    The final version of bayonet for the venerable M-1 Garand rifle. That blade shape/style was in style for a long time; my M16A1 rifle bayonet had the same blade and grip style, only the attachment "bits" were different. Very well done restoration, Sir.

    The M5 was developed during the Korean war, but it was not used by the deployed troops during the war. They designed this bayonet based on what they learned during the Korean war.

  • @hottoddy1971
    @hottoddy1971 2 года назад +2

    This was not a restoration. You destroyed the peen on the pommel and drilled out the rivets on the lug guide, along with the rivet for the guard retainer. This was completely unnecessary. Then you refinished with cold blue. Should have been bead blasted and reparkerized. What little collectability that knife had when you started, it was gone by the time you were done. As a US military bayonet collector, this was truly cringeworthy to watch.

    I realize so many like to "cold blue" the blade of knives, but I like a very nicely polished blade myself. But otherwise you did a great refurbishing of this knife. A highly polished blade is a lot harder to start rusting again...

    Well done, I have the US M6 bayonet, by Imperial, with scabbard. You did a first rate job. Too bad you could have parkanize the blade, its really not supposed to be blued. More of a green color. But non the less very impressive.
