You guys are so RAD! Животные
I love how you coordinate your clothes to match your reptiles. Posh. Just posh.
Hey Lori Halstead. Same Here! It adds a nice touch! :)
A little drop of hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol on the nose will make any snake let go immediately :) My rescue king attempted to eat my finger after another snake decided to musk me but he was so gentle that he did not break the skin. Naturally, I had to adopt the gentleman.
Hopefully you have it in a little holster for quick draw :)
thanks for the tip i want a mexican black kingsnake but i was a little worried about it biting so this helps!
@@backseatgamervision As a small snake(yes, few snakes you'd commonly find reach a smaller size than that, aside from garters, sand boas etc) I guarantee a bite from a kingsnake won't be severe. Keep in mind though any snake has the potential to bite, so be prepared if you get one.
I can relate to that
I learned this trick when mine decided fake plants were food lol
I love how you structure your videos, personally I am more of a lizard girl but I find these snake videos very interesting :)
Hi
Leopard gecko!!!!!!!!!
Leopard Gecko love your vids!!!
Hi! Love ur channel
@Jaziel Jake why would you try it you’re dumb
"If he latches on my neck just let me know." "I'm sure you'll figure it out." The SASS lolol
"That eats you or or its self from time to time"
*cough*milksnake*cough*
Hey PTasker15 PT15. Lol! :)
Yup, that's a common trait of ALL kingsnakes lol
098765 Craper no just hungry
They *are* related, yes.
Pueblans, yep.
I had the chance to buy a MBK hatchling last year. $125, big regret, wished I would have bought it seeings how they are $200+ now! I hope the market drops back down on them!
Hey Buckeye Husky. I wouldn't plan on it. If anything, the market for MBK's is only growing! :)
cali kings are way cheaper got one for 50$
Buckeye Husky I’m waiting on that price drop lml especially for a blue tongue skink
Every day I'm thankful I pulled the trigger in 2016 and got my boy for 60. The prices are insane now
May 2019 spent 350 for my female. Little pricey but totally worth it.
That's the perfect snake for me! It's almost my soulmate!
"It will eat everything they can including themselves" = ME
@760futura so... I live in Brazil, we don't have one of those here 😅
This was so weirdly emotional for me to watch, my first and only reptile was a Mexican Black Kingsnake, I'm surprised to hear they're rare since I got mine kind of randomly at a pet shop for 30 pounds, I'd owned her for about two years and had never been bitten, then one day I reached into the enclosure too fast and got a rather nasty bite and unfortunately I've had a phobia of snakes ever since. I love them but I just can't bring myself to handle them, anyway this channel's amazing reptiles inspired me to try again, I think I'll try a Leopard Gecko for now. Hopefully one day I'll be able to own a snake again. Your obvious love and adoration for the animals really reminds me of Steve Irwin who was a massive hero of mine. Thanks so much for the fun and interesting videos!
Wow, that was such a great comment! I'm so glad that we're able to help. A leopard gecko is a fantastic choice. And thank you for the comparison to my hero as well. What an absolutely incredible compliment.
so…you got a snake species known for frequent mistaken feeding bites, and were so shocked when it bit you that you became terrified of them?
@@geet9830 I was like 10 years old chief
To lessen the chance of getting bitten, just wash ur hands before handling and try to get them to get accustomed to handling, a sometimes they will freak out but once you grab them, they'll calm down. Ive never been bitten my my mbk
i was going to say... mine is a baby, but im not looking forward to being bit.
@@motives88 same with me. But ive 'trained' him to not bite me
How old is your guy now? I usually poke on her w/ my hook and distract her while picking her up.. she's fine once i have her... she's a bit flighty but she's about 3 months old. No bites yet.
@@motives88 currently, hes about 6 months old now but when i got him at 2 months old, ge was flighty for the first week and thats about it
@@olee8239 how'd you do that?
My milksnake King bit my finger when he was just a little bab (definitely my fault, I tried to pick him up while he was shedding- still feel bad bout that) and my only thought was about how CUTE the tiny little bite marks were, like King was so tiny and I found it adorable how tiny his bites were, and how it didn’t even hurt 🥺
Eww snake fetish.
This man's passion is an absolute inspiration to me.
Sidenote: Clint, if you are reading this, do you know of any existing morphs for the Mexican Black Kingsnake? Just asking out of curiosity.
Thank you so much!
I don't know of any morphs. This is one of those snakes where you could only do worse :)
@@ClintsReptiles So true. :)
@@lydiaeddins2083 That's so cool! I'm definitely considering buying one in the future.
Randy Loyd III Black kingsnake itself is a morph of a kingsnake ... morphs would include any morph of a kingsnake which they have lots of (high white, abbarent, mosaic, albino , ruby eyed albino )
@@drewv3293 how is this the case when they are born and then turn this way in the wild naturally? Albinos and other morphs of many animals were once found in the wild first but they draw attention because they're abnormal. This one isn't as you can find these guys in the wild hence it not being a morph.
I was recently given one of these little guys, hes still a baby right now though. But I honestly can't wait to see him fully mature. And he is such a sweetheart too, I just fed him Thursday and he just gently grabbed it. Hes just so adorable. 😭❤
That’s one amazing Danger Noodle
Hey Kreepa King, Indeed! :)
My favorite snake type is Trouser
Oh my, Clint my man... that is a beautiful example of a Mexican black king. Incredible snake. This very species is the reason I got into the hobby. 6 snakes later (2 of them kings) and I still don't own a Mexican black king unfortunately. It seems they're exceedingly rare in the UK.
As ever mate, your content is first class. Very much looking forward to the rest of this series... Thayers king next? (I know I'm pushy, hahaha)
Hey blakefish80. I agree 100%. The Mexican Black King Snake is by far one of the coolest looking pet snakes out there. Too bad they're not more popular. :)
Had one over 2 years never been bit...
i just got an MBK baby and hes so cute and so inquisitive i reccomend! he has bit me once but thats just because i had just fed him and i was putting his bowl back in. Didnt hurt!

Dr. Krieger, Да! :)
But that's the US military phonetic alphabet 🧐
I appreciate your very balanced, candid assessments of each species. You radiate enthusiasm as you highlight their great features, and yet you do not hesitate to explore the disadvantages. 👍
My dad had one we named Black Adder III. Had him a good 10 or 11 years, and he was always a gentleman, but we had to find a new home for him after my dad had a heart attack earlier this year. Black Adder's still truckin' so far as I know and I miss him.
I want you to know you're the reason I have a kingsnake. I fell in love with a little hypo brooks kingsnake about two months ago and she's absolutely lovely.
As a baby noodle - 18" long - she's surprisingly calm with handling. She only nipped twice (not me either time, I feel like they had plenty of warning - both from me and her - before she nipped). She did try to eat the mouse tongs last week, which was hilarious.
I've had my mbk for 3 years since a juvenile. I've never been struck at or bitten.
I’m glad you posted this my daughter got one and I’m terrified
Tania Roque they are badass and even a grown ones bite isn’t really painful
@@Sexy72Malibu r u sure the grown aren’t painful
I was i kid and my black king snake NEVER bit me. I just fed it the pinkies like i was told to according the vet
OMG HE FINALLY DID IT!!!
I want this snake so badly!!
Hey Baboonbootymeat. Same Here! One of these days...
I love the out takes u do at the end of ur videos
Me too!
My MBK used to bite quite a bit when he was a baby, but as he has grown, he has become super mellow and will just chill with me. I must have an anomaly of a MBK because he is super sweet and loves to cuddle.
I originally found this channel from the comment section on snake discoveries and it just sparked my interest and I honestly love this channel already!!!!
The long-awaited MBK video, basically the perfect way to start my Saturday morning. This is the first time away from my baby mbk (just left for the weekend) and I already miss her, but this video helps. Thanks everyone working on the channel for the new video, and I can't wait for all your reptile vids in the future!
Even though I am not interested in pet snakes, I love watching. The enthusiasm is contagious.
Clint- if you’re reading this, will you ever do a video on your best wild reptile encounters?
I ask because I think everyone has at least one- mine was seeing a coachwhip, it helped get me past a lifelong fear of snakes.
Careful, that's how it starts :)
I love the suggestion. I'll have to think about that one.
My first encounter with a snake was an adult rattle snake I almost stepped right in front of while it was basking. My Dad's response heightened my fear of snakes, though I'm happy to say my fear is hardly existant now and is mainly an appropriate respect for the danger venomous species pose when interacting with them irresponsibly.
Keep it up man, literally never tired of your enthusiasm. Can't wait for the next intermediate sized lizards!
This is the snake I want! I'm so excited you finally made a video about them!
Aah! What a lovely surprise! I love MBKs, my partner and I purchased one about a month ago as our first ever snake! Valentine is a dream, and absolutely beautiful as well! I highly recommend them as pets. :)
Thanks for the great video Clint, as always!
Can’t agree more. Highly recommend MBK. Totally stunning, manageable size, excellent eater (I can trust him to eat the pinkie when my other snakes refuse food), great temperament (mine is almost as gentle as my ball pythons), likes to explore (which makes them a great display animal). Everything you can hope for for a first time snake owner.
California kings were the first snakes that I interacted with. Great intro snake for new snake owners. I still love ball pythons a little bit more, but king snakes are a very close second. Great video! Thanks for making it, Client and team!
super informative and very professional video!! some point within the year i plan on getting a mexican black kingsnake and this is by far the best video i've seen!👍
Great video Clint, you’re my inspiration and reason why I have now a wide collection of reptiles including an MBK. Thank you so much and hope to meet you in the future and shake your hand for giving me such an amazing passion
I look forward to it!
I just bought my long desired MBK! He's right at home with my Ball Python Reggie, my Hognose Milo, and my Leopard Gecko Bella! Thanks for all the great videos Clint!
Hey Clint, thank you for this review. I know it's old and you might not see it even, but if you do.... I got a MBK largely due to this video, and I am in Love. I have a total of 7 snakes and he is by far my favorite. As far as being active. He is the only one I have that is out all day every day.
hi friends! i had a mexican black king snake and miss him so much. i will just say that if you get a mbk as a baby they will bite but as they get older they get used to you and can be lovely docile animals
Oh my gosh Clint, almost the very next video. You're the best!
Gonna go get on in a couple of days! Your videos are great and informative!
Super interesting! Even after watching a lot of videos on this snake, you bring up some points I never heard before, which is very helpful since I'm considering adopting one eventually! Cheers mate, keep making awesome content!
Did you get one?
Hey Clint. I’d love to see a possible video series on care guides for reptiles that are less well known such as the jewelled lacerated seeing as one of their main downsides is the lack of accessible info. Also, loving the videos, keep it up with these rating videos, they are amazing!
We may get into care guides soon. Have you seen our full video on jeweled lacertas already?
Clint's Reptiles yes I have. And I have noticed something in those videos which I actually like which is that they are in no way a care guide which is obviously good because it then encourages people to find more detailed care guides. However I also love your enthusiasm in your videos and how much you interact with them while talking about which I think is great. Tbh I just want an excuse to watch more of your videos and I think you’re definitely the right sort of person to be making a care video on certain reptiles, especially the less known ones.
I always give these guys bonus points for being so active during the day, wonderful display snake.
It's another snek video! \o/ And what a beautiful on it is! Loved that you colour-coordinated with your tie lol
Thanks, Clint, appreciate the very informative video :)
This is just one of those snakes that you want to match :)
What a gorgeous snake, and I find it _adorable_ that he keeps tying the end of his tail into a knot.
Another great video by Clint’s Reptiles
Got mine a month ago, and other than my corn snake, I've never seen something eat so easily. Glad I got to see what he will eventually look like.
This is the first snake species I've ever held. He was an amazingly sweet little guy. Excellent video!
I love your videos Clint! The outtakes at the end are hilarious too!
Hi Clint nice video,You’re one of the best reptile enthusiast on youtube That I’ve watch.Altough I prefer boa constrictor imperator. But black snake is gorgeous as well
Thanks for the love 👍🏻
BCIs are hard to beat :)
I Could not agree more
I got my MBK 3 years ago and she's been a treat to keep. Here's my review:
I live In Ontario Canada, which means we have -30°c winters and +30°c summers. Of course I had the appropriate equipment, but even through all that temperature and humidity variation, I have a resilient, food motivated and curious snake who doesn't mind being handled and treadmills easily. The only downside to handling them is them biting on very rare occasion. They are also fairly strong, and constantly want to be wrapped around, inside or down on something because they are non/lightly-arboreal. Despite that, she's learned to trust being around me and handled. She isn't the smartest little thing, but she's beautiful to watch in my 18x24x36/40 gallon bioactive terrarium so needless to say she's a happy girl. I would highly recommend this snake if you can find a reputable breeder, and will take good, long-term care of them as they can get up to 15-20+ years of age.
I got mine for $450 CAD, which is about $330 USD, IMO it was a great investment, they start off palm-sized and mine has grown to be around 5'0-5'3, over the span of 36+ months she's beautiful and I couldn't be happier, truly a great snake.
This made my day so much better. Thank you for that! 😊
You're so very welcome! Thank you for taking the time to tell me that :)
I love your videos, I love how comfy you are handling all sorts of different critters, and I have to say, I'm so very tempted to buy a snake after seeing video after video calling specific types fantastic pets. And it's too funny the way you really hammer the humorous attributes of different snakes home for us. If I ever get a Mexican Black Kingsnake and it's not a hungry noodly little dork that occasionally tries to eat itself, I'm going to be slightly disappointed. 😂 Not much though, because I'll still have a beautiful snake to bond with and watch.
Just picked one up today after this video and other research. I’m excited to watch him grow and try to eat both of us :)
I love these typs of videos from clint!!!
I just got one from a reptile expo yesterday. Already noticed the adventurous side. He’s a good noodle :)
I'm glad I found this, my roommates bf works for a reptile place and has one of these in right now, and I want him.
Love your content! I watch it religiously whenever a new episode comes out, it's the first on my to watch list. Can you make a video on nerodia snakes? I think they're amazing and a snake that not common in the pet trade
My first snake! I wasn't even planning on getting a MBK because I thought I wouldn't find one at the expo, but lo and behold, she was there, and I fell in love at first sight! Been with me for almost 2 years now, I love her and her curious, sweet personality ; v ;
I got to handle a Mexican black kingsnake today and I absolutely love them , I was a ball python type of person but Mexican black kingsnake is wonderful :D
I love these videos, thank you do much for them Clint!! It's so nice to see an actual professional talk about these animals 😊
Also, I was wondering what your opinion on live feeding is. Is it ethical, how would you suggest transitioning a snake that refuses frozen, etc.
I actually have a video on feeding snakes. I would rather not feed live, but sometimes it is a necessity.
OMG! Clint i love the new shirts and hoodies with colors and long sleeves. thanks so much for listening!
We always listen. Thank you for the great feedback!
i bought myself a green noodle w/ a head hoodie thanks to the best youtubers ever
I love my Mexican Black Kingsnake! Mine bit me after holding my ball python and yes it did take a while for him to let go! But overall an awesome snake! Great video!
What an especially beautiful snake! I happen to buy my baby girl earlier this year at a local reptile expo. She is very tiny still and just precious. She has given me a nip once but she is about the size of my pinky in width so I didn't mind. She is my only reptile friend currently as I am pretty scared of snakes, but I'm getting over it. (Oh and you're very right, Baby Girl looooves to eat!)
I like ur channel I also like how u reply to most of the comments
Found a melanistic garter snake last week. He has dark red eyes, don't think it is a pure melani because you can still see his pattern. The king snake reminded me of it.
Absolutely stunning! I may consider adopting one,I fell in love with snakes when my sister took me to her vet class 😊
I had a Mexican Black KS which lived for over 20 years & it never bit me once, when it was very young( first 6-9 months) it was basically handled everyday which helped. All in a stunningly beautiful snake as this guy says easy to keep & always admired by nearly all my guests.. ps have been bitten by corns & a dot dash King Snake not sore but sometimes your shocked by how fast they struck.. Loved old Shaft RIP. would highly recommend the species as a pet.
Old shaft🤣 how much did he cost just curious?
@@noface_playes8719 cost me £40 but was a fair while ago obviously..
Boss: Late again? What was the hold-up?
Me: I had hard time getting my pet snake off my finger.
Boss: One of those days?
Me: Yup!
This is my next snake on my list 😍 i have ball pythons and corn snakes but these are stunning xx
Another great video!! What an awesome snake too!
Hey John Grabowski. I agree, The Mexican Black King Snake Rocks! :)
Awesome video, as always man!
I was lucky to buy a MBK last weekend at a reptile expo for only $125
do you have a link where can I order?
Thank you!!! Been waiting for this one :D
I hope it was worth the wait :)
Saw MBKs on Brian Barczyk's vlog. I am hooked. Absolutely gorgeous and lay some weird eggs.
Hey Drew Daniel. I saw that too!
You're adorable and educational, Clint! keep up the good work.
As always a great vid! You do a great job!
Thank you so much!
I absolutely love kingsnakes. I have a lavender cal-king at home and he's a total kitten. I work at a small reptile shop and we have a gorgeous MBK. He's recently become pretty food aggressive and has hit three of my coworkers as well as myself. Luckily he didn't hold onto me, but it took over 20 minutes to get him off my coworkers. Still love the little stinker, though.
Hey your mother. Lol! They definitely love food! :)
Awesome video! When my wife and I choose to add a snake to the family I'm almost certain we're going to make it a Mexican black. Thank you for all the great info :)
Hi from spain. I just got my first reptile a MBK. Your review help me a bit to decide for this species. Since i dont care for being bitten sometimes and i love the look and is easy to care this is the perfect reptile for me(im a snake lover). I called him valerion.
My dad keeps a pretty large black kingsnake and I remember when I was really young it made me quite afraid of snakes. Now Im an adult and find them as fascinating and beautiful as I do every other animal Im interested in. Though I think I still prefer amphibians to snakes I may get a snake in the future. Hognose snakes are hard to come by in Britain but they sound wonderful
I'm getting one for Christmas! I'm so hyped
Just purchased an MBK yesterday! A baby. Reptile show.
I love your channel so much 🐍
I remember watching this before I had my Mexican Black Kingsnake. Now I actually have one! Best decision I ever made, I love my lil dude.
Very helpful thank you!
Wow this helped me alot
Thanks I'm gonna consider this
Held a Mexican Black King at the Reptile World Serpentarium and now im dying to have one!
I'm planning on getting a Mexican Black Kingsnake as an emotional support animal when I go off to college.
Great video, Clint. Do a video on the indigo snake!
We just might be able to make that happen :)
i really like the vids in this series, great intro to people who are starting out and your not afraid to show off some less well known species. that being said... it would be the bees knees if you did a video/videos of some of the rarer small species of gecko , basicly display only, like pachydactylus, strophurus, lagodactylus, nephrurus(knobtails) ...and on and on...
Well, I’ve finally obtained my own MBK. He’s a bit under a year old now, I’ve had him for about a month, and he’s bitten me three times. (Always seems to be a food bite; he kinda just hangs onto my hand, though now he’s started to let go when I put him back into his enclosure rather than having to be pried off.)
That being said, he’s beautiful, spectacular to watch explore, climb, and dig, eats enthusiastically, and when he’s not digesting food or shedding, I’ll usually see him out and about for a couple hours a day- as a juvenile! When he’s bigger and more confident, I can only imagine he’ll spend plenty of time exploring his enclosure. (I’ve started target training him for food, so he’ll hopefully stop biting my hands eventually.)
Would you elaborate on the target training a bit more? So cool!
I would love to see your animal rooms! Are you open to giving us a tour of your enclosures?
Had one for 7 years. Found it cut loose in the bus terminal un NYC so I got mine a yound adult but for free. Was so dehydrated it drank water off the sidewalk from the rain. Was the sweetest snake. Only ever bit twice but it was our fault. Never used a selerate feeding enclosure so she was hungry and she associated us opening it with food. However once she bit and realized she let go very fast. Beautiful and great temperament snake. Wish I could get another but they are expensive.
Another very helpful and great video.
I have a suggestion, maybe perhaps you can do a video on what to do during a disaster? After hurricane Irma hit, I lost power for a week and the house was boiling hot in the Florida summer, we had no idea how long the power would be out for. I didn't have my snakes and lizards then, but now I do and it worries me a lot on what I should do if something like that happens again.
I’m a very late reply but Snake Discovery made a similar video!
Yes! Omg i waited so long for this. I love mexican black kingsnakes and i really want one
They are amazing!
this is so funny because i just got my MBK last month, her name is Molé, and i thought it was just me that gets bit by them but i feel better that it's common 😂
Hey allison. Lol! :)
Benjamin's Exotics hello !
I got a 6 month old 2 weeks ago and she’s bitten me at lest twice and tried to swallow my finger once each time I’ve held her. Lol Good thing she can’t even draw blood though at the moment!
Beautiful king snake. Gorgeous little black ones
King snakes are definitely my favorite snake! Mine was red/black and looked like the poisonous one. He was super chill when he realized I wasn't a good meal.
Hahahaha these behind the scenes. 👏🏼😂
Gorgeous snake and finally in-market to buy - can’t wait for one to try and eat me. 🖤
I love your videos man. I think Elaphe Schrenckii should be on your list of top snakes. Im not sure if they are popular in America but they are awesome, and easy to take care off. Dayactive, good eaters, docile. Don't need expensive heating etc.
Keep it up! great channel!
Thank you for the suggestion. I'll have to research them more!
I would love to see you make a movie about them. They are very underrated in the hobby in my opinion!
