Nice work on the upgrade but $25 for the instructions is absolutely insane
Have you seen how much their millennium falcon instructions are? The digital pdfs for their models are cool, but they are not worth that much
They usually are on sale you can probably find 25% off on may the 4th for cyber Monday plus there's tons of discount code can use (can't stack tho)
What's absolutely insane to me is people complaining about spending $25 on anything. Seriously man that's little pocket change for people who actually have jobs. If you're struggling and can't afford a hobby then perhaps you're doing this thing called 'adult life' wrong.
@@ShadowWallaceytIt’s called a value proposition, you don’t spend money for the sake of it. $25 for just instructions is way too overpriced, especially when you have to buy the set itself and all the extra pieces. That’s how you encourage piracy
@@Larry-Lobster I agree. I think a reasonable price is about 10 cents per piece in the moc, and maybe half that for a mod. I'm definitely willing to go up to twice that for particularly elegant mocs, but 25 for a mod is pretty wild.

I would love to see more modified builds of official sets. Allows a really cool entry point to custom builds, without the cost of having pay the per brick cost!

It is intended as both, but admittedly much more cost-effective as just a MOC. Realistically most of my models are just play-scale MOCs using the original set as a very loose guide! But also, I am aware that lots of people buy sets just for figures (sometimes in large quantities), so if people have multiple spare models lying around, it is a good option to pay some extra to make that spare set a more accurate display piece!

@@Sbebbe people often buy sets like these, resell the minifigures then sell off the builds quite cheap. I definitely wouldn’t recommend buying the set brand new to upgrade, but if you can find it used for $40-50 then the whole model will cost you around $100-120 total. Or, just make the model from scratch for a bit more money. I appreciate that it is roughly 50% new parts, but the purpose of these models is to show how easily LEGO could make display models in this scale, using their own building techniques! (Also, I do not set the prices for the instructions myself)

I feel like the modded set should be 2 studs wider on the body. It's too thin imo. Some brilliant elements to it though.

Been thinking about getting this set and color swapping it to be like a refurbished/retrofitted "Imperial" gunship, such as in the Bad Batch. Thinking I'm gonna go with your guys' part list and instructions but swap to some light and dark grey! Really like how the redesign you are showing comes out to be a lot slimmer and looks great for some MOCs!

Calling this a "mod" of set 75354 is just insulting. This is a moc of the same proportions as the lego set. 50% of the parts really?
for a channel that has 675k subs and averages 10k-20k views is $25 for a PDF not quite selfish? I love this channel and the mocs but this is just money milking
Just an fyi, that 10-20k views translates to about $15-$30 in ad revenue, at least at my CPM

This is definitely a very nice MOC (because this is very much a MOC, not a mod, and to call it a mod is quite frankly ridiculous) but I have to admit that the two white stripes on the door look absolutely terrible compared to the official ones. Everything else looks great, but those white door stripes just do not work at all on this MOC.
Yeah that’s what the Gunship should halve been, and not downsized!
The regular set is more to scale with minifigs imo, the others were way to large

How is literally every mod build from this channel Light Years better than the official Lego version? Is it gross incompetence or is Lego not hiring the right people to make their builds?
Completely different objectives with the build compared with Lego. Lego designs sets for playability and strength as a priority most of the time whereas MOCs like these go for a more accurate design.
@@ThethirstyhumbugMost of the custom builds on this channel managed to do the same damn thing. They even show off the playability and strength of the end result as well. The guy in this video literally shook the thing one handed proving the strength and durability of the model.
The current builders /designers at Lego are lazy and incompetent and need to be replaced, buy all the more talented people that make better versions of these sets.
@@ShadowWallaceyt few things, Lego has more restriction and rigorous testing. Part count, build length, build difficulty, sturdiness, cost saving. Ands it's a toy, not replica. BV is more like replicas, and only small percent of the builds are sturdy enough for official Lego set, and have too complex techniques.
Also, BV have different designers for different sets, that is why they have so many.
