I have a real soft spot for Annick Goutal. My favourite by far is Heure Exquise and I prefer it to No. 19. Also I think they do summer freshies really well. I‘m curious about L’Ile au Thé now. Thanks for sharing your beautiful collection!

Hi Wendi. I enjoyed your video as usual. Its so relaxing hearing and see perfumes that were created with artistic intent and not just to shove on shelves every 2 weeks. Refreshing. Oh I have never seen Annick Goutal or smelled it, your line up all sounded lovely.

I have GOT to try Mandragore! Both versions. I’m such a sucker for the herbaceous and spicy profile. Plus I won’t lie the name is cool. Reminds me of the mythical mandrake creature you can see in Harry Potter.
I get the impression Annick Goutal excels when it comes to greens and florals. But especially greens. I’m not a huge white floral person but I do want to try Songes.

I’ve tried a sample of La Violette last month (the current version I think?..), and I totally understand why you bought it immediately at that price. I can relate😅. It is a little melancholic, a little green (à la Vent Vert v.), and just lovely. It is on my [future] list of purchase, as well.

I really like it. Like you said it's fully green, green violet, but the rose and the raspberry really round it out appropriately. And so moody like AG should be!

Your collection is amazing! Love Annick Goutal and have been wearing their perfumes since 2005 when I first discovered them in Paris, accidentally. The store is small but like a Parisian girl fantasy. I bought a butterfly bottle of Mandragore, Ce Soir ou Jamais, Rose, Eau de Charolette, and later I bought Matin D’orage, Chevrefeuille, Songes EDT, and two of the Night birds Pom Pom bottles. It’s my favourite house. Before I got their perfumes, I hadn’t worn perfume and had no interest in them at all. lol. AG perfumes are so earthy and real whilst still perfumy and not in the hippie health food store way. Lovely, elegant and just super charming. Let us know what you think of La Violette. I smelled back in 2009 and thought it was beautiful.

I adore those butterfly bottles they used to make! So in line with their scent profiles. I used to have a bottle of Charlotte and while the lily can be overwhelming I really miss it as there is something so compelling about that one! And Ce Soir ou Jamais is so lovely pure rose pear and ambrette. I like Matin d'Orage it's such an oddball scent.
So far I really like the Violette. The raspberry is a perfect touch and it's the whole thing is so nice and earthy. It was worth the break.
Annick Goutal was the first niche house I ever got into. Lots of memories there!
Thank you for sharing what you love I always like hearing about it!

I once read in an older interview of Marc-Antoine Corticchiato that Annick's Eau de Sud inspired him. I can TOTALLY see this. In both Iskander and Eau de Gloire. Having never smelled vintage Sables, I'm super curious if it's much like Immortelle Corse. I'm so glad you've pointed me to this house!

    • @wendisparadeofperfumes5034

I'd believe it Eau du Sud has been around for a long time and it's very of its own...now thinking of it Parfums d'Empire has a lot of overlap with Annick Goutal. Creative and natural seeming at the same time. I've always wanted to test Sables but I"ve not gotten to that one yet, truthfully sometimes immortelle is too much for me to wear.

Thank you for sharing your collection. I only own one Annick Goutal that I love so much and bought I believe in the early 1990s. It's Songes and I have both an almost empty 3.5oz of the EDT as well as a 1.7oz EDP. I love both but wear the edt the most as evidenced by the fact it's 3/4 empty. I have a very large collection and I wear this only in spring summer mostly so that's saying something. I recently and immediately bought a bottle of Un Bel Amour D’été by Parfum d'Empire, based on a 2ml sample; love at first sniff. I didn't even connect it at the time but realized it is super similar to Songes. Not quite as good but damn close in many ways. I am wondering what the current edition of Songes is like as mine are both Annick Goutal and vintage.

That is so funny I am lusting after Amour D'ete as well ... spicy white floral with tropical notes and sandalwood? Sign me up. Next year I am going to get a bottle for sure and Parfums d'Empire is another house I LOVE. I'm glad to hear that you love it, you are just enabling me lol.

@@wendisparadeofperfumes5034 Wendi, what I think I also love about both Songes and Un Bel Amour D’été is the perfectly measured cumin note. I wore then on opposite arms last night after watching your video and Songes is still my favorite perfume of the two in my opinion but Un Bel Amour D’été is really similar and lovely as well. I feel I can spray wildly as I normally do with perfumes with this one and save what little I have left of Songes edt. I see a few available online but not sure I really need a back up...or do I?? Hahaha! By the way, I think it's pronounced more like sponge but with a soft G? I could be wrong but that's how I always pronounce it :o) oxJulia

Good timing Wendy. I searched for reviews on this house last month but they weren't much.
And yours just turned up on my feed today 😂.
I do have 2 Annick Goutal on my wish list.
    Ambre Fetiche and Vanille Charnelle.
I tried Ambre Fetiche last week, and it's too syrupy and dense for my liking😢. I was about to remove it from my list, but that's until you said 'appropriate for winter'. Seriously as a frag head why didn't I think of trying it again then.
    Do you have Vanille Charnelle?
If so, can you tell me about it?
I have Vanille Exquise and Nuit et Confidences. I like them both. They both have a place in my collection.
I love your view of artistry in perfumes. Majority of influencers on RUclips just started niche perfumery and think it's a leveling up lifestyle which I find juvenile. As they become designer snobs 🙄. Can't stand it. A lot of niche fragrances promoted are not made of the finest ingredients nor have any form of artistry 😢.

Shut the front door! Eau du sud isnt universally loved? I’m gobsmacked….no way Eau de Camille has hay in it. (I mean it might-I’m horrible at detecting notes) but I love that one too much for it to have hay. we may not be mortal enemies but it;s definitely not an uncle I look forward to seeing at thanksgiving….And finally I dont see your purchases as failures at all. Certainly on your way to being a mire mindful consumer. A mindful lover-hah.
