    I’m a sex and porn addict since the age of 10. I’m now 41. Trust me it is truly a life alerting addiction and disease. It’s a miserable way to live. There is no good in porn, it is very harmful and inevitably will lead you down other paths of sex addiction . I’ve ruined relationships and pushed away woman that truly loved me, blown ten’s of thousands of dollars on porn and prostitutes, been arrested for loitering. By all means don’t let your kids become exposed to this. I would have never thought that seeing a live action porn movie and also unknowingly discovering masturbation in the same moment would have resulted in an addiction that has spanned over 30 years but it has. I hope my words can have some positive impact on those who are struggling. I’ve been in counseling on/off for years and have stopped some of the more detrimental behaviors like prostitution and hookups but that miserable demon known as porn is always around. Not all of us overcome this addiction. Choose life over porn and sex addiction!

      JT, I can completely relate to everything you have said. I've struggled with porn addiction for about 25 years myself. Porn has led me down some very dark roads. I've done things I would have never dreamed of doing all in the name of sexual gratification. And when the climax of the orgasm is over, I feel like complete trash. I'm disgusted with myself. But the next day I'm looking at porn again. It's a horrible and vicious cycle and it is super addictive.

    Porn isn't even about sex anymore. It's about domination, humiliation, and control of another person's body.
    The pornographers make us view a person as just body parts for our own gratification.
    That's the same way Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer and all the other serial killers viewed their victims.
    When I realized that, I stopped the porn and started looking at people without selfish desire.

    I just got dumped by my girlfriend because I let our sex life fall apart due to my addiction. Biggest wake up call, as we both made it clear we still love each other, but the damage was done. I've been clean for two weeks, and I feel repulsed every time I even think about porn because of how I lost someone I deeply care for all for fleeting moments of pleasure. It took hurting and losing someone I loved in order to finally wake me up. I hate porn.

    I really enjoyed Anna's book, particularly in Audiobook form, with Anna reading. Anna's voice is very soothing and empathetic when she's 'in your head' (via headphones). I expect a bit of voice-delivery-coaching had gone on. I actually imagined, from listening to her, that Anna had a fuller face and softer features! It is strange how that mental image was produced. Anyway, aside from that rather superficial impression, the content of the book is phenomenal.

    I really appreciated the comment and question to Dr Lembke about sharing the truth as something for "unaddicteds" to do. If you are serious about this, I'd like to recommend looking up the Focusing Institute and dabbling in learning radical ways of listening in deeply true ways to ourselves and each other, and practicing it with each other, which is the only way possible to learn it. After a while you might wonder how you lived without it and treasure the changes it brings to your life in what you learn about your situations. I'd say most of us not living truly to our social nature.

When I was growing up, we had dial up modems and had to wait for just one picture to load. I never saw a fully nude women until someone showed me one on a trading card in high school.
    Wonder how this has effected the dating world where men are quickly distracted and want a change constantly.

    I swear porn brings like ‘Karmic bad luck’ (don’t know how to really name it and know it sounds whacky). I even researched it quite a bit and I’m not the only one, lots of people had similar worries when I searched it online. I do find it super interesting that it matches up with ancient religious ideas. In my head I always try to look for a scientific explanation but this one is weird AF to me.

      Call it what you will, if you relate it to sinning, it's a moral dissonance that you're participating in. If you believe what you're doing is wrong, the people you're using to achieve your pleasure, you're hurting, you feel negatively about yourself which brings negative things to you.
      Assuming you don't believe that, then it's that you interpret the things happening to you in a negative light because of the acts you've been involved in, and believe that's what you deserve. You develop a perspective of life based on negativity.
      It becomes a chicken and egg argument, are these things happening to me because of what I did? Or were they going to happen anyway and I am interpreting them negatively and relating them to what I've done?
      Either or leads back to the moral question for you of whether you believe watching porn is OK. The scientific answer seems to be that it is like a drug, the psychological answer seems to be that it is not generally beneficial for you or society.
      Long story short, I've grappled with this question myself. My personal answer has been that morally it goes against my beliefs, and I've found that not partaking in it has given me a more positive perspective on my life and the things that happen to me. Whether it be that more positive and less negative things happen since I've stopped, or that I'm just more at ease with myself internally and therefore don't see the negativity or interpret the negative as tied to my morally reprehensible actions.

      Every single major religion tells you to not be promiscuous and to practice discipline and integrity through various forms of worship. Why? Because religions are systems which are built upon THOUSANDS of years of human wisdom. The core idea has always been for you to evolve and become a better person in the process, exonorating god through the very way you life you life.
      Today, people get hooked up on the details and go "im too smart to worship a sky daddy lel", while being junkies or porn addicts, weighing 300 pounds and having the self-image of a runaway model or some hyper-inteligent underachiever who's life sucks for a myriad of reasons, with none actually being his own responsibility.

When it comes to smoking, I can go months without the thought of smoking coming to mind. When it comes to porn however, it crosses my mind consistently almost daily even though I don't use it daily.... There are some days where I feel like I need to O so I use porn but I don't think it's the O that I'm in need of but the use of porn.... it's been a couple of weeks of me thinking about this and just the beginning of this week I've come to the conclusion I'm going to stop.... i agree that porn is highly addictive but i dispute the idea that it works just like chemical substances where you need to watch more and more intense/freaky/hardcore scenes in order to get off, in the way that an alcoholic might graduate to opioids like heroine or benzos. My opinion is merely anecdotal, not scientific. I've been looking a porn for essentially 30 years but I never have really gotten into bizarre or violent stuff, even though I have consumed porn pretty steadily for decades now. I've asked others about this and the experience is similar. They aren't watching donkey porn or facial abuse as thirty year-olds just because they watched playboy videos as teens. That said, mainstream porn is notably more violent and intense than it was 25 years ago, so in some ways porn as gotten more hardcore without a viewer having to specifically seek out more hardcore violent scenes. But generally my tastes in porn have remained tame, vanilla despite consuming it steadily for 30 years.

      'Consuming it steadily' are the key words here you're using. You seem like someone who has remained in control of your compulsion to porn and have never been addicted to it and have kept it tame throughout your 30 years of consuming, which is great, good for you.
      I was a porn addict for more than 10 years, there comes a point where you watch so much that you become desensitized to just regular vanilla sex and in order to feel any type of arousal you seek out something more hardcore, eventually you become desensitized to that and keep going down a disgusting rabbit hole to even more perverted and weird categories, in the meantime you hate yourself more and more because that post nut clarity fills with such disgust and hate for yourself, it's a cycle of depression and self-loathing that gets deeper and deeper until you make the decision to stop.

      Doesn't this prove that the "mainstream, average user" has in fact built tolerance and has escalated to more extreme content and that you are an exception rather than the rule? Why else would the content have escalated if the tastes and demand of users haven't?

    • @frankwturner
      @frankwturner Год назад

      @@martinbanck1723 i don't see a causation/correlation. we don't have much in the way of stats of what porn searches terms are, i don't think, in terms of what drives views. I know that Milf is continually a popular trend, but that's relatively tame as a trend. the porn industry, the creators drive content. one of the biggest fetishes is ASMR, which is tame, just women whispering into a microphone. the tube sites have lost a lot of ground, the porn industry has taken a massive hit from OnlyFans which is quite tame. The porn industry is hurting. Most porn stars have to make money from OnlyFans. I don't think fans are requesting gang bangs and vomit videos, but I'm not sure, as we don't have access to stats. I think a large part of the creators in porn are quite sick and they have driven the industry to become more violent, but that's my hypothesis, not proof

      @frankwturner Год назад

      @@ambientjules if you consume it steadily as i have for decades it loses all pleasure, you become completely numb. it's escape in the way junk food is. But it's not something that excites me in a meaningful way, I haven't gotten down hours-long rabbit holes like when I was a teen or in my early twenties (I'm now 46). i don't go deeper because it's too toxic to my system. i think you have to get into specifics about your experience. Did you go from masturbating to vanilla sex to having to masturbate to watching gay sex? trans sex? watching women crush animals? I've never been able to do any of that, or I won't let myself, but it doesn't mean that porn doesn't have a huge dopamine hit for me. It's just not the same as crack or an opioid like heroin. A longer dose, i.e., a 3 hour masturbation session, or a crazier dose, like gay sex or women crushing animals, isn't going to get me erect like vanilla sex will. That's a reason why I argue that it's not the same as illicit street drugs.

    • @nightmaster6381
      @nightmaster6381 3 года назад +4

      The reason it's harder is because sexual urges are natural and happen to literally every human at some point in their lives naturally. Alcohol, nicotine, and heroin are not natural, they are external chemicals you first put in your body then get addicted 2nd. Only people who have used drugs get urges to do drugs. Everyone in the world is here because they were made through sex. We arent made by drugs.
      However, the 1 thing sex, porn, and all drugs have in common is the dopamine release. So, just like when you quit any drug, you should ween yourself of porn before quitting completely. Try to get down to watching it only once or twice a week then quit. It wont be easy, because like I said, sexual urges are normal and every human has them.

      I don’t have the answer to stop but I have a suggestion to significantly cut down your usage to a healthier level that worked for me. Start by weening yourself off it. Start by letting yourself watch it 3 times a week and don’t beat off on the days you’re not allowed to watch it. Do this until it becomes habitual (it will if you stick to it) and then decrease 3 times a week to 2 times a week. When that feels natural then drop it down to once a week and continue to fight until that feels natural. That’s where I’ve been for a long time after years of daily use, I’m going November without looking at it at all and I’m gonna see how long I can go without it. It’s so hard to kick because it’s so accessible and free. It’s not like drugs that you have to physically go out and spend money to get, you can just sit there on your phone and boom it’s in your hands in seconds
