    Or for a method that works - put it into a container buried in dry rice or flour. It’ll trap the gas needed to speed up ripening. It’ll take overnight to work.
    In this video it was ripe before it went into the oven to be cooked (cooked not ripened).

  • @ivyjoylax

    I tried this and it worked. I put it in the oven 2 times, for 10 minutes, at 200 degrees. So it was a total of 20 minutes for me. I put in 3 avocados at once, on a baking sheet. After the 20 minutes, I left them in there to soften, when the oven was off. So surprised it actually worked. 😳 While the oven was off, if there was a hard side, I just took turns rotating it on its hard side until all sides were soft! Thank you for this hack! I was able to make guac the same day! 🥑😅

    • @MiinaMarie
      @MiinaMarie 16 дней назад +1

      I wonder if leaving them in the foil is a good idea to cool down. I know they say you shouldn't do that with baked potatoes

  • @nereidapr1
    @nereidapr1 7 лет назад +19

    Very interesting. First time I see that you can make them riper faster that way. We do put them in the oven but we wait days. I also learned this summer that you can put your avocado in the frig and it will stop from ripen to fast. People put the seeds in water but if you plant them in compost, the avocado grows much healthier. I have one that this summer gave around 1 hundred avocados. and in July I planted 2 seeds 1 avocado is sweat and the second one is more buttery. Loved and Subbed.

    • @gericlarke
      @gericlarke 3 года назад +2

      Really..? By seed you mean the big stone? How many did you plant to get 1 hundred? Do l water them? Can they be outdoors? Will l need to protect them from frost? where do you live? Is it a warm country?

    You can put them in a paper sack with a very ripe banana, scrunch the top of the sack down, and sit on your counter for a day or so. They'll rippen quickly due to the banana off gassing.

      No you do not. This video is telling you lies. Actually you do not Ripen the Avocado in any way. All that is happening is that the heat is making your Avocado soft and incapable of Ripening further witch means it will start to decompose shortly after you take it out of the Oven. It WON'T Ripen just because you heat it up.

    That avocado looked pretty ripe to begin with. Are you sure this isn't just heating up and softening an already ripe avocado? If I put in a green, hard avocado, am I going to have a completely ripened avocado after 10 minutes? I'm dubious.
