In case you're all wondering what I used to plan my set and look at key quests, I used MH4U Database on phone. Also the final fight took 48 minutes and 11 seconds to beat which was really close.
That fight reminded me of when we first defeated Gogmazios with my brother. It was our first MH game, we barely knew what we were doing at the time. It took us multiple attempts to even reach the second phase. And then, one afternoon, we survived until the very end and defeated it extremely close on the timer. We were completely exhausted. I think there was around 16 seconds left on the clock when it fell down. Truly an amazing boss
Was that a fire weapon you used? Not familiar with axes. Currently at it. Trying to make a drogon weapon from dragon type zinoger. Need another skyemerald. Seeing if I can hone it with the DLC sticking diablos quest to health or attack.
Well, I think you'd get more monster mats in canon. Like, you probably wouldnt ever have to kill 7 tigrexs to have enough mats for a tigrex weapon. But that happens sometimes in game.
In canon you get every material you need to craft a full armor and weapon set. The rng rewards system exist only as a game mechanic to allow for replayability, otherwise a full playthrough of a game would be rather quick
dude, you are amazing. im way older than this channels intended audience, but im so glad that you are providing a safe environment for a young audience to experience the world of monster hunter. i can already imagine myself being a crusty old grandpa and my grandkid coming up to me saying "grandpa, please come help me with rathalos! i just cant get the last plate i need!"
if there is no punishment to failing a quest, you can just redo it, then there is no difference between an abandon or not since you could just fail instead of abandoning making the counter useless.
I find a lot of the rules are silly like not being able to abandon and not taking items even if you fail like throw yourself a bone sometimes my favorite parts are when you succeed
My guess is that the no abandon rule was to prevent him from abusing abandons to get favorable rng, like resetting until the invader he wanted appeared or something. Maybe not necessary, but fits the idea of the challenge, I guess.
@@fishnutz5196The idea is that you're not *allowed* to throw on purpose to get better rng. The limited abandons are supposed to be your free reset tickets, and if you don't abandon you do actually have to try to beat the quest. It's a bit of an odd rule in that it's very hard to verify whether you actually did your best to beat it or not, but that's the thought behind it: Limit the amount of times you can *deliberately* reset for better rng.
It’s so fun to see this since I’m going through 4U myself to fight every 4U exclusive monster! Just hit Caravan High Rank and currently raising my Hub Rank. Fought Emerald Conga, Blue Yian Kut-Ku, and Purple Gypceros! In case anyone is wondering, I decided to try Insect Glaive for this game.
I've got a monster hunter challenge run I'd like for you to consider, if you would like to. Solo prowler only. You can get multiple palicos to do things like gather materials, teach your main palico moves, or swap out to a different prowler, but you cannot bring any other palicos with you during hunts. This challenge doesn't sound too bad, but trust me most quests past HR 3 are buzzer beaters and I gave up in G rank. BTW tip if you do do it use beast or protection palicos because they have a kind of adept dodge built in (beast palicos only when in beast mode) I tried to use charisma and was punished *HARD* for it in later ranks.
That Final Gogmazios Battle remembered me so much of my a 3Ultimate memory of mine. I was so desperate to get the Alatreon Quest in the Village. For which, you had to beat EVERY other village quest first. And the FINAL one you had beat before unlocking Alatreon was an Arena Battle against one Monster (I think Ivory Lagiacrus) and then two monsters at the same time (Rathalos and Brachydios). As if fighting a Rathalos and a Brachydios at the same time wasn't enough, this was the ONLY offline quest, were the Monsters were scaled up to G RANK (at least that's what I read, and their health and strength seemed to fit that). I was at my second attempt I think, and was already quite unmotivated because it just seemed insane to my. I think I was using Brachy dual blades. And I was also at that point where time was running out. I only had Brachy left and had like 0 expecatations of still beating it, but I also didn't want to give up, because I had already spent so long on that quest. So I went in for one final despair attack after I had already sheathed my weapon, wanting to give up. And that one final slash did it. When I looked at my quest timer in the info afterwards, I was literally at 49:59 out of 50 minutes. A literal last second kill. That was an adrenaline rush I tell you xD I even took a photo of it, but sadly that died with one of my old phones, so I can't prove it. But the memory will never die.
The abandon rule is kinda pointless 'cause you can just wipe 3x without using items in case you forgot to bring anything, thus avoiding abandons for rng reasons in terms of invaders as well.
Nice to see this video, really inspired me to redo MH4U solo since I stopped at G3 due to elder dragons (particularly Kushala daora)... also a fellow charge blade user
@@athos9293 yeah I struggled with that but I also farmed shagaru guild quests for the fully upgraded IG before gog so I know it's pretty doable. Fire drill on the other hand was the only quest I felt I needed to abuse items on and that was after I failed probably more than 10 times.
@@Officewaffle Yeah, we all have varied perceptions of difficulty when it comes to different kinds of challanges. In one side, you have an inexplicably fast monster which's every attack sends a fleet of hovering missiles that track your position (Brachydios is an extra). The other is a long, wide, tall, large and massive dragon that's painfully unpredictable and cuts over half of your health bar with every attack, and can just spit a little bomb that carts you if you aren't at full HP and is extremely hard to not get hit by depending on your position, not to mention the randomly spawning frenzy explosions that punish you for standing still to heal. At least it's not a mouble monster quest in the Volcano 🌋

This challenge justifies my frustration with some of the more difficult 4U quests. Double cephadrome, brachy/stygian, black gravios, etc. are just not fun fights

Got a gore magala honed weapon due to the DLC. Unlocked GOG on my trip up north. Maybe justt doing some GOG runs. Was going for a stygen zinoger weapon but seeing you did it with rando weapons I guess I could try it a few times and if I fell I'm failing the quest I can always exit via subquest. I didn't know about the ballista weapons and how much damage is dealt to the tail so not sure if parts breaker or HG earplugs is better. I should just go for the tail next time. Was trying to figure out the fight the first 5 times with chameloes armour (fire bad) LOL. Used the kaiser to even survive to the second phase. What a ridiculous challenge LOL I was not sure it was possible. For me, it wouldn't have been possible. I only beat 4U a year ago for the first time, with GOG being my ultimate challenge. It demolished me dozens of times even as a seasoned Monster Hunter player. To this day, my favorite and hardest final boss.
Good job. I feel you couldve abused mounting more. Gravios back not being broken is clear sign of not enough mounts. Its the easiest to mount monster in the game

this one still cringes every time you call the purple crab 'Plume Day-myo' pretty sure it's 'Plum' as in the fruit and color, and 'Daimyo', a japanese word pronounced with an 'I' as in 'Night'
I make the mistake of pronouncing "ai" as "ay," thanks to Pokemon (at least, in my mind, when I read stuff without thinking about it). However, it is supposed to be "Day-myo," for the closest phonetic match. The "plume" part is clearly wrong. The "e" in plume changes the "u" to a long sound and blah, blah. It's "pluhm," obviously. I think that's a brain thing on his end, with learning things the wrong way and then internalizing it. We all have those, and most of us catch them in time.

Yeah, the no abandon rule was kinda weird since it's identical to just failing the quest and reverting the save.
