a mod where it implements RTX to the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet emulation.
Also, it will take a lot to make a better Pokémon Scarlet and Violet version than just making it look nice. I'm sure there is a lot of tweaking of code that needs to be done, and I want to see professional programmers pick apart the code and see everything that went wrong. Also it would be nice if the community got some artist that could make some better texture maps for stuff like grass, rock, and buildings to name a few.
sadly that will never happen
@@Volfur2251 they could use rtgi or something to add raytraycing if that's what they mean by rtx. But the rest of it sounds a bit delusional

@@LinklightToo he's coping lol

You know what would've helped? Nintendo using decent hardware instead of potato chips.
It has nothing to do with hardware. Pc players with 4090 ti can't even run last jedi survivors on a stable 60 fps
I'm late, but if the switch can handle TOTK with almost no lag Pokemon has not reason to be that shitty
Oh my god you just reminded me of the long time you have to wait when selecting different clothings X_X
Ah of course, the thumbnail that implies FPS affects pixel density, sure I’m going to learn something watching this

I have been enjoying it so much. It is so sad that Nintendo doesn’t work on improving their hardware, but these emulators run games at better resolution and overall quality.
@@eveliojosegarcialeon the hardware would be fine as long as the games are made with the limitations in mind. Stuff like Pokemon were not at all.
Quick notes about the performances:
Emulators scale A LOT on Cpu, in fact I remeber playing BOTW on the CEMU, upgrading my CPU was a much bigger improvement over upgrading my GPU, of course you don't want your GPU to bottleneck, but once you have something good, a 2070 is good too, if your concern is emulation you can use the spared money for a better CPU.

"But my PC is kinda old" Bro I was expecting a 980Ti or something. 💀
And this is why fans can make Pokémon better than Pokémon.
As much as i like the 60fps when I play at times, overall it is to fast for pokemon. If people could make mods for 48 fps I think it would be a good. The game seems to be built to run at 30-40 in my experience.
This is why Nintendo needs to curb their damn greed and just make their games for PC as well.
