I'd love a feature length 1000 yard shootout video where you put budget rifles against your custom rifles. Throw in the NLR, the Bergara, the Ruger Precision, and whatever else ya got that can reach out that far. Some cheaper savage, mossberg, and ruger options. Maybe even some SAPR's. I'd love to see how much the extra money really helps at 1000+.
I have the Bergara B-14 HMR in 6.5 Creedmoor. It is awesome and I am getting 0.3 MOA with match ammo. I had to back order the gun as no one had them in stock. Cabellas said that it was back ordered for 5 weeks but it arrived in about 10 days. If Nutnfancy was using a better scope and better ammo he would be showing much better groups. The stock feels great and looks fantastic. Comes threaded for a muzzle break or silencer. Trigger is very nice. No issues at all with this gun.
will foy I watched twang n bang's review. Bought it based on that. Nutn just made me feel better about it as I have not shot it yet. Had to pick glass which I poached off my ar15. Now if UPS brings my rings tomorrow I will be at an indoor range getting a 25 yard zero then next day off I will get it to 100 yards.
Love my Remington 700, had a 1993 with wooden stock with pearl white trim on a wooden stock. inherited and passed over to a cousins family, and now I still have my fathers 2003 R700 and its reliable, and as beautiful as can be. Big downside is living and never left Georgia, vacationing in souther GA and alabam, I never had the chance to shoot over 400 yards.
Bought my first Remington Model 700 back in 72 or 73.... Most current purchase about 10 years ago..... a CDL in 25-06.... My response to this video is to let you know that from the early 70s to now, I have owned and shot many different Remington Model 700 rifles in standard and magnum calibers and use some of them in the role of sniper rifle in LE and some of them for small game and general field shooting and many of them for big game hunting. I tailored hand-loads to each rifle regardless of caliber. The majority of these 700s were "off the shelf" non-modified bedding rifles with Leupold scopes of either vari or fixed power installed. Sighted and tested at 100 yards, sand bag rest, three shot groups ala Jack O'Conner and Elmer Kieth.... It has been my pleasure in using Remington Model 700 bolt action rifles over 40 years, to experience groups of 3 that usually went 3/8ths - 1/4 in. and rarely went over 1/2 in...... I did have a couple that had bedding issues and would not group below 1.1/4 in. without being glass bedded, but they were the exception to the rule. The guys that I shot with in the late 70s during the growing silhouette games enjoyed that model 700 accuracy in that pursuit as well. Yes, some went for the Sako extractors as did I for a trial or two, but in forty + years, and thousands of rounds under the 4 seasons of conditions year after year, I have not experienced nor seen a Remington extractor fail! The fact is, a sub 1/2 in. rifle will turn in a credible group at 1,000 yards and the rifles that I spoke of in the above paragraph were all sporter weight hunting rifles in common hunting calibers! I have owned Remington Model 700 ADL rifles equipped with 3-9 Leupold scopes in .300 Win Mag. and Hand-loaded for with 180 gr. Nosler BTBT bullets that gave three shot groups of 1/4 in. any time it was tested from the bench..... It shot very well out to 1,000 yards back in those days as well. There might be some rifle that perform better than some Remingtons, but Remington still produces the 700 because when attached to a good barrel like the 5R, it shoots.....maybe its the shooters out there that can't get it done....
Longest range I have access to here in N.E. Ohio is 200 yds. So my bolt action gun is a CZ 527 in .223 with set trigger and full-length stock. At 100 yards, I shoot a CZ 453 American Varmint with set trigger in 22lr.
Get OUT of my HEAD!!!! LOL, I was JUST wondering where this review was and if I'd missed it somehow. I've been hmm'ing and hawing over whether to go with this Bergara, a Savage 10FCP-SR, the Tika T3X or a few others but I REALLY wanted to see this TNP review first. Hats off, I'm so glad to have this (and the Lever-action review) to watch on a sunday evening while I sit here holding and fiddling with my newest AR build fresh out of paint. This is the kind of info/review that drew me to TNP in the first place.
I don't see why anyone would buy a remington 700 when you van buy a tikka t3x for similar money. It's a totally different class of rifle out of the box.
if youre buying new yes, new 700s arent as good but an old 700 is better. 700 has the reputation as the most accurate production rifle and thats why people buy them. If you ask me savage is best for the money
Awesome video! I snagged one of the first ones of these in 6.5 creedmoor and it has been a great Rifle! Mine had a similar scenario at the very beginning I did a minor break in process and it was hovering around 1.3 inch groups but after 25 rounds it tightened up and has rocked ever since! Well under moa with quality ammo and 100% reliable. Bergara really knocked it out of the park on this one for the money! Don't even think twice just buy it! I was comparing it to the ruger PR and the savage stealth BA stealth and I have to say the flexibility and ergos of the HMR win hands down for me! Buy a reloading setup because your gonna wanna shoot it alot!
I’ve got the 6.5 version and love it! Mines gonna be a base gun for a project like the NLR. I’m going proof carbon barrel , manner’s stock . Gonna be a beast!
Great video. I would love to see the Ruger American Predator in the soon to be released Magpul American Hunter stock with the Magpul bottom metal that takes AICS mags. Sub $800 build with the same accuracy potential as the Bergara plus 100% American made and second cool looks.
Don't know about you, but I usually don't keep good track of what $$$ I have in build and often underestimate, partly for plausible deniability. So yeah, I wouldn't sell a build either.
I love to shoot long range. I had to move for work and finding a new place to shoot has been extremely difficult. The best I can find within an hour and a half drive is 500yds. So I heard that shooting a 22 lr at 300 yds is the same as a .308 at 1000yds.
I have been looking for a bolt action rifle for a long time and have not yet found what I want (too lazy to mod or go custom) I saw this gun last week at Bass Pro and almost pulled the trigger, BUT I thought in my head; I really wish Nutnfancy would review it!. I am heading to buy one this week - Thank you!!!!! Also some more KRVs - Im looking at the Condor Undertaker bowie and the TOPS ElChette (cool name) and need a all truth Nutn review - Keep up the good work.
I have one sitting in my safe now. Damn it USPS get me my rings! They will be here tomorrow. I am hoping to get similar performance from my 6.5 I bought recently.
Anchor Bait, Quote: "Does Mrs nuttn know you passed up $3,200?? Haha" She does now. LOL We may not see another Nutn video from the Col. until the swelling goes down and his eyesight heals. It's his own fault for insisting that they use cast iron cooking utensils.
If you think that a rifle you're testing could stand up to the challenge, I, and probably a lot of other guys on here, would say it's worth it to push out to extreme ranges in testing. It's your time and money, of course, but I think a lot of us would enjoy really seeing the maximum potential of the precision rifles you test. The views would probably make up for the extra time spent.
Here's the drill, Bill. If the grid goes down with an EMP burst and people lose their minds and get ugly, the days of providing cover fire with a bump fire or an Echo trigger are over. We going to be back on the edge of medieval times. No joke. So every bullet you send downrange brings YOU closer to being the one getting shot. Nobody's going to be making anymore. There won't be your old, friendly LGS to mosey on down to, to get a box of ammo, anymore. "Click" is a lonely sound at the end of times. This weapon Nutnfancy's showing here, a long distance weapon, is the new cover fire King. Your adversaries will be pissed after crawling 800-1000 yards to your position only to find you turned into dust. And if you wound one of them in the process, great.
Nutnfancy, when are you going to look at a 6.5 Grendel AR-15!!! The ballistics on it are King for fitting in the AR-15 platform and prices of ammo have come down substantially, you can now get wolf steel case for as low as $0.28 a round
one source for very accurate rifles is if you can find a ex-bench rest rifle. Sometime they can be found for less than your firstborn child. What a bench rest shooter sells as a shot out rifle will likely be way more accurate than what you can shoot. I bought a 308 four years ago that that will put 168 sierras into the 2s regularly but was gotten rid of because it won't shoot in the 15s any more.
nickanto in my personal opinion I know it’s not the same for all but the 700 feels like a extension of my body it just works it flows and it’s always on target. Just like my 870. It’s just one of those things and I’m not fan boying over Remington.
Wow nutn, l.r.p. is my favorite but least often dicipline of shooting, that said. That bugera is the best south of 2 large bolt gun out there, I've run one at thunder valley precision out to 1000 with tremendous success however I just couldn't take my ohoes of that tikka.Talk about gun porn holy c%7p. Congrats on that build lmao
Guys, we need to kill these bills: HR3962, HR3999, HR4025, HR4052. Consider yourself a patriot and 2A absolutest? You will call your federal representative today and ask them to take a stand. No, not tomorrow, today. Writing compelling letters are even better. Goforth my fellow citizens, and fight.
So I'm a young adult, that loves the outdoors and been watching this channel for years growing up. And I'm finally 21, and want to start collecting and shooting more. But I live in california. So I kinda wanted your opinion if I should wait to buy pistols and rifles when I move in a couple years to Utah or Texas? Or buy ca compliant guns and try to sell them when I leave? And I am gonna get a benelli shot gun but I was more curious about rifles and pistols. And if reselling and using now would be worth it. Thanks nutn
William Randall , don't wait. Get a "compliant" rifle NOW and go training with appleseedinfo.org as to build your skills, which don't come to anyone overnight.
M K I was reading the new laws in california and its utterly ridiculous. I'm gonna go in to a mom and pop shop and talk to him about it. Because stores have to have a license for ammo and I have to have a background check for ammo. And I can't order online to my house, it must be to a dealer and then me. Plus bullet button rifles are now "assault" weapons which is even more of a headache. I'm even scared for my shotgun montefeltro I want if it will also have to be compliant in some way
$700 for a bolt rifle turns my stomach, and much more at $7000. I've got a remington 770 in 300 win mag that serves me well. One day I'd like to get a savage 110 ba stealth regardless of the price. If the quality is there, then I'll spwnd more. However, savage is notorious for great accuracy. I want one is .308 and .338 lapua.
Hey nutn everyone seems to be digging the compensators on carry guns you should do a video on what you think about them and maybe some good brands?? Thanks! Preferably on a G19
@nutnfancy could you do a video on how an average but educated gun buyer would go about purchasing through gunbroker.com or similar websites? A step by step? It would be greatly appreciated.
I'd buy the hell out of that...if they put a 24 inch barrel on it (in 6.5 Creedmoor). I'll take the little bit of extra weight for added precision ("yeah, but shorter barrels have less "whip"...")
rambocambo75 I know. I like the stock on this one better. I guess I could buy both, swap the stocks, then sell the other off but kinda kills the price point advantage over the Tikka.
NUTN! I live right by gunnies in orem , any interest in doing a review on my glock 30s? , I know you've done the 30 already, but I find this one to have some different shooting and carrying characteristics because of it's frankenstein design. If at all interested, reach out to me here to let me know when you would want to pick it up from gunnies.
I don’t know those rings look like they have some MOA built in just comparing the gap between the base and the scope compared from front to back but it could be an optical illusion...
As someone who owns a R700 5R 308, and Savage 10FCP LE with the McMillan Stock 308, and now this Bergara HMR in 308. I will tell you flat out buy the Bergara...
IMD918 great idea

wild bill what glass did you decide to go with? I’ll be throwing my NightForce SHV 4-14x50 F1 on it. Picking it up on Friday.
You guys are living the dream! Best wishes from your fans here in the UK.
Some of the best groups you've shot, Nutn.
Usually they suck, lol.
Love my Remington 700, had a 1993 with wooden stock with pearl white trim on a wooden stock.

I love this rifle been wanting it for awhile love it perfect for long range shooting and hunting and the 6.5 is even more accurate
Bergara makes great barrels. Since the 1500's
Thank you for this review. I've been looking at Bergara rifles for a little while. This review has been very helpful.
Amazing what happens when a manufacturer goes with an industry standard magazine rather than developing a cheap proprietary one...
Longest range I have access to here in N.E. Ohio is 200 yds. So my bolt action gun is a CZ 527 in .223 with set trigger and full-length stock. At 100 yards, I shoot a CZ 453 American Varmint with set trigger in 22lr.

Oh man, I've been waiting for this one. Good job!
That is an awesome looking build. Not surprised someone made you an offer on it

Those hundreds are what I know as fun coupons
Nooo. Now I will never be able to find one of these guns.
Here instead of watching NFL.
It has the shoulder thing that goes up. Makes it easier to use with a bump stock
I’ve got the 6.5 version and love it! Mines gonna be a base gun for a project like the NLR. I’m going proof carbon barrel , manner’s stock . Gonna be a beast!

Great review, I've been looking at this gun short while back.
Need to see a CZ rifle review one with the set trigger system
The set trigger is scary light. You breath on it wrong and it'll go off! Not really, but it's almost too light for anything but shooting off a bench.
That's how my 527fs is.
I have been looking for a really nice bolt action. You sold me.
You better get this piece:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steyr_SSG_69
Great video Nutn. That kind of accuracy for sub $1000?Yeah I'm interested.
I’ve been looking for my first quality bolt gun, and I’ve found it.

LarryC213 wow, the escalation of force in that joke escalated quickly. Haha :)
Wow, this is seriously perfect for the kit I've been looking to put together......
Well time to start saving. More bolt guns please

I'm literally drooling right now. I just dribbled slobber on my phone.
I have a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in .308 that I bought in 2013 and put a Redfield 3-9x40 scope on it. Still have not sighted it in yet.
Gotta load your own for optimal long range precision and consistency. Trial and error to find what works best for an individual rifle.
Fancy, Which do you prefer? Tikka T3 or Bergara? (Presume similarly priced models)
CZ 557 Varmint 308 Win, best value out there!
Thank you! I was waiting for you to do a table top after that RPR (Ruger) review.
I looked at one yesterday. Seems like a sweet rifle.
Love the Patreon preview! Sweet rifle Nutn
Thanks for being TNP Patreon David and you bet. I will generally do that!

That sunburn is going to be brutal later
love the vids and I hope you keep making bolt action rifle videos
Keep pullin it! Loving the GRV’s !
Thanks for another in depth review.
Another great one Nutn’.
Thank you.
Any chance you have had a chance to study the Tikka T3x A1 Tac? Curious as to how it compares to your NLR.
MP 2.0 Compact review? Thanks, and as always great video.
Really hoping they offer this rifle in 6mm Creedmoor in the near future.
yah Ltc.fancy with the long range love you bro
Less than a thousand $ that can hit relatively well at a thousand yards! Oh baby
Nothing is better than the good old Remington 700.
Sackmatters it's funny that he compares it to the cheapest model 700 too, it's like comparing a walmart knife to a 400$ spyderco.
Yes, a 300$ ruger American or savage Axis will outshoot most 700s out of the box.
nickanto in my personal opinion I know it’s not the same for all but the 700 feels like a extension of my body it just works it flows and it’s always on target. Just like my 870. It’s just one of those things and I’m not fan boying over Remington.
Sackmatters same here with mine. I'm not some guy making 1000+ yards everyday, so for what I need it's perfect.
rex in hunting conditions it’s amazing. Especially the after market support.
Sick gun man
Mrs. Nutn shoots more than Suspect does (he's scared of guns and/or too busy playing PUBG). Deep as fuck voice tho, like a lumberjack
Keep it up Nutn thank you!
Awesome. Thank you.
I think I could hit the green target at 1,000 yards with my custom built Remington 700 .308 😁 would take a few trys
Wow I'm sold!!
I know my friend can can hit that green target at 1000 yards he was a sniper in the army his longest shot was 1800 yards
That is a lot of rifle for the price. I expected at least $300 more then that.
I would watch a 1000y gun shoot out/comparison video.
I'm getting this!

TNP at its best. Great review!
@nutnfancy could you do a video on how an average but educated gun buyer would go about purchasing through gunbroker.com or similar websites? A step by step? It would be greatly appreciated.
Keep up the great work Nutn!
But Nutn',
I thought you didn't like thumb hole stocks!..
Bergara vs Mossberg MVP anyone have opinions?
Bergara all the way mvp is finicky I have two one is 1 moa the other is like 2 1/2
Bergara=BMW Mossberg=Kia
so one in the shop all the time but looks pretty and one is meh to look at but is a damn tank?
Here's a question; What DOESN'T beat a Rem 700?
I'm running down a list in my head and coming up with bupkis.
It likes the 168's
Well If I carried 3500 bucks on me Id of offered it too,...LoL
Three rounds isn't a group. Show me ten round groups and then you can talk 1/3 MOA.
That's why you always add 5grand to the actual purchase price, if they add 2g on top of that, i'll take the cash and have a clone made lol.
Love it.
I'd buy the hell out of that...if they put a 24 inch barrel on it (in 6.5 Creedmoor). I'll take the little bit of extra weight for added precision ("yeah, but shorter barrels have less "whip"...")
Julian Stolz they have a competition based model on a chassis with a 24" barrel. $100 more I think.
rambocambo75 I know.
You like this better than the BMP? POU would be PRS Production.
I have one of these .308 it’s amazing, everything about it is smooth especially the trigger
I sure do.
1/3 moa to 1200 yards, but can't hit a milk at 1000 lol.
What do you guys think... 308 or 6.5 cr?? Budget shooter ...
The Eighty Seven Channel it's a push. If you want to get ammo anywhere 308 is the way to go. 6.5 is popular but not as popular as 308.
I dunno if I missed it, but what power scope were you running?
To answer your question at 5:09 No. I do not.
You should review the SIG SAUER SSG3000 ...
Ruger American predator in 6.5 would be a good one to review, I know you have done .308.
If Savage wasn't a choice this would be my top pick. No need to drop 4-8000 on a rifle imho. Nice review.
As someone who owns a R700 5R 308, and Savage 10FCP LE with the McMillan Stock 308, and now this Bergara HMR in 308. I will tell you flat out buy the Bergara...
DurtyHarry2029 what are your reasons if I may ask?
