For those wondering: This guy's name is Don. My grandfather and uncle help him out. To update his situation: He has shelter and is taken care of with food and simple necessities. I am working on getting him a guitar to play. He has COPD really bad from years of smoking, so being able to work like he used to is really hard. Thankful that my family has helped him over the years and I hope to see him again soon. When I do, I'll let him know how many people have shared their love. Dropped about 30 years off his appearance. Actually turned out to be a pretty nice looking guy once you could see him. You did something very meaningful and what you are continuing to do by showing him how to help himself is huge. Hopefully he can find work that isn't too labor intensive for his COPD, something that makes him feel like he is making a positive impact somewhere. I think we all want that, to be a positive in this world.

Yes, so true ... 💔 to observe people who reach a point where they avoid looking at themselves in the mirror. They become as invisible to themselves as they are to others. Loved watching the twinkle return to his eyes.

I see that too. He looked anxious in the beginning. He seemed to relax as time went on. Listen, I feel transformed when I leave the barbershop. I cannot imagine what he was feeling inside when he left. Love this.

@@juliabrown5396 I was homeless for several years after I turned 18 and after that I lived very poor. I owned no TV until 25 but I constantly worked so mostly listened to the radio or music. I do still feel like I watched a lot in the few years I had one I often have people disbelief that I could not have seen a movie or heard of a TV show.
When I was younger I didn’t watch TV that much. I could sit and watch crime dramas with my mom but I found other things to do. Yesterday someone started talking to me about a tV show I never heard of called the partridge family. As a kid I remember the Munsters and the Addams family other than that I only liked old movies and that was if I was sick. Apparently it’s a musical? I have never seen sound of music and I did think I saw every nazi movie as a sick kid. 📺
Sorry I’m droning on. My point is I feel like I’ve seen and know tV/movies being in various states of chronically broke, poor, homeless leaves big gaps in what pop culture you know. Some stuff I only know of because it was being discussed on the radio.
I had stage 4 cancer at 29 that crippled me so I have had some chances to catch up, but most is garbage that I didn’t miss while jumping in the garbage. You can learn a lot by what ends up thrown away and I don’t just mean garbage.

I'm 77 years old. I've had many, many haircuts. Furthermore, I'm always amazed at how few "barbers" today even know what I mean when I say, "Please, tapered-up in the back...and keep the trim close to the ears". This artist did a wonderful job with doing the trim properly, and he gave the man a very nice squared-off back, as was his choice. It was a beautiful transformation, and I'm sure that man was ecstatic. Not enough credit to our great barbers. Bravo!
This is not just a hair transformation, but a life transformation When you look good, you feel good.
He looks 30 years younger, empathy seems to be in short supply these days. Life can be hard, I little love goes a long way. Seeing the joy in his face just created a wave of emotion I wasn't expecting. Love and respect from England.

Unbelievable. He's looking so much better. I'm a metal-fan and I had long hair for most of my life. My hair thinned out and I went to the barber. Scared. A few days later I wrote her a letter and told her how great I feel etc. I mean, it was a long letter that ended up on her wall. A nice haircut is really powerful.

It’s nice to see how much these men appreciate the attention of a barber. Women have a similar appreciation, but hair stylists often charge women so much more then men it becomes too pricey to have a stylist do their hair. I’m lucky that my 70-year old husband still works, and i can go to a stylist. Some women I know were on my schedule, and due to cost stopped coloring their hair. I love the feeling I get when the gray is gone. I hope some stylists do similar with women.

God is forgiving
He's got a kind soul and looked handsome after his cut. He deserves a roof over his head, regular companionship and food in his belly. I hope to god his family, old friends or someone else helps him. I went homeless as a combat veteran after returning and having issues dealing with things. Thankfully a kind family gave me a second chance by taking me in, putting a roof over my head and food in my belly. They taught me to let go and move on. I will forever love them as my second family. They forever love me as additional son and brother. To this day they introduce me to new people as their son or brother. I was very lucky. I hope that this gentleman gets another chance.

Everyone matters in this world as we all have challenges and hardships. I wish the best for him, and so happy you gave him a start to feeling better about himself. I thought he was going to break out in a dance when he looked at himself. I donate cloths to people in need.
I donated 2 days a month cutting hair of the homeless at St. Vincent De Pal, in Phoenix Az. for a few years. It was an amazing and gratifying experience! Sometimes just a haircut and letting them know they are not alone, can change everything in their lives!

A handshake, a hug, even a pat on the shoulder is a sign of acceptance that far too many people are doing without every day. Human touch is ESSENTIAL.
Modern people are so concerned with being "fuckable". Now imagine that you feel "untouchable". The fear in this man's eyes is palpable. He doesn't believe that somebody is being kind to him, and he doesn't trust it.
If you have love in your life, be thankful. If you have a chance to show compassion to a person in need...please do it.
