- The start to Cedar Point's 150th season was significantly delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the park finally opened its gates to the general public in early July. Once I determined that it would be relatively safe for me to visit (masks were mandatory, crowd density would be low) I made my reservation. My goal was to document the day and stay away from other humans. Mission accomplished! I was very impressed with the safety measures put in place by the park. Most of the guests followed the rules, and I was able to keep my distance from those who didn't. All in all, it was a good day. Filmed Tuesday, July 21, 2020.
This made me cry . Cedar point is where I grew up. I hope this gets over soon.

@@ndwatkin07 Opening shot was a GoPro5, time lapse was iPhone, and the bulk of it was shot with a Sony FDR-AX53.
Not only is this Cedar Point's 150th anniversary, it is also Millennium Force's 20th anniversary.
This is my favorite place that I miss and love so much ❤️
Kinda sad, not seeing the huge crowds. But on the bright side, no (or very little) waiting to get to the ride--if it's open!

I’m so happy you finally got some decent footage of my favorite coaster, Top Thrill Dragster! Last year when life was normal you had some bad luck with it. This year it’s been running pretty well so far😁!

Thanks Bob. I nearly got teary eyed. I miss Cedar Point. I am not so close to CP like I was when I lived in Pennsylvania. Cleveland is a 2 hour flight from Orlando, Florida plus another hour or so drive to Sandusky from Cleveland.

You came at a great time. I visited July 31 and the park was absolutely packed. The line for the Steel Vengeance access pass at 3:30 went from its entrance and all the way out of Frontier Town to Camp Snoopy. It was a miracle that I managed to grab one.
Wow, that's crazy. I was lucky that the crowd size was low when I visited. Once they go to weekends only, I fear that the crowd density will keep me away.

Beautiful quality video once again.Thank you Coaster Bob. Cedar Point seems so sad with so many thing closed. I am glad they have some country music outside again. They used to have a nice set up with seats when you exited the Mine Ride many years ago. You should have way more subscribers than you do. I have been watching your channel for several years. I love Cedar Point. I am much older now. I have been going here since I was 15 years old back in 1980.
I remember you, Frankie, and thanks for watching all these years! I graduated high school in 1980, so we're about the same age. It was somewhat surreal to walk around an empty park in the middle of July, especially with the nice weather. Take care!

Great video, loved the edits and camerawork. I’ve been a couple times since this was shot and can say that most of the rides are now open fully. They’ve been assisted by staff from other (still closed) Cedar Fair parks and I have to say, operations have been absolutely fantastic. Cedar Point has so many rides that you usually see at least 2-3 down at any given time of the day but my last couple visits have seen very few breakdowns. I’ve gone 4 times this year and have to say, your video makes me giddy for my 5th visit this weekend!

I agree with an earlier comment, it made me a little sad and I hate that I didn’t get to the park this summer - the necessary restrictions were a deterrent, but it’ll make next year all the better. No place like CP-Good to know people love this place as much as I do!

Just got back from Cedar Point this week.
Even with the low crowds, Top Thrill Dragster still had a 40 minute wait, even with the timed cards they were handing out. Raptor also had about a 40 minute wait but I rode that like right before the park closed, and Raptor's line always gets longer as the day goes on. Other than that crowds were pretty nice. I only waited like 20 minutes MAX for Gatekeeper because Gatekeeper had all 3 trains running and because of how the trains are built, they didn't need to close off every other row.
Idk how long Maverick was: I rode it, but were in line before the park "officially" opened so there were only like 5 people in front of me.
Thank you for posting this. After all of the anticipation for the 150th it's so sad to see such a limping along season. I keep thinking I want to go... Then realize it will be there next year.

If I'm not mistaken, some of the coasters that were not available on the day you visited are now up and running, Coaster Bob. IMO, the worst part about having some coasters down is that the lines for the other coasters are inevitably longer as a result. Excellent cinematography as usual.

Awesome footage! Haven't been to the park in a few years. Last time I was there, we watched them talking down disaster transport (yea, been a while). Nice to see some improvements have been made. Thinks where looking run down that day. Can't wait till all this is over, hurting allot of people and businesses.
Yep. Some of which are never going to recover.
My uncle renovated this park back in 1961-65. Ticket sales vent up over 400% after the renovation. See "Cleveland Plain Dealer" newspaper, front page Jan. 22, 1961, for documentation of the renovation plan. Thanks for posting!

I've never been to Cedar Point but love how you put this together for us who've never been. You camera wasn't jurking all over the place. Pinks is gone?! That’s a shame, I really loved that place. It’s so bizarre to see so few people at Cedar Point, a whole lot is closed down too. My family and I go every year yet we haven’t gone yet this year, we most likely will not but I’d like to. It sure does look like Cedar Point is doing all they can to keep people safe and comfortable. Let’s see if I can convince my family to go lol. I can’t blame them for being leery, I am a bit too. The relax zones would be a huge help to us visitors.

It looks so empty. Usually filled with people. Kinda sad. This is the first year I did not get my platinum pass. Had one for as long as they have had them. Miss this place like crazy!! Masks on outside??? So strange to see that. They still look and sound like they are having fun though. That's great!!! Ride on!!!!! Coaster lovers!!!! Hahahaha

Thanks! Truth be told, I work in radio, so I do some announcing for a living. I prefer limiting my chatter, but this video needed something different. As for the reveal, I couldn't resist doing that wearing a mask!
Too many closed rides.. and access pass needed for SV? Are they kidding? I pay full price to get in I should be able to ride it as much as I want. With all those closed rides they need to reduce the entrance price. I can't understand why 4 coasters are closed yet they keep those old flats open hardly anyone rides.
You have to have a good balance for all the family and not just coaster enthusiasts. The park looked so quiet you could have a really great time and yeah some of attractions being closed is not great but fully understandable when you trying to run a business in the current situation. The park could have just remained closed this years sucks in general but hey it will get better.

Haven't been to KI yet this year, but I'm definitely looking forward to riding Orion. That might have to wait until next year though.
I'm planning to go here next month. Are they strict enforcing wearing of masks? I have been to Universal and Disney World recently and I felt very safe. I'm not sure here though.

Yes, they're enforcing the mask policy, and I saw security personnel patrolling the midways. Even so, there were still many guests here and there not wearing their masks. I felt safe though.

Strange to see the park like this from an employee perspective. Worked here in the days the park was packed, to now. Staffing is an issue, I am also seeing lots of the flower gardens not planted. Merchandise is plentiful and varied. Lots of closed food stands and rides as of yet, plus with the reduction in hours, financially it would have been better off not opening at all this seaso.
Great video however, it would have been cool if you added your comments and viewpoints while filming too. Great and very scenic production, thank you!
Thank you, I appreciate that and your other insights. The main reason for me not commenting during filming was that I was wearing a mask and I wasn't sure what it would sound like. I ran the risk of ruining a lot of footage if I sounded too muffled.

Thank you again for a nice video I was trying to find a detailed video of the park I'm trying to determine if I want to go or not this year but seeing a lot has rides is closed still I'm probably going to skip this year and go next year or the year after stay safe
Not long after I visited, I saw that most of those closed rides were now running, though that could change tomorrow. You stay safe too!
We were there just a few days earlier on the 17th.

OMG I'm there this time of year usually AND ITS PACKED. The whole visual of ppl wearing mask and riding attractions is a really creepy ass experience. At least there's no need for an express pass which is a must for me, a good chunk of $ saved.

Acces pass only which sucks so u can ride the top 4 rides 3 times max in one day each and if u get lucky and no one is currently riding with acces pass they’ll let u in

This is what not making financial profits looks like........really seems like a depressing experience for all involved. AND WATCHING LIVE SHOWS PLAY OUT FOR ABSOLUTELY NOBODY ASIDE FROM 3 PPL LAUGHING IS JUST CRINGY AND HAS A VERY NORTH KOREA VIBE TO IT. Still my favorite park though and its commendable they are trying to push through it all too.

I went here I thought it sucked to were a face mask in the park in hot weather and it sucked to do the ticket system they did for some of the larger rides. When I went 90% of the rides were closed so I rode a total of 3 rides.

I went yesterday...an episode of the twilight zone! absolutely the worse time I have ever had there. I grew up visiting this park. What a shame to see children with masks on as well as adults. I wont be visiting again. Wasted money on the pass also long wait times as coasters run empty seats and government imposed distancing and cleaning. This will be worse now that they are going to weekend only.
