- ** We are back at it again, there's a slight possibility Ashtyn or Travis 🤣 swathed their 10mm wrench, so Mike needs to run to town and buy another one... but apparently it must be swathing season or something because everyone is sold out! Haha just another day with Mike & Ashtyn 🤷🏻♂️😂🙂

Farming -
Never the right time.
Never enough time.
Never the right weather.
😁
That Ashtyn is one in a Trillion.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
A swather is basically just a big rear discharge zero-turn mower.
yes
Yes
big zero turn mower that cost a lot more...
That was an opportunity to let Ashtyn shine by letting her give a run through the swathers cabin
Ashtyn is all business in the cab. No time for babble
Great to see someone showing honest farming and how there is ups and downs drought one year a flood the next.
Pretty neat seeing agriculture practices in different parts of the states/world. Thanks for your videos, very educational.
Provinces!
@@henkjanssen186 I'm talking in bigger scope not just across Canada... meaning comparing like our Corn silage season vs them swathing Canola...
That girl is all business. Good for her. Ashton rocks!
Love nevera canola , always have great yield ,
I always thought and told my wife how beautiful she was when she was pregnant and working on our farm y’all remind me of those days keep it going farm and number of kids
Mike, you need to buy a metal detector and go searching for lost wrenches in your fields. This seems to have better yeild than harvesting this year. The prices are up on 10 mm wrenches this year I heard, but maybe you should store some in your bins and see if the prives will go up even higher. 😁😂🤣 I wonder how many wrecnhes per acre you can find? 🤣
Look at Ashtyn go, straightens up her rows without thinking!
Thank you for explains everything, I really appreciate it. Great video
On our farm we don't have wrenches that go missing or get lost ..we plant them and someday we'll harvest a large crop of all kinds of wrenches..
Hey Mike, can you tell us a little bit what your plan “up North” is? Is it expanding your family farm or is it more like setting up your own?
HEY MIKE THIS GUY HAS A GOOD QUESTION!
Ya agreed
Hey Mike. Ya good question,,, can you answer this one for us???
Hes already explained it many times. He has land far away from the home farm for a bit of risk mitigation. If something disastrous happens at one farm, the other is more than likely to not be affected like the other. It's like not keeping all your eggs in one basket.
They will be growing the north operation and will one day be there full-time. My opinion
Congratulations on your up an coming new farm hand ,
yup its a Honey Bee 2000 Series. glad to see it being put thru the paces
Congratts mike n asten. May god bless you.
It's crazy that engine is heavy enough to be used an counter balance for that huge header. It looks light but that header has some weight to it that's for damn sure. Killer vid man. Make that money man. Hell yeah.
there is some weights on the back too
Ashtyn is an awesome wife!!! It's so cool to see you two working the farms together Mike!
Great video Mike, Congratulations on your baby coming!
Great job swathing Ashtyn
Nothing runs like a Deere.
Nothing kills a Deere like a Magnum.
And all of my experience is nothing blows up in your face like a magnum
Great!!
Hey Mike
Just wanted to comment on your Canola not sprouting comment not to be a know it all but just to share an experience! Up until 2019 I didn't think canola could or would sprout either but that year we had so much dang rain on and before harvest and the swaths stayed out/down for weeks the canola started sprouting. It was a mess, what a year!
Anyways take care and stay safe, an hopefully you get into some better yields.
Great video Mike and Ashtyn
Gooood Morning Mike !
Farmers daughters are awesome!
Poor canola, I've swathed canola, 4-5 feet tall, drought for sure!
Good video as usual thanks
The wheater seems like exactly the same as we had during this harvest in germany. Today we finaly finished harvest 2021… one month later as last year…
canola does re-sprout in the head...happened to a farmer I know just last year...eventually had to spray it tho
You have to watch this with the CC on their interpretation of what Mike says is hilarious.
well Ashtyn looks well which a great blessing. Sad thing is that it takes just as long to cut poor or good crops! At least you are building water for next year. Fields need about 3 inches of muck over em!! Great video
Our auto parts store down here stock up on those size wrenches.
im just taking my canola, 40 acres done, 2500 bu in the bin, nexara clearfield grower here too, in manitoba
Shad potter @6.22. Love it.
I was waiting for that comment 🤣👌👌
That electric grease gun is a life saver isn't it lol I love mine. Makes greasing so much easier night an day difference. Having a electric grease gun the guys are willing to grease the fittings lol I know that's a first right lol.
Hi Mike, I've swathed thousands of areas of canola here in Manitoba, we "always" roll the swath to keep it from blowing away...obviously wind isn't an issue there?
I was going to comment on the roller as well, as I am a fellow MB. Looks odd not to have a roller, and may have saves a few of his swaths... 🤷♂️
Macdon makes the best swathers 🙃
They are good machines if you are in a place where they are supported
Pretty much yup
Pretty hard to screw up making a swather…. The header is what matters…
Yo yo guyzzz, hey mike we was on way back from the Rockies today, pretty sure we seen the fendt with tripples at that dealership off Transcanada. She was at the road. Nts but sure looked like your 1050🔥👊🔥🏍🏍🏍
My son just turned one so my wife was just in that situation. She is doing awesome.
Nick bought 27 10mm wrenches last week so he knew they were sold out at Napa! 😂😂😂
While it’s not practical. It would be nice if you could drop the center out of your 50ft honeybee and swath with the combine. Granted there would be more to it than that but would be neat in a pinch.
Mike , blame the " ALIENS " !!!!!
Good ole wynyard I spent a week there shingling that giant 4 storey at 16:56, noooo I wasn’t apart of that cluster fuck while it was being built for any wynyard viewers
Nice Guy Nick
I'm with you Mike I'd rather be in a combine than a swather any day thought about 200 hours on a swather loss count on a combine
With as much work as you have to do between now and November when are you going to have time to get ready for the little one? Have you got some names picked out?
Best thing to watch when you have covid and cant do enything
Good luck!
Best thing to do if you catch it is stay home and away from people for a few days, like you should do if you're any kind of sick. Apparently that's not a thing anymore. Also, not broadcast it out to everyone.
There's that combine mixed with the mower used for bailing hay
Looks identical to my new holland swather!! Lol
Congrats on the baby in November
Although nothing runs like a deere, nothing kills a deere like a magnum.
So ,, maybe I shouldn't ask ,, but with all the bad fields ,, no rain ,, no crops back home ,, will the farm make money this years ?
Morning from Mississippi
Mike, when is the baby due? My wife said is going be a boy.
Great video today.
Sorry you just answered my due question November
The farm that had the poor canola was that the farm you burned the residue off in the spring?
Bi-Pola Canola ... good one !
that cut bar is huge for the machine you are going to use, I know very little about farming, but if I was playing FS19 I wouldn't be able to work with that cut bar, I think
So Mike what do you use to gather the canola after the cutting
Have you ever met Kevin Hruska another large farmer who farms 40+k acres east of Ashton's families farm.
Funny looking sprayer Mike? @2.45
The ever elusive 10mm!
Morning mike
What is that rotating sweeper at the swather rear?
How often do you guys have fog. Down here we almost never have it, but when we do its pretty thick.
Case makes a very good swather as long as you put on a honey bee header, not a macdon header.
What’s wrong with macdon ?
I assume it's New Holland painted red.
why do you don't plant any Wintercrops like Winterwheat?
hey mike how is the baby doing and you guys with the fact that you are going to by parants
My son and daughter in-law live in Wynyard😁
Hey Ashtyn, why not try a Fendt swather? LOL
I'm wondering how you could have let the dirty rearview mirror stand. Surely you would have wanted to clean it !
Riding in the truck again
Well Mike you have to stop by a four way stop sign even there's no traffic coming.😉
signs are just suggestions!
Local magistrates need income too. Might as well take it out ofthe visiting peoples pockets in the form of rollling stop tickets
instead of the taxpayer.
Is the header floating compared to the drive unit ? The wheels set the cut height and follow the contour of the land ?
Do you normally roll the swath down into the stubble to keep from blowing? Seen alot of other Canadian's running hour glass shaped roller behind the windrower. Just curious!
Wind is not a big issue in that area so not a big need to roll swaths after cutting
@@darrylpaulhus3069 thanks for clarification
I never use the roller either...it takes longer for the swath to dry and it can also blow away worse I'd a real big wind comes by
10mm wrench disappears...just another day.
GOOD MORNING
Put a smile on my face when I whack this lol mike I keep a flalt wrench pack kit in my lunch kit
Mac don doesn’t leave as many pods it’s so much nicer to run
Wouldn't be complete without the obligatory Mike accidental zoom-in and apology.
You will have to order a case of them from the co op guy since he took such good care of you.
Mike I have questions .... Why weren't you rubbing Ashton's feet while she ran the swather? She a keeper that's for sure ...
Mike. You're very lucky...
Morning
Just out of curiosity, is that Avena fatua on the roadside?
I don’t know why,but that looks hella fun. I guarantee Mike, that with all the offers you get from viewers to come work for you,you could probably get a ton of your labor done for free. I’m serious! You should set up some kind of an intern program!
You don't put interns on expensive equipment. Too easy to screw things up.
Hi mike. May a have a question? Is it possible to modify the header to one side swathing? Then you will be able to get double swath. 80ft wide would be good for the big Fendts.
You use a pickup header after swathing.
@@mikeznel6048 Yes that is correct. Double swaths would be better for the pickup header and productivity of the combine. That is the idea behind!
@@a.s.7164 Canola looks like it would be easy to pick up,so they can just go faster if they have the capacity.
@@lynwessel2471 You are right, they can go faster but the yield is good enough this year to get full capacity.
@@a.s.7164 3 mph on a double swath or 6mph on a single is the same amount of hours to combine a field.Ashtyns family has farmed long enough in that area to know what works best for them
How come you haven’t taken the tractor mounted swathers up there?
17:44...ASK!
Lets hope the baby comes on the 27 of November
My birthday 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😁😁😁😁😁😁🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣because that would be cool
How many acres in that field.
November, eh? Maybe the kid will come out on my bday. :D 19th. :)
So is this to save time? Or why do they do it?
you should try macdon
There's always windrowing.
When you run JD equipment it the damn 15mm wrench you are always looking for. And a lot of wrench sets don't even have a 15 mm wrench
So ..... nobody on the stuck list IN A DROUGHT YEAR. If you did manage to break the duck, the first one will have to be the looser. Any others would not count. The back wheels on that swather don't seem to do much in mud, keep the backside off the ground I suppose.
What's a good canola crop over there here in Australia good canola 130 bushels
