This is a very well produced and insightful video! I preordered the 42mm slate titanium Apple Watch upgrading from my Series 5. I’m looking forward to the little quality of life hardware upgrades, such as the larger display and faster charging.
There’s been a lot of really good updates since the series 5. For example, GPS and heart rate are more accurate. Overall, I think you’ll really enjoy this one. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Same, except I ordered the natural titanium as I have been rocking my black stainless steel series 6 until now. Enjoy the watch, looking forward to picking mine up on Friday.
Fantastic, thoughtful video. I'm excited to see some comparisons to the AWU-2. If the S10 and S9 SIPs are extremely similar, then I feel like the AWU-2 stands out for: (1) battery life, (2) action button whereas the AWS10, Titanium stands out for its sleeker look and more comfortable feel. Personally I think I prefer the look of the AWU-2.... but I think this is going to be a tough choice for me.
Wow! Thank you Lawrence! That is super kind of you to say! I really enjoy that part of making these videos. I feel like the size comparison part got a little long in here. Hi Matt, thanks for the video. I think you only missed the fast charging feature. For me this is a real deal breaker, since I prefer the display and features over a month battery-life for just having a dimmed monochrome display. So charging quickly is key. Thanks!

What is your daily watch? I have the the UW1, decided what to do with AW10, UW2, or wait until next year. I recently had heart surgery, so also deciding how important O2 sensor is. Sleep apnea feature is intriguing, because my watch won't do that. Thanks.
Because I’m trying to test as many watches as possible I really don’t have a daily watch. I’m almost always wearing two watches. But I tend to wear an AWU and a Garmin a lot. But really whatever review is coming up next. I’m sure you won’t hear this from many reviewers but if your AWU1 is holding up well, I’d wait until next year. We have no idea what they’ll announce but they might do a new watch band attachment or blood pressure or a completely different design 🤷🏻♂️. Who knows. But if you can, I’d wait and max out the value that you’ve paid for with that AWU.
Good question. I think what you'd find is that it's a significantly slimmer watch when compared to the AWU. 9.7 vs 14.4mm But if your AWU is holding up well you could wait and see what Apple does next year. 🤷♂️
You should, BESTBUY is offering me 330 for my series 9 41mm GPS. So I’m sure ultra 1 should be same or more. Go for it. Will basically be paying $150 out of pocket

I’m really worried about that slate color. 😬 I’ll do an additional review after 100 days and use a macro lens to look for scratches. Might be ugly. 🤦♂️
Compared with s8, the biggest difference between s9 and s10 is the screen and chip. I also plan to change to s10 this year, but in fact, it does not necessarily need to be replaced with s10. Because the siri response speed and faster voice input brought about by the upgrade of the s9 chip actually brings a completely different experience from s8. But i think the chip of s10 should be same as from s9. But I think it's more disappointing that the screen frame has actually become more thicker. Does this mean that the next generation or the next next generation or the next next next generation will narrow the current frame as the main selling point? ha At that time, 46mm will be upgraded to 48mm or 49mm, but the size of the watch will not change.
Approx what will be the battery difference between 42mm and 46mm , i have ordered 42mm and kinda feel regret that i should have gone for 46mm. Please console me
There shouldn’t be a super significant battery difference. I’ve ordered them both and will do some direct comparisons. I think it would be interesting to know how well the battery life lasts when using maps. I find way more convenient using them while walking and paying with the apple watch rather than with the phone. Ps. I"m still ver surprised that battery life isn't a factor on this device in Apple's mind. There's been a few times that where Apple has increased the efficacy of the Apple Watch but not thought that people would love more battery life but instead want the display to refresh more frequently or add some other small feature. It'd be interesting to see what people do if given a choice in a settings menu somewhere. 🤷♂️
@@mlegrand The average end user of an Apple Watch likely charges it next to their phone every night. While I'd like more battery life, a Garmin is designed for a significantly more rugged lifestyle than the AW. A 30 minute dive demolishes the battery on my Ultra 2, but it also eats crazy battery life out of my $2,000 Shearwater Perdix also. Usage dictates actual battery life. Always on display, constantly refreshing notifications and email, etc. eat up more battery.

I couldn't care less about how thin the device is. Overall, with the exception of the Apnea detection, irrelevant changes. Very disappointing. Hi Matt,
Do you think the Jet Black version will scratch as easily as the iPhone 7 Jet Black?
I will find out. I've got one on order and will do my 100 day review after a while. I imagine that it'll scratch a little but it sounds like Apple has done a pretty good job with the manufacturing of this particular color. 🤷♂️
I know that the „steal” version I probably a typo …but it’s kinda funny in terms of being an actual joke about the price being, well, a bit of a theft on Apple’s side 😂
Also, the editing of your video is bonkers. Like …how the heck are you able to put something of that high quality so fast ? It boggles the mind every time. Fantastic job.
Ugggg. I hate it when I make mistakes like this and can't fix it. How did I let that slip 🤦♂️
@@mlegrandno worries, Matt. The gist is still untouched by things like that 😀
coming from a first generation SE this might be the generation that I upgrade. gonna wait a bit for reviews to see how the aluminum and titanium look outside of the apple event, but really great video
I'll try to put one of those video out showing the aluminum. I'll probably also do a review after 100 days showing wear and tear. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I’ll get to work on that as soon as I have these in hand. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
@@mlegrand I look forward to watching it, and other videos from you. Keep up the good work!
The music/editing on this video is so good
Wow! Thank you Lawrence! That is super kind of you to say! I really enjoy that part of making these videos. I feel like the size comparison part got a little long in here. But I have 3 Apple Watches coming to my front door any minute so I'm excited to get to work on a more in-depth review and comparison. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. Another awesome video. Great work Matt.

I have the Apple Watch Ultra, and I’m looking at my options. Since there is no Ultra 3, the 10 might be intriguing. I’m curious how this compares to the Ultra 2
Dont bother bro, performance wise i think Ultra 2 still wins. Wait another year for Ultra 3
@@rizalhonyaif you are an athlete you need the action button. Not sure why they didn’t add the action button to the series 10. The difference betttwen the two should be battery, titanium and sport related stuff like better gps, scuba diving, etc.
Why the hell do you want to upgrade anyway
It's odd that the Ultra 2 Black doesn't have a HR sensor update. It seems like Apple would want to fix that spO2 issue as soon as possible. Maybe I'll make a video talking about it. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Solid video Matt.
Enjoy testing this once you get one
Water temp for swim is good.
Will do! Thank you!
Hi Matt, thanks for the video.
I think you only missed the fast charging feature. For me this is a real deal breaker, since I prefer the display and features over a month battery-life for just having a dimmed monochrome display.
So charging quickly is key. Thanks!
Good point! The fast charging is really interesting. I'll do some testing for an upcoming video on these new watches here in the next few weeks. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I have an Apple Watch SE 44mm looks like screen size is very comparable to the new 42mm
I bet you're right. The SE watches are a great value! Do you think you'll upgrade any time soon? Or are you pretty happy with it? Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
@@mlegrand it’s the first generation se it won’t be getting the new update so I think it might be time for an upgrade
@@mlegrand thanks!
@@mlegrand I may keep UW1 and pick up a GPS Series 10. Would have options then. We'll see!
have the ultra 1 but obsessing over the s 10 even dough has less battery. Should I trade my ultra 1 for the series 10?
Good question. I think what you'd find is that it's a significantly slimmer watch when compared to the AWU. 9.7 vs 14.4mm But if your AWU is holding up well you could wait and see what Apple does next year. 🤷♂️
You should, BESTBUY is offering me 330 for my series 9 41mm GPS. So I’m sure ultra 1 should be same or more. Go for it. Will basically be paying $150 out of pocket
I’m trading in my Apple Watch 6 for the 10. Did I do the right thing?
I think that's a great upgrade. You were able to get massive value out of the AWS6 and I'll be very curious to hear what you think about this new one. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Same. Waited for another true black Apple Watch to replace my 6.
Rember the old 38/41 mm bands won't work on the new 42mm. All watches take 45mm bands now
Very good point God Of War.
This is incorrect. I confirmed this with Apple support and there’s a compatibility graph on Reddit.

Dude, you are so quick with b-roll footage that appear to be fresh graphics you made yourself. Do you have a team that does this? Great visualizations and editing.
I don't have a team unfortunately. I made all of these graphics myself. I really enjoy that aspect of making these videos. I felt like some of the visualizations hung on a little too long. But I'll get better at making these videos. Thank you Victor for all of the kind words and for taking the time to watch this video. I really do appreciate it.
Im wondering how the gold and slate color on the s10 watch gonna scratch, if it's strong enough to not scratch that easily? I feel like if they scratch it wont look as good, ima atleest wait for a scratch test video on those titanium watches before i buy one, really like thst gold color on it
I’m really worried about that slate color.
Does this mean that the next generation or the next next generation or the next next next generation will narrow the current frame as the main selling point? ha
At that time, 46mm will be upgraded to 48mm or 49mm, but the size of the watch will not change.
Ha! 😂 - That wouldn't surprise me. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Approx what will be the battery difference between 42mm and 46mm , i have ordered 42mm and kinda feel regret that i should have gone for 46mm. Please console me
There shouldn’t be a super significant battery difference. I’ve ordered them both and will do some direct comparisons. I’ll also show them on my tiny wrists and my wife’s wrists for some real world comparisons. It’ll just take me a week or so to make the video. it quite literally does not matter unless youre coming from a 40mm and thinking about getting a 45 or 46. 1mm does not make any tangible difference.

How important is the intro, those first 33 seconds of a video, well... Yes, you just showed us all. Thanks for the review, and yes, the size of any watch's screen is important. @@mlegrand Have a nice day 👌🏻
Battery time matters.
People need to charge this unit every day! So in the 3 weeks my garmin lasts, they need to charge this one more then 20 times!
I keen to view some serious durability test between Apple Watch 10 titanium and Apple Watch Ultra 2 (black). I wonder which titanium material is better against occasional scratches between the two.
I typically do these 100 day reviews so I'll probably be wearing an AWS10 and AWU2 Black on each wrists for the next big block to see how durability is between these two watches. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

No blood oxygen sensor on the new watches. Definitely feeling less incentivized to upgrade as it means I’ll lose a core health feature.

I believe Apple Watch Series 10 still has the sensor but will still be deactivated in the U.S. with a different model number for models sold in United States, just like the Series 9.
@@iansoya9461 - Yes, that is now my understanding as well. I'll talk more about this is an upcoming video. Thank you for posting this!
As a health care provider, I can confirm that the watch Sp02 monitor is not as accurate as a true pulse oximeter. Use the watch as a guide, but don’t get too focused on the watch reading
@@claudiamartin9700100% right. Same goes for sleep apnea. People also asking for blood glucose monitoring really can’t put much faith into the watch. Like you said, these are all meant to be used as guides, almost worthy of a “for entertainment use only” asterisk.

I bought the 46 mm and returned it. It’s too big and too heavy. My new 42 mm is amazing. I don’t even realize it’s on my wrist. A watch is meant to be glanced at, not watching videos or surfing the web. Less is more.
Yeah, I think it's a preference thing, right? Some people like big faces, some like smaller ones. I've really gotten used to large watches so the 46 actually feels small. 🤷♂️ Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
@ feeling small is not the same as being unnoticeable. You’re just doing mental gymnastics in your head aka cognitive dissonance. The 42 is the better buy for almost everyone unless you’re Shaq.
I came upon your really informative conversation by googling-“what size, 42 mm or 46 mm should women wear.” All I see are pictures of men working out. Dont women wear Iwatches? I have small wrists. Will the 46mm be too big? I wish tech bro information would include women. I guess by definition, it doesnt..LOL!😅
Hi Paula, I wish there were more women making smart watch content here on RUclips. I don't see a ton currently. I couldn't care less about how thin the device is. Overall, with the exception of the Apnea detection, irrelevant changes. Very disappointing. The same lame and unreasonably 18 hours of battery life or even the 36 hours of the Ultra 2 can't compete with Gamin AMOLED watches (Forerunner 965, Epix 1, 2, Fenix E, Fenix 8) and especially with the MIP watches (forerunner 955, Fenix 7, Fenix 7 pro, Enduro 2, 3, Fenix 8 Solar); again Apple Watch lacks relevant physiological parameters for athletes, lacks topological maps, useful navigation, even the flashlight... but the same battery is a shame. Apple want us to keep petting the AW as a Tamagotchi... but its 2024 !!!
