    I love when you upload!!!! You are seriously one of my fav content creators. I love to see L’Interdit Intense! It’s soooo addictive to me. Bubblegum tahini! I love that description! I’m going to pop into my ITF class but I’ll be back to finish on my ride home. ❤

    Hey, Wendi! I absolutely know what you mean when you say some perfumes are too good to wear. I am actually like this about a lot of things in life. It’s not that I don’t deserve beautiful things (we all do!) but sometimes I feel this world is too ugly for such beauty.
    Amouage Beloved is a favorite, but I feel like I need a grand occasion to wear it. This is also my mom’s favorite but she wears it frequently, which I think is great. Serge Lutens Sa Majeste la Rose is another one that deserves special treatment, because I am obsessed with the smell of roses. I wore it to church once on Good Friday and that seemed perfect.
    I hope you receive many blessings in the New Year! You deserve it.

      OOhhhh Beloved another amazing one! Your mom has great taste. My MIL used to wear Samsara before it was too reformulated and I loved smelling it at her house even though I wear it all the time:) You must wear you Sa Majeste La Rose it's discontinued for one and it's one of the densest rose perfumes ever -- just lovely.
      That is an interesting thought, that the world is ugly, so it would feel strange to wear beautiful pieces of art ... maybe we should lean into our scent bubbles to protect us.
      Thanks always for the note DD I always appreciate it. Best wishes to you as well.

    How interesting, just today I finally opened up a tiny 5ml bottle of real mysore sandalwood oil my mom brought me back from her last trip to India. It’s a government protected botanical species because of the over harvesting etc., as you already know.
    It’s been sitting around for a year and I’ve been missing out on the gorgeousness of the OG sandalwood of my childhood in Kolkata, India. It’s sweet, creamy, fluffyish, rounded, gentle and delicately warm. Nothing like the Australian stuff, which is beautiful too, but more potent, dryer and sharp.
    My grandmother used to use sandalwood for her daily prayer rituals, so the smell of this oil just brought tears to my eyes. Like a big hug from her❤.
    I thought you’d appreciate my story because of your love of the OG Samsara and sandalwood in general. Modern day sandalwood perfumes mostly smell like pencil shavings and antique wood furniture to me 😂. Now I need to hunt for perfumes that smell closer to this official Mysore Sandalwood oil from India. Ugh!
    Happy new year, Wendi 🎉!

      @wendisparadeofperfumes5034  5 дней назад +1

      Hi Mamoni. I am so glad you shared this story, I can imagine how fully wonderful that oil smells. I had 2 elephants carved of Mysore, they were gifted to me in the 80s after my father came back from a trip to India. I held onto them for years but unfortunately lost them in a housefire awhile back. I'll never forget how soft the wood was, and the scent of the elephant figures is ingrained in my head. What a great gift, and I'm sure that just a few drops here and there will last you a long time. Nothing compares to that divine sandalwood, just nothing.
      My grandmother I don't think used sandalwood, she used this kind of incense I've never seen before that would burn in wax for her prayers.
      There are a few modern/Aussie sandalwoods I like but mostly I've given up because as you said they mostly smell of sharp pencil shavings and pickles. I've still not smelled any better sandalwood than old Samsara, that's still my gold standard. There is a perfumer called Teone Reinthal that supposedly uses Mysore sandalwood that she gets from India for her perfumes ... I might have to hunt one of them down.
      Thanks for the note.

    On paper it seems absurd not to wear our favorites, but not when you consider how so mamy have been discontinued or reformulated into oblivion. So we hoard them and guard them like treasure!

    • @wendisparadeofperfumes5034
      @wendisparadeofperfumes5034  5 дней назад +2

      Hi Krista:) That is really the crux of it, that once these lovelies are gone they are just gone forever and not replaceable, even if they are in production due to reforms. The perfume experience really is a treasure only we understand the gravity of the situation lol. I slightly panic at the thought of not being able to wear some of these again if I run out. The irony is I'm unlikely to run out of much of anything ... but ... still.

    I love to hear I’m not the only one saving my “special” perfumes for special occasions 🫣 Problem is, I don’t particularly have many occasions that fall into that category 😂!
    And you are not lying about Crystal Noir! I really love it, as I use it for layering combos a lot..but man I need a break for a few months afterwards. She’s a BEAST.
    I tend to baby my Van Cleef & Arpels bottles and grab things lower in the financial stratosphere to wear at home, ha!
    Hey but you’ve inspired me to dust those babies off for the new year. Happy New year to you & yours!

    Would love to hear your thoughts on Sublime and any other Patous you have. Sublime is probably my favourite but I also really love L‘Heure Attendue. I think their Heritage Collection was really well done. Such a shame it’s all gone.

      Hi Caro:) I feel like I need to almost make myself wear 31 RC just to get over myself. It's just languishing there! But one of the most beautiful perfumes ever.
      I'll organize my thoughts on the JP's, I have a few of the Heritage Collection too and they really were thoughtfully done and it's a DAMN SHAME that they are no longer a perfume company at all! Plus they were so affordable. Make room for BOUGIE MARSHMELLOW instead lol.

    Oh my gosh you have Gucci Parfum. Had a bottle years ago and used it up. I couldn’t find it again. I LOVE that Parfum Esquiste! Used up a bottle about 4 years ago and have been meaning to repurchase: it’s beautiful!!!! I’ve had three completely different experiences with 31 Rue Cambon. Tried it in September in store and was in love: almost bought the 200 ml bottle. My cautious side said “get a decant and wear more”. Then I got the decant and thought…..it’s too formal for me. Tried it again a month later and it wore like a dream. 😂 Sycamore is a masterpiece.

      I'm so glad you know the Gucci Perfume! It is such a completely unique fragrance, I've got nothing that even approaches that composition.
      31 RC really is just a dream. Nothing approaches that perfume either. I would be more comfortable I think with wearing my bottle of Sycomore but I've heard really not good things about the EDP reform .. but it really is a true masterpiece and I should start wearing it and not let it languish on my shelf. I really hope you get the 31 RC not to enable you:P

    Hi Wendi, Happy New Year! I am with you on 31 Rue Cambon. It was the first
    Chanel I ever bought years and years ago when it launched so I also have the EDT version. Omg, I love it so much. I remember it was being called the first Modern Chypre, lol. I wasn't so sure I agreed at the time. I have the 2.5 oz size and it's only got 1/4 of juice left in the bottle but the new prices are so ridiculous. It's $325.00 now for the 2.5oz and prices are apparently going higher in Jan! I have heard the EDP is very long lasting and very good still but unless I can find a decent price on Mercari or something, forget it. oxJulia

    • @wendisparadeofperfumes5034
      @wendisparadeofperfumes5034  5 дней назад

      Hey Julia! Gosh that perfume is stunning I'm glad you know what I mean when I talk about 31 RC. Yeah what was up with that trying to say it was a "modern chypre" just because it has a lot of bergamot on top and patchouli on the bottom? I love chypres but it never FELT like a chypre when I wore it. And I've tried the EDP, it's slightly more leathery and even a bit stronger but it is a stunner as well ... but these prices are asinine. I don't feel that over $300 for the 75 ml is fair, I just don't, and I can't spend over $500 for the tumblers ... like I want to test Comete but why bother? Will I like it more than Samsara, which is the only way I'd pay that amount? Probably not.

    • @StelmaDesigns
      @StelmaDesigns 5 дней назад

      @@wendisparadeofperfumes5034 I agree. They just don't make chypre style perfumes like they were able to back when there were not all these ridiculous restrictions in ingredients. Those of us who grew up wearing them know the difference and while some niche brands still do make them, and some smell great, I think that era in perfumery is past so I treasure my vintages as you do. I did smell Comete at the Chanel beauty shop at the mall and it's very nice, but it hasn't kept me awake at night wanting a bottle, haha! Edit; NO, you won't like it more than Samsara I would guess :o)
