Isn't it a scary thought that people may follow what you deem to be allowed when it is clearly not. Like on the day of resurrection we want to have less and less baggage. The sins of all of those people who followed the evil will be on that person's head. May ALLAH SWT forgive us and guide us and keep us firm upon the Deen and save us from deviation in the religion ameen sumaameen 💜

    1. Picking a specific day each year to gather the people and celebrate ones birthday is a religious innovation. Otherwise, what's the point of Rasool Allah salAllahu aleyhi wa salam abolishing all eids(=recurring celebrations) except the two eids?
    2. The early muslims never did this. That's why birthdays of the early imams were not known (precisely). Celebrating birthdays came about when the misguided shia imitated the pagan Christians and invented mawlid.
    3. Birthdays have pagan roots, especially blowing out candles and making a wish (to whom?) etc.
    4. If you want to celebrate one's birth, then you have already done that at the aqeeqa, you don't do a aqeeqa every year.

In my hometown many misguided Imams say the same thing. There's a Muslim radio station that allows callers to ask an Imam of a well-known masjid questions. They asked him about birthday celebrations, mentioning the pagan origins. The Imam went on to say it is okay to wish someone happy birthday and to have a mass dhikr or mass khatam is okay. Then went on to basically attack Salafiyyah and called them "hardcore scholars". This is the condition of my hometown... We have "Imams" who are themselves misguided and they misguide others. But Alhamdulillaah. Salafiyyah continues to grow. Allaahul musta'aan.

@@Randomhandlename for the benefit of those who don't get it, we have to realise that when the Sunnah cancelled out ALL 'Eids except the two 'Eids (Adha and Fitr), what was intended the general term for 'Eid in the Arabic language, which is ANY kind of singling out a particular time in the year for recurring celebration. Thus, this prohibition of 'Eids other than the two we were legislated is NOT limited to festivals for religious reasons, but also includes those for worldly reasons such as birthdays or new year. This is what the early generations of this Ummah understood from the Prophet (peace be upon him), that any type of pinpointing a time for recurring celebration (religious or otherwise) other than the ones prescribed are understood to be impermissible. Thus, we are NOT to oppose this Sunnah for the opinion of someone else, no matter how 'correct in his words' they may sound. The argument of general customs of the people do not apply here, as the prohibition from the texts of revelation (including the Sunnah) includes these recurring celebrations, even if not connected to religion (according to the most correct understanding, leaving philosophy or semantics aside), and thus override the customs of the people in this case. Of course, that guy (may Allah guide us and him) may sound 'correct in his words' to the one who is more acquainted with opinions and philosophy than the texts of revelation and the foundations on how to understand them.
