The final version of bayonet for the venerable M-1 Garand rifle. That blade shape/style was in style for a long time; my M16A1 rifle bayonet had the same blade and grip style, only the attachment "bits" were different. Very well done restoration, Sir.
The M5 was developed during the Korean war, but it was not used by the deployed troops during the war. They designed this bayonet based on what they learned during the Korean war.
This was not a restoration. You destroyed the peen on the pommel and drilled out the rivets on the lug guide, along with the rivet for the guard retainer. This was completely unnecessary. Then you refinished with cold blue. Should have been bead blasted and reparkerized. What little collectability that knife had when you started, it was gone by the time you were done. As a US military bayonet collector, this was truly cringeworthy to watch.
Does anyone know what that orange liquid is that he soaked the knives in after applying Blueing fluid, currently working on saving a couple of these myself with a buddy of mine and would really like to know. Thank you!
I realize so many like to "cold blue" the blade of knives, but I like a very nicely polished blade myself. But otherwise you did a great refurbishing of this knife. A highly polished blade is a lot harder to start rusting again...
Well done, I have the US M6 bayonet, by Imperial, with scabbard. You did a first rate job. Too bad you could have parkanize the blade, its really not supposed to be blued. More of a green color. But non the less very impressive.
I have one just like that my great grandfather used when he faught in Korea (he faught in the Second World War too). Mine is in near mint condition. Just a bit scratched no rust
Feels odd seeing someone put that much work into restoring a tool that I was able to find in basically new condition for $40 at my local antique mall a few years ago.
Restoring knives like this is a rather unique way to honor those who served, @lostandrestored!
Fantastic restoration! Better than new.
What a refreshing ending lol!

I don’t know why but I really love the restoration of bayonets. It’s like history becomes alive again.

Finíssimo trabalho 👏👏👏👏🇧🇷
Bel lavoro! Bravo!
Wait, why does the knife have a clicker? What is the clicker for?
Good question
It's to attach at the front of their gun.
what's the reason mount and dismantle the vise?
Does anyone know what that orange liquid is that he soaked the knives in after applying Blueing fluid, currently working on saving a couple of these myself with a buddy of mine and would really like to know. Thank you!
Increíble reparación. Tengo una y vine a encontrar oro.
What was the button for on the side?
Are the inside part's the same as a M-6?
Very professional restoration. Especially impressed by how you restored the scales...Well done!
Thanks, I’m glad the handle grip turned out so well.
It could have been more professional if the metal parts were parkerized, and not blued. Good job anyway.
Great!

that was perfect
Sweet 👍🏻 👍🏻
I have one from my great grandfather that was his in ww2. He was in the navy.
WOW! Seems like a brand new bayonet! (And in the final sequence, a "subtle" message: "Subscribe, or..."😅)
Looks in pretty good shape compared to some of the things you have saved. Wonder if the old girl saw any "inside" action ?
That’s a really good question. I always wonder what’s the back story on these lost items.
Another job well done. Good restoration and yes, another "lost" now restored.
What was the button for🤨
To release the bayonet after it was placed on the rifle.
Watching this in 2021 ;)
Whilst the use of plastic weld and superglue may be alright for a superficial repair, it wont hold up to extensive use. still, a nice display piece
super!!!
Wonderful restoration of military weapon. I have my uncle's ww2 military knife. He was a navy signal man.

He’s great knifemaker 🔪
I think this knife is very valuable!!! Great job, fellow!!! 👍
It’s not very) valuable.. maybe worth 120 150$
@@nathanschmidtke5901 Not now after his type of restoration maybe 20 to 45 dollars
Lol 😆, it’s valuable because this knife is very rarest item in the world. I’m sure bidders will motivate to get this cool knife 🔪
Great video, 1 question where did you get the parts “screws and spring” I’m trying to restore mine 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Try Ebay, They have parts. Possibly even a scabbard. Good luck
what is the button for in the handle? 12:27
It detaches it from the rifle.
How much
От какого оружия этот штык-нож?
M1 garand
@ET Hardcorgamer Only M1 Garand . Bayonet lugs are not the same on M 16 or bolt action rifles . Sure you’re not familiar with weaponry .
Good job. But, if you agree, I think the blade shoud be better worked
I wanted to keep some of the original wear on the knife and its history.
Que maravilha!!!
Из чего они делают эти клинки листовая железо наверное простая не сталь

Фантастика
ok It's valid.
настоящая реставрация
Why are your videos fast? We can't see anything. 12. 22 ?
Eu queria saber pra que serve o super blue
👍👍👍

한국인 지나갑니다~
Actually a bayonet wouldn’t have that cross guard that is a switch blade
Huh. So you had to grease then heat up the metal in order to break the handle
5/5 *
Bom !
The M5 is not from the Korean War because bayonet was adopted by the U.S. military in 1953 when war was end,,, :-)
Check Wikipedia on the M5.

Its not the value of the knife it's the vid that makes him money
