36:18 Unfortunately, Wrenn and Realmbreaker's +1 does not untap the land, so no ramp or immediate protection. However, on T3, I don't think they will be in immediate threat of being destroyed. Assuming you +1, five loyalty is hard to beat early. Starting T4, the land will be able to protect Wrenn and Realmbreaker.
I LOVE the art on Storm the Seedcore! It looks more like a mural then a card. Like a historical piece of art, actually meant to commemorate some great and important event. Like the one of George Washington crossing the Delaware River.
Agreed! It also feels like the art is one section of a larger work, it would be so cool if they distributed other sections among a cycle of other cards but I don't think that's the case.
Atraxa's Fall hits 1/3rd of the card (faces) in the set. 296 cards, around 100 of which are an Artifact, Enchantment, Battle, or Creature with flying. Depends on how you count all the two sided cards.
Also, there are at least 2 cards that increase the number of +1/+1 counters (Kami of Whispered Hopes 20:00 + Ozolith, the Shattered Spire 21:00 ), so it could distribute 8 or 12 counters onto 4 creatures!
35:34 Wary Thespian's art and flavor text are shivering: the Elsh Norn influence alters lots of people/stuff simultaneously and "harmonically" in an almost-flawless way. If it would be real, it would be one of the most frightening situation ever
It really feels to me like it was supposed to be one of the cards that flips into a phyrexian. The symbol motif and his being impressed with the unison sounds like compleation waiting to happen.
I think you're under valuing Ravenous Sailback. There are so many Incubate tokens tacked onto cards this set, that I am guessing you almost always have a target to hit with its second mode.
19:03 I disagree with the statement that there haven’t been similar cards which were impressive. Sure, this particular one I don’t think will be, but sunbathing rootwalla for example in DMU was quite impressive imo
24:51 incubator tokens are artifacts both before and after they are transformed, I can see plenty of boards having something you can blow up Overall I feel this review series overrated many battle cards, especially those of higher rarity - but I am excited to be proven wrong. In any case MoM looks like an exciting format.
You forgot that vengeful earth can effectively give +4/+4 to a (transformed) incubator, so I'd argue the first copy can be a C- in a deck that incubates a lot
I didn't forget, I just didn't mention it. We've seen cards that were supposed to be good with a similar token in Square Up, and it was awful. Still don't think its enough.
26:50 I don't think this is a particularly good card but you definitely overestimate how many times you'll hit two non-permanents. Even if you have 5 instants/sorceries in your deck, which would be a lot for a green deck frankly, the chance of you actually hitting two of them off of this is less than 1%.
You can cast imperiosaur turn 4 with a lucky curve or ramp or turn 5 quite reliably, it kills your opponent almost straight away if not answered if that is not a bomb I dont know what is
The situation you just described is the ideal one, you even called it a lucky curve. You can't give a card a grade based on its best case scenario alone, you have to consider all possible outcomes and weigh them appropriately.
Ravenous Sailback feels like ist usually going to lack targets, this set is littered with incubate tokens. Not that a 3/4 for 5 that kills a 2/2 on entering is that fantastic.
31:39 well actually it's not the Mana value that's challenging (because its MV, like its CMC, is just 3) it's juste it's Mana Cost ! (Yes, I'm annoying, but that's WotC fault !)
@@NizzahonMagic I'm referring to the white one that does 3 damage to an attacking or blocking creature. Some people might call it a removal spell because it's targeted damage, but since it can't hit anything that doesn't get into combat, I'd consider it a trick. If you don't count that, then there's only one 1-mana removal spell in this entire format!
I didn't take an official count, but is Green's average in this set a solid B? I mean, considering Wizard's hardon for the color the last 6 years, it wouldn't surprise me. But based on grades alone I think Golgari is the color pair that will consume the format.
also selesnya for the +1/+1 counters and Backup things (remember, there are at least 2 cards that increase the number of +1/+1 counters : Kami of Whispered Hopes 20:00 + Ozolith, the Shattered Spire 21:00 )
Hi there, I think that Vengeant Earth is underrated regarding the Incubate mechanic which provide phyrexian tokens with X +1/+1 counters, which means a 2/2 could become a 6/6 which must be blocked thanks to this tricks. Otherwise I agree, it's poor.
People said the same thing about Square Up and Fractals in Strixhaven, and it ended up being unplayable. Granted, this can also do stuff with lands, but I think its still a D-.
Teeka'a Dragon and Wood Elemental 8{G} (gotta stay 9 cmc) Artifact Creature Flying, Trample As this creature enters the battlefield, sacrifice X untapped Forests, this creature gains Rampage X. Teeka's Dragon and Wood Elemental count as a Dragon Elemental 5/5
Everyone keeps hyping up the Wrenn card saying that it protects itself, but it doesn't untap the land. It could protect itself, but a 3/3 on turn 4 isn't that much of a wall against 3/1's, etc. In that case, you only have 1 mana up yourself for a trick which is unlikely. It seems like a much later drop and at that point it might be outclassed... just -2 to get some value out of it and hope they attack a battle instead Edit: it is good that it would have 5 loyalty!! Maybe you just don't care that that first hit gets in 🤔
Green is looking unimpressive in this set. The Green payoffs feel too dependent on ramp. You have to be firmly Green to use a lot of the good Green cards, and the fixing cards also only really work when you are base Green so it's not a great splash color. Maybe I'll be swayed in the Archetypes video and going back over the multicolored but not super excited to be playing Green here
You can definitely be two for oned. Your opponent can respond by removing your creature. I am aware it is a bite and not a fight. We have seen that card many times and it is always really good, but never above a B-, even with the battle upside.
Is it just me, or does Wary Thespian feel like it was supposed to be a flip card and they just forgot to add it? You have the phyrexian symbol motif and the thespian himself seems pretty impressed by the "perfect unison" which seems like begging for compleation.
Ancient Imperosaur can drop as a 12/12 on turn 4. With ward 2 and most removal at 3-4 mana this gets to swing once or twice. Not a bomb? See you on the "What did I get wrong?" video :D
Tbf he still gave it a B+ lol. Ward is great for ...well, warding off the enemy, but they can usually easily pay 2 and "destroy target creature." This thing will definitely wreck havoc if it resolves and attacks, but that isn't always guaranteed.
The more I see Card Kingdom adverts, the more I realize why their cards are twice the price of tcgplayer! I swear who can afford that?! Besides the "creators" who get ad money?
I’d happily support a company that (a) sponsors content creators in addition to affiliated links (tcg no longer directly sponsors content creators), (b) is unionized, (c) buys cards at fair prices, and (d) isn’t pushing all the prices down so that other stores have to race to the bottom and cut their margins.
TCGplayer and Card Kingdom have totally different business models. People who like shopping on EBay will go for TCGplayer, people who are uncomfortable with that will go for Card Kingdom. And as someone who uses both, CK basically never costs twice as much as a card on TCG, and on occasion is even cheaper. Usually, it’s just a bit more expensive.

Common mistakes, because most green planeswalkers untap land. Still Wrenn look great, but is more like 4 drop then 3 drop.

Thanks for the stats....i thought it was decent at first glance and this confirms it
36:18 there is no untap, no ramp and no 3/3 on curve. Everyone makes that mistake.
"Polukranos, Wurmcoil Engine" was great 😂😂
27:12 Storm the Seedcore is worth picking up on the art alone, my goodness.

Fair enough. It was way stronger because of Domain, but I did leave it fairly broad

I’m excited about the draft in five days. My favorite color looks fantastic
@19:48 There aren't "a bunch of one-mana removal spells" in this format though? There's one red sorcery and one white combat trick, both at uncommon.
Since when is a combat trick a removal spell?
@@NizzahonMagic I'm referring to the white one that does 3 damage to an attacking or blocking creature. Some people might call it a removal spell because it's targeted damage, but since it can't hit anything that doesn't get into combat, I'd consider it a trick.

It's still a travesty Teeka's Dragon couldn't get a duo legendary retrain. But I guess when you already have perfection, it's hard to improve it.

Every opponent I play on Arena in limited easily gets to 8 mana in 8 or less turns because shuffler and matchmaker are fine "working as intended"
Wait, this is nuts. Arena tutor literally copies your comments word for word on their draft helper thing
The D+ on the 8/8 just seems wrong.
We've come a long way from craw wurm, that's for sure.

So many bombs in this format😊
Cosmic hunger isn't fight a creature, it's just damage a creature. Way better and not able to be 2 for 1'd. I'd say a B+
