Great video, really, really helpful! Very well and clearly explained, good video showing exactly how to refill the cartridges. Thanks and keep up the good work
Thank you very much for this fantastic feedback! HP 960 is the code of the HP 950 for India region. So refilling HP 960 XL is the same as refilling HP 950 XL. The ink volume for the XL versions is bigger than the ampount of refill ink for the standard yield versions.

Hello, 950 is verry simillar to new HP 711 cartridges that are used for large printers, designjets T120 and T520.Can you tell me if the refill procedure is the same? Thanks!
According to these customers they are working with the leap frogging method. That means they have a couple of original cartridge sets available and use them rotationally.

Hello Darren, thanks for Your question. When You are working with alternative chips - we recommend to use them until the printer does not accept them for further print jobs. This way You make the most use of the costs for each chip. Your displayed ink level information may not be absolutely correct - but as long as You take care of that there is sufficient ink available inside the cartridge - You will have no problem.
Hello Carlos, thanks for Your question. From our customers we know the brass refill tip also works for HP712 cartridges - we have not tested this by ourselves to be honest.
Hello, can you please tell if the refill method works using depleted original HP cartridges with original chips (NON Setup version) and alternating them, e.g. replacing the empty cartridge with another refilled one ?
Thank You very much for Your question. We assume You refer to HP 950, 951 cartridges. Please check the following link that explains the situation of the serial numbers of depleted original HP cartridges: www.octopus-office.de/en/info/ink-refill-instructions/ink-refill-instructions-for-hp/hp-950-hp-951-cartridges-with-chip/managing-hp-950-hp-951-serial-numbers/ The method to work with refilled cartridges wthout replacing the chip is the so called leap frog method. For HP printers using 950, 951 cartridges You need to have 4 cartridges of each color available. Mark them with numbers and use them in rotation.

We only know about the HP 950 XL cartridge as the biggest cartridge. The 950 XL`s cartridge body is bigger physically as the standard yield cartridge. The 950 Xl refill ink amount is 53 ml.

I've basically been refilling these using the same port you do but by forcing the ink in. I'll have to try this way and compare, because when I refill the cartridge always bleeds through the print head forcing me to print several pages of that color and run a print head clean operation until it starts printing normally.
+Chipperowski Thank you very much for sharing Your experience with us. Forcing the ink in creates a positive pressure inside the cartridge, assuming that You do not release that pressure. This pressure pushes the ink through the print head and the result is as You describe it.
There are no openings that lead from the ink tank to the outside directly. Therefore pressing in the ink into the ink tank compresses the air in there, without releasing the air to the outside and without leading that air out of the cartridge. The air ports on the cartridge´s front and side lead into little plastic bags inside the cartridge, but they are not connected to the ink tank section.
Thanks for contributing Your experience. The nagative pressure at the end releases the pressure from inside the cartridge. Therefore no more ink is pushed through the print head by that excess pressure.

HP 46 carridges are a totally different story. They cartridges with an integrated print head. You can refill them by using the air ports in the cartridge´s upper lid. These aor ports are usually hidden beneath the original HP label.

+Sherlock Holmer ruclips.net/video/7gpjxxmjuzo/видео.html Wenn Sie den Chip nicht tauschen möchten, benötigen Sie 4 originale Patronensätze, welche Sie rotierend, nacheinander in Ihrem Drucker verwenden.
Hello Emad, thanks for Your question. The HP GT53 original ink is for the HP Smart Tank 515 printer, right? We cannot recommend using this ink for HP950 cartridges - we have not tested the HP GT53 ink but we assume the the print head characteristics are different from each other.
Hello Marlene - thanks for Your question. The chip is a topic for itsself. Either You change the chip after each refilling or You have a couple of empty original cartridges available then You can use them rotationally. The printer stores 3 serial numbers - when installing the 4th cartridge the printer "forgets" the first serial number - then You can use this first cartridge refilled inside the printer for printing BUT You will not have a displayed ink level. Please check our instruction on how to change the chip: www.octopus-office.de/info/en/ink-refill-instructions/ink-refill-instructions-for-hp/hp-950-hp-951-cartridges-with-chip/replacement-chips-for-hp-950-hp-951/
+OctopusConcept does the pressure inside the air bladder controlled by th printer or it's just a connection to atmospheric pressure cuz some Chinese refillable cartridges have those air openings in other areas not like the genuine one. Another question, how the auto clean printhead works? is it related to cartridge by a way or another or it is a separate mechanism.
The air port on the front of the cartridge facing towards trhe printer is used by the printer for checking the ink level inside the cartridge. The air ports on the sides of the cartridge help to use the full amount of ink from the cartridge. We know about the alternative cartridges from China or somewhere else - we really had bad experiences with them. They have direct opening from the outside to the ink chamber - leaking was not to avoid at all. I am not sure what You refer to by mentioning the auto clean print head.
On you website the declared amount of inch for HP 950 XL Black is 53 ml, while on your video demonstration is 86 ml. Can you please tell which is the correct amount ?
The right amount of ink for HP 950 XL is 53 ml. Thank You very much for pointing to that fact. The suggested amount in our video is based on an outdated recommendation by the manufacturer of the alternative chips. We found that overfilling may have a negative effect on the printing result. So we reduced the filling amount to 53 ml which is equal to the original ink amount.
Hello Sr. changing the ship is always needed when refilling ? In my specific case, I have 2 sets of OEM cardbridges, one just finishing now and one brand new, switching between them (so know I will be using the knew one and once that one is done refilling the old one refilled ? will that make them work without changing cheaps or its mandatory ? Thanks in advance, really good looking product and looking forward to put my hands on him. The ink is top quality ?
Hello, thanks for the question. If You want to refill the originals without changing the chip You need to have 4 sets of original cartridges. The following link gives You an explanation why: www.octopus-office.de/info/en/ink-refill-instructions/ink-refill-instructions-for-hp/hp-950-hp-951-cartridges-with-chip/managing-hp-950-hp-951-serial-numbers/
Damn... So even buying the x8 Cheaps pack, I will have enough just for 2 (4x2) refills, before having to buy new chips, right ? Once they're on, you cannot just unstick them from the cardbridge and use the initial card bridge serial? Do the ships works fine on HP 8600 ? They recognize them as original or adaptable ? Otherwise the other solution is buy another set ? It will work with adaptables ones ? Thank you for your answer, I will probably be buying your product for the tip and nice system. UP. Looking at your web site, it says the chips are usable for 1000 prints each ? Thats correct ?
You can give it a try to pry the alternative chips off after You have used them for printing and go back to the original chip. If the original is still intact it could work. The chips are reliable. For legal reasons the cartridges with such a chip on are recognized by the printer as non-original.
HI i have 2 questions -HP 7110 use pigment ink and 7500 use dey ink which one you prefer - what you will do with the chip on the cartridge when the printer recognize the you refill the cartridge
Mohammed Duqmaq Thank You very much for Your question. The HP Officejet 7110 works with HP932 and HP933 cartridges. Each cartridge is filled with prigmented ink. So for refilling You should also go for pigmented refill inks. The print head in these printer models is adjusted to this kind of ink. The HP Officejet 7500 works with HP920 cartridges. The black HP920 cartridge is also working with pigmented ink - so please go for pigmented refill ink suitable for this cartridge. The HP920 cyan, magenta and yellow are dye based inks, for the sake of Your print head You should use such inks for the colors cyan, magenta and yellow in HP920 cartridges. This has a positive impact on the life span of Your printer´s print head. There is no chip resetter available for both printers. But there are alternative chips that You can use to replace the empty old chip. Then You have a full working cartridge again after refilling.
***** Thank you very much for this value information, i have problem i what to share with you, after i show your video man times i bought hp 7110 i used the setup cartridges it was OK i now some stores i bought form him ciss system but i dont know what kind of ink in it any way i install the ciss the printer gave me that the ink is not original and start on before the test page it gave me error with the cyan color and no way to print i bought another original cartridge the same error still i watched too many videos to fix this problem no way, one last thing how we know the difference between dey ink and pigment ink, ooh some thing else i found the ciss filled in wrong way the but black in magenta and magenta in black Yalow in cyan and cyan yalow in cyan it was miss i change it the problem is the same thank you very much
Mohammed Duqmaq You say that You receive an error message. We need to know the exact error message or code that You receive from Your printer to be able to provide You some guidance to solve Your problem.
Hello! The air bag inside the cartridge is important for cleaning. This is why I have a question - is this air bag one-way or not? If you insert ink into the ink channel, does the exact volume of air leave airbag through the holes - or it stays? Because when the cartridge is refilled, and the air in the bag stays same, printer can not clean printhead by pushing air in that cavity anymore, hence one will need to manually clean the printhead from time to time. Thank you!
Majou Nexian Hello, thank You very much for sharing Your expertise with us. According to our experience and knowledge the plastic bags inside the cartridge are involved in the management system of the the ink level. In the original condition these bags are free of air. Later on, when ink has been consumed by printing the printer presses air into thesea bags. From the resistance that is necessary to get air into the bag the ink level management system can calculate how much ink is actually left inside the cartridge. Based on that we recommend to make the bags as much as possible free of air by extracting the air with a syringe out of the air port carefully.
***** Thanks a lot! But how do you get air out with this refilling method? What confuses me is that you put a tape on air openings and try to reverse-push the air inside. The bag is full at this moment, so only little ink can come in. One can only have full bag and empty ink, or full ink and empty bag. And if one lets air in ink segment, then its not very smart either - because this will still leave a bit of air inside. Which may travel in the printhead at the end. I found a much more interesting approach yesterday that I would like you to have a look. It still requires your tool (or a like), but the way is better, as airbag is completely depleted in the process: /watch?v=lHyiv1Y0UhU PS. We already "met" with air compressor of my 8600 :) as I were going to modify the printer with rest ink bottle modification - as I do with photosmart. I was really puzzled at first, but then I consider this printer to be extremely reliably built. Still, it would be cool if they would made waste ink box removable from outside (like Epson), so people don't get all the waste ink all over the printer when transporting. Well, better this than ink counter...
Majou Nexian We first extract the air out of the bags by pulling it out of the air port by using a syringe. After that we start taping the openings. Sorry, we did not make that 100% clear enough. Bag is air free. air port is closed- if You now create negative pressure inside the ink compartement, no new air can enter the bag through the air port.
***** when you remove the air from the bag, do we need worry about any air going back in after the syringe is removed ? or is it best to extract air and leave the syringe while we tape off the holes? or is there no worry at all...
We assume that this refill method works for HP 953 too, but we have not tested it as the refill inks are still under development (status Oct 7th 2016).

I need a little help. I have this 8600 plus printer and lately i refilled the 950 and 952 xl cartridges but since then, they are spilling inks profusely especially black and without using, my cartridges are almost empty without use. So i opened this side and front cover to check the ink spill box and i found lumps and lumps of black grease like ink there. What can be the reason and how can i set it right?
Hello Aumar, thank Ýou very much for the question. Did You use our tool and method to refill Your cartridges? Did You refill original HP 950 XL and 951 XL cartridges?
@@octopusoffice no dear i didnt since i dnt have it. I live in indian occupied Kashmir and dnt know how to get it. I gave my cartridges to a refilling shop who seemed to be confident of what he does though i didnt see him refilling. He confirmed that he did apply negative pressure first.
Hello Aumar, thanks for Your explanation. The information about the negative pressure is important. One reason for a leaking HP950 HP951 can be that the cartridge is pressurized - then the ink is pushed out when the cartridge is set into the printer. When the refiller did the job right the refilled cartridge should not be pressurized. Another possible cause for the leaking could be that the rubber seal in the ink port is damaged. If the refiller has used a tool that inflict some damage to this seal the cartridge can be leaking through the print head into to waste ink pad without beeing used for printing.
When You have the newly refilled cartridge place it in front of You the ink port pointing upwards. Then open the ball valve, that closes the ink port, by pressing a thin screw driver into the ink port carefully. through the open valve the postive pressure should be released and the pressure inside the cartridge should be neutral.
This method of bringing in the refill ink into the cartridge also works for HP 955 too. Make sure not to fill more than the original amount of ink. Overfilling disturbes the physics of the cartridge.
the technique is excellent but... the price here in the US which is $104 i'd rather just buy the oem brand which are $22 US dollars for all the inks. so my question is.... how many times can you refill using this refill tool?
Hello Riko, thanks for Your question. The number of possible refills using the set that is linked in the video description is limited by the amount of chips on this set. There are two new alternative chips for each cartridge included. So You can refill each cartridge two times . So the price for the OEM cartrifges would be arround 200 USD.

Thanks for Your question. Actually there is a chip on these cartridges on the outide. This chip has a serial number on it . This number identifies the cartridge towards the printer and the printer memorizes this number. As long as the printer knows this number and thinks that this cartridge is empty it refuses to print with this refilled cartridge. You have to make the printer to forget about the serial number of that cartridge. Please check the explanation to this topic on our webpage: www.octopus-office.de/info/en/ink-refill-instructions/ink-refill-instructions-for-hp/hp-950-hp-951-cartridges-with-chip/managing-hp-950-hp-951-serial-numbers/

I will never buy an HP again i updated my printers software and one of my inks ran out i replaced the cartridge with a non hp. Cartridge and my printer gave an error message and started sending the print head to the right and spitting the ink out on purpose no reset or even putting original ink cartridges fixed the problem. It almost felt like Hp sent out a virus to infect printers using non hp cartridges . Stay away from Hp i just bought an epson Eco tank printer and i love it the epson ink tanks aren't even that expensive.
Thanks for Your feedback and sharing Your HP firmware update experience. The only comfort is that You are not alone - sorry this doesn´t really improve the situation ... From time to time HP´s updates aim to exclude alternative material from beeing workable in their printers. That really sucks! We are also big fans of the EcoTank printers as the business modell is a bit better in our opinion: You pay a higher price for the printer but the inks are reasonable price and do not create that much waste...
Do these two procedures work in lieu of using two alternating cartridges: 1 - hp-officejet-pro-8600.printerdoc.net/en/work-with-ink-cartridges/usage-information-collection/. 2 - www.compandsave.com/Troubleshooting_Remanufactured_Ink_Toner_a/172.htm?ref=SAS&usource=ss&affiliate=SAS314743. These options are available on my system. Thank You.
The serial number of the cartridge is stored inside the printer´s memory. According to our experience any other method than working with alternating serial numbers does not effect the recogition of a refilled cartridge for printing.
Process worked smoothly. Used to the chips on the color cartridges and refilled black before it reached depletion. All set. Thanks for your videos and products.

It's fantastic it helped me a lot and one more thing I want to know about HP 960XL cartridge refilling please upload the video of HP 960 XL
Thank you very much for this fantastic feedback! HP 960 is the code of the HP 950 for India region. So refilling HP 960 XL is the same as refilling HP 950 XL. The ink volume for the XL versions is bigger than the ampount of refill ink for the standard yield versions.
Good job. Demo video worked OK for me. Thanks for sharing.

hi do you have to change the chip when you refill cartridge for the refill to work
Hello Darren, thanks for Your question.
And thank you for your time and answers
You are welcome..
Can I use all this equipment and ink for my HP Designjet T210 plotter and the cartridge is Designjet 712 black? Thank you.
Please check the following link that explains the situation of the serial numbers of depleted original HP cartridges:

The method to work with refilled cartridges wthout replacing the chip is the so called leap frog method. For HP printers using 950, 951 cartridges You need to have 4 cartridges of each color available. Mark them with numbers and use them in rotation.

+OctopusConcept why this create positive pressure! are the openings have one way valve or what is inside the cartridge
I've been using this method combined with forcing on HP 972. I always end my refill procedure with negative pressure. Great success. No more bleeding.
Thanks for contributing Your experience. The nagative pressure at the end releases the pressure from inside the cartridge. Therefore no more ink is pushed through the print head by that excess pressure.

+Sherlock Holmer
ruclips.net/video/7gpjxxmjuzo/видео.html
can i fill the HP950 with the genuine HP GT53?
Hello Emad, thanks for Your question. The HP GT53 original ink is for the HP Smart Tank 515 printer, right? We cannot recommend using this ink for HP950 cartridges - we have not tested the HP GT53 ink but we assume the the print head characteristics are different from each other.
Thanks, I’m sad that I’m unable to find this in my country
Sorry to hear that. From where are You contacting us?
@@octopusoffice I'm contacting from India.

The chip
Hello Marlene - thanks for Your question. The chip is a topic for itsself. Either You change the chip after each refilling or You have a couple of empty original cartridges available then You can use them rotationally. The printer stores 3 serial numbers - when installing the 4th cartridge the printer "forgets" the first serial number - then You can use this first cartridge refilled inside the printer for printing BUT You will not have a displayed ink level.
Please check our instruction on how to change the chip:
www.octopus-office.de/info/en/ink-refill-instructions/ink-refill-instructions-for-hp/hp-950-hp-951-cartridges-with-chip/replacement-chips-for-hp-950-hp-951/
do air openings open on the ink chamber or on a bladder.
The cartridge´s air ports do not lead into the ink chamber directly. They are connected to plastic bags inside the cartridge.
I am not sure what You refer to by mentioning the auto clean print head.
please look into our other reply.
In my specific case, I have 2 sets of OEM cardbridges, one just finishing now and one brand new,
switching between them (so know I will be using the knew one and once that one is done refilling the old one refilled ? will that make them work without changing cheaps or its mandatory ?
Thanks in advance, really good looking product and looking forward to put my hands on him. The ink is top quality ?
Hello, thanks for the question. If You want to refill the originals without changing the chip You need to have 4 sets of original cartridges. The following link gives You an explanation why:
www.octopus-office.de/info/en/ink-refill-instructions/ink-refill-instructions-for-hp/hp-950-hp-951-cartridges-with-chip/managing-hp-950-hp-951-serial-numbers/
What the fuck are you talking about?.. What ship?.. You make me want to throw up with your version of English..
HI
i have 2 questions
-HP 7110 use pigment ink and 7500 use dey ink which one you prefer
- what you will do with the chip on the cartridge when the printer recognize the you refill the cartridge
***** Thank you very much for this value information, i have problem i what to share with you, after i show your video man times i bought hp 7110 i used the setup cartridges it was OK i now some stores i bought form him ciss system but i dont know what kind of ink in it any way i install the ciss the printer gave me that the ink is not original and start on before the test page it gave me error with the cyan color and no way to print i bought another original cartridge the same error still i watched too many videos to fix this problem no way, one last thing how we know the difference between dey ink and pigment ink, ooh some thing else i found the ciss filled in wrong way the but black in magenta and magenta in black Yalow in cyan and cyan yalow in cyan it was miss i change it the problem is the same
thank you very much

*****
Thanks a lot! It still requires your tool (or a like), but the way is better, as airbag is completely depleted in the process: /watch?v=lHyiv1Y0UhU
PS.
*****
That explains a lot, thanks!!
***** when you remove the air from the bag, do we need worry about any air going back in after the syringe is removed ? or is it best to extract air and leave the syringe while we tape off the holes? or is there no worry at all...

I need a little help.
@@octopusoffice how doni check if the cartridges are pressurised. Can i reduce it?
When You have the newly refilled cartridge place it in front of You the ink port pointing upwards. Then open the ball valve, that closes the ink port, by pressing a thin screw driver into the ink port carefully. through the open valve the postive pressure should be released and the pressure inside the cartridge should be neutral.
Dose it work for HP 711 Cartridges
Thanks for the question. We have not tested the HP 711 but according to hear-say from our customers the methos can be applied to HP 711 too.
@@octopusoffice Thank you.
Will this works for 955xl
It works in HP 711 cartridges?
We have not tested it ourselves, but according to our customers this method also works for HP 711 inkjet cartridges.

I've heard some people say that there's a chip inside certain HP cartridges to prevent refilled one from working :/ Is that true?
Thanks for Your question. Actually there is a chip on these cartridges on the outide. This chip has a serial number on it . This number identifies the cartridge towards the printer and the printer memorizes this number. As long as the printer knows this number and thinks that this cartridge is empty it refuses to print with this refilled cartridge.
Do these two procedures work in lieu of using two alternating cartridges:
1 - hp-officejet-pro-8600.printerdoc.net/en/work-with-ink-cartridges/usage-information-collection/.
2 - www.compandsave.com/Troubleshooting_Remanufactured_Ink_Toner_a/172.htm?ref=SAS&usource=ss&affiliate=SAS314743.
These options are available on my system. Thank You.
The serial number of the cartridge is stored inside the printer´s memory. According to our experience any other method than working with alternating serial numbers does not effect the recogition of a refilled cartridge for printing.
Thank you for your response. Much appreciated.
welcome!
Process worked smoothly. Used to the chips on the color cartridges and refilled black before it reached depletion. All set. Thanks for your videos and products.
Thank You very much for taking the time and giving positive feedback!
