    Murders at Karlov Manor is Magic: the Gathering's newest set! In this video, I break down how every Green card will play in Draft and Sealed.
    What my grades mean:
    I use a letter grade system, and my grades usually fall into a bell curve (Very few A’s and F’s, lots of C’s.)
    A - Bombs that are always your first pick, they completely warp the game in your favor, and they easily pull you into their color(s). You always first pick these. These are cards you are ecstatic to have in your deck. Most sets have 15-20 of these. Tend to mostly be Mythics or Rares, though sometimes an Uncommon gets there.
    (Unstable Glyph Bridge, Zoetic Glyph, Aclazotz, Deepest Betrayal)
    B - Premium removal spells and highly efficient creatures, often worth first picking. Still strong enough to pull you into their colors, but not quite as game or draft warping as A’s are. These are cards you feel good about having in your deck, and you would play several copies of most of them. Mostly Uncommons and higher, but there are usually 5-10 commons that get there too.
    (Oltec Cloud Guard, Inverted Iceberg, Join the Dead)
    C - Filler. These are cards you neither feel good or bad about having in your deck. You play them if you’re in their colors, but they don’t tempt you to go into their color at all. Usually includes reasonably efficient creatures, good combat tricks, and removal spells. These appear at all rarities, but are most frequently Common. (Ironpaw Aspirant, Brackish Blunder, River Herald Guide)
    D - Playable in an emergency. These are cards that you don’t feel so good about playing, but in a pinch, sometimes you just have to play them. These are often inefficient vanilla creatures or overly narrow cards. These appear at all rarities. (Frilled Cave Wurm, Glowcap Lantern, Seeker of Sunlight)
    F - Unplayable. These are cards that you should never play. There are very few of these in modern Limited formats, but they do appear at all rarities, with the most usually appearing at Rare and Common. These are cards whose effects are pretty much useless or overly narrow. (The Enigma Jewel, Canonized in Blood, Hit the Mother Lode)
    There are two categories of cards that I give two grades to: Build Arounds and Sideboard Cards.
    Build Around: These are cards that need special synergy to be at their best - synergy that won’t just come naturally. For these cards, I give one grade indicating how I think the card will perform in a typical deck of that color, and another grade if you manage to get there on synergy. (Gargantuan Leech, Terror Tide, Throne of the Grim Captain)
    Sideboard Cards: These are generally cards that are Ds or Fs in your mainboard, but can perform much better out of the sideboard - at least as a C or higher
    (Tectonic Hazard, Malicious Eclipse)

      These are among the best videos you can watch for Pauper Edh as well, because, in my opinion, the powerlevel somewhat reflects draft.

    I know its still not a great card, but clearly the intended gimmick of Rope is that combined with Suspect it makes your creatures unblockable (Can't be blocked by more than one + Menace = unblockable)

  • @therealHLY
    @therealHLY 7 месяцев назад +12

    I feel like the idea behind rope is to work with the Suspect mechanic too makea creature unblockable, but green itself doesn't really have enough suspect stuff for it to feel like its worth it

    • @Pedun42
      @Pedun42 7 месяцев назад +2

      I think the effect rope gives is one of the best clue equipments. Yes it makes suspected creatures unblockable but it also makes green's larger than average creatures basically unlikable while attacking save for a combat trick or removal spell. The big downside is the 3 equip cost which makes it pretty clunky.

    Slime against humanity also checks to see if the set's 1 ooze (the new Vannifar at mythic) is in your graveyard or exile, which doesn't really affect the card evaluation, but is something to consider if you already have Vannifar and see it in a pack

      @@aguyyouneverknewmost (all?) the “battalion” cards in the set does not actually have battalion. Battalion requires that creature to be one of the three+ attacking creatures while here you just need to attack with any 3+ creatures.

    Case of the Locked Hothouse was a big bomb for me. Won every single game where I played it. Ended up getting first at my store’s draft, too! I was in Simic, so drawing cards, playing lands, and ramping wasn’t hard. Getting it online was easy, and then I ran away with the game!

  • @frowacki

    After playing with it, Axebane Ferox feels like a total bomb. When it comes out in the early game, it’s rarely removable. When it comes out in late game, it’s a constant threat that requires a bit to interact with.

    The “can’t be blocked by more thank one creature” on Rope seems potentially solid if you have a beefcake especially with trample.

    Collecting evidence on 'bite down on crime' just makes it 2 generic mana cheaper. I don't see how that in any way impacts its clunkiness. It doesn't change the speed of the spell or anything. In fact, it actually costs you cards in the graveyard now so it may be a larger loss.

    • @NizzahonMagic
      @NizzahonMagic  7 месяцев назад

      Clunkiness refers to mana cost too, so it is definitely less clunky. Still clunky for sure, but less so.

    Undergrowth recon. Man you are missing the main value here. esp with multiple fetch lands.
    It's not JUST the extra mana, it's the removing the lands from your deck increasing your chances later in the game.
    ESP on arena where late game one player only draws lands and the other draws spells when arena wants the game to just end based on a hidden timer.

       @NizzahonMagic When you run 17 lands and by turn 5 you now have 8-9 lands left, its a big deal. by turn 6 now you could have as little as 5 lands left in your deck. that's a huge deal when nobody has cards and both players are top decking. ( which happens A LOT in Limited. Its like land tax. The power of land tax isn't only drawing you the lands, its the removing of them from the deck when you don't want to draw any lands.
