I been snowed in @ 67yrs old up north of you since Mid October. Temps hover at -0- from 1 a.m. to 7-8 a.m.
Was born in North Hollywood in 1956 but developed a pair and skin too go with um in the wind blown sand of West Texas from 81 till here, 2019. I live in Oregon's South Eastern Cascades @5100ft Has been rough this year, " going on 6 months of snow". But your tougher then you want too believe. You'll make it if you want too! Exercise your born given right at your independence!
Here in NW Illinois I've only been 'snowed in' a few times in my 70 years, but I have food in the freezers and canned veggies in the basement. The only thing I would miss is fresh milk, cause I don't have a cow anymore.
Plan ahead and buckle up! Politicians and first responders aren't there to feed you.
Shout out to the water company and fire department helping plow 👍🏼
In Tahoe, The Homes 🏡 are completely Buried in snow ❄️
Yeah, this used to happen in the 70's. 15-ft drifts and no plowing for weeks. Hope everyones prepared !
2 of my friends live up the mountain. They where not allowed drive up so they made a short vid of them walking up 15 miles to get home and to their animals. It was a journey.
😮❤
They were. Not. They where
Just another day in Newfoundland, but without heavy machinery to move the snow it's really difficult to do anything.
Greetings to all on The Rock from us in Toronto. We know you get hit by the worst weather and our prayers and thoughts are with ya, b'y!!
@@marktwain368 true, that's why I live in Vancouver.
my mom lives in Creastline, and her streets are not plowed not once, they are stuck home since Friday, and as of last night electricity went out.. and we cant get to them either....this is heartbreaking..
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully, next time supplies and Winter storm needs in case of snow can be stocked up in time. 🥶
Get your mom a few kerosene heaters & some fuel, they are handy in a pinch.
Me too. In Crestline. Roofs are starting to collapse under the snow. It will get worse. Goodwins closed to roof collapse, and Ace Hardware closed to roof collapse.
I grew up in Rialto, moved to Colorado in 2012. I haven't seen it that bad here! Ever!
People, it's a storm! Sit tight, relax. Be calm. If your not in danger do not try to go out. All snowplows are doing their best to clear the roads. Putting themselves in critical weather conditions. Be calm!
I agree 👍👍
😱 Save us, Gavin ! Climate Change, we're helpless !
Our road washed out where we are but we were prepared & got plenty of wood if the power went out (it did for 4 days in Jan) we also got creative and were able to supply people who were unprepared with food, water, pet food etc.
Unless your roof caves in…and people are idiotic for not being prepared with roof lines to pull the snow off their roof!
Roofs are starting to collapse all over. Snow plows and shovels do not help roof snow. It will get worse as snow turns to ice and gets heavier We have one grocery store and one hardware store; they are both closed now due to a collapsing roofs.
That is dense snow. Wishing all safety. 🇨🇦
They knew that the storm was coming though....so now someone has to risk their life to save them. People are so selfish....
why the drama?? people know there is snow on those mountains, they know.when they move to those areas, they knew there was a big storm comming, most people who live up there have money lol. but the news want to make the note ahhhhh drama.
This is all earthquake country. Why are you not prepared?
I lived in SoCal for 40 years, 15 of those in Victorville and Hesperia and always had what we needed for at least two weeks and 5 days in our cars....

I still have empathy.. just not that much.
I have food, but roofs are collapsing all over town. Today a house burnt to the ground because no fire dept can get through. People are dead.
We had almost 2 weeks notice before this storm came in. ..just sayin...
The Mountain folks aren’t complaining. They got this. The news lady seems upset;)
I used to plow in big bear, Crestline and Wrightwood. The crews are doing all they can. Trust me. Y’all moved to the mountains and should have had a clue stuff like this happens.
Oh and then you will be upset when they block driveways. Where to do expect them to put the snow. I guarantee cars are parked in the streets as well.
Living in Crestline always had a freezer full of food and plenty of firewood.
I grew up here, please stop victim blaming.
@@invictette72 😂 are you saying you’re a victim?
Then you know this is a highly unusual snow event.
The only things that should be allowed on the roads are plows, emergency vehicles, gas or oil tanker trucks, and MAYBE semi's with food or grocery items.
Grocery is store closed because roof fell in as roofs are falling in all over, and that will get worse over the next week or so.
@@rosesandthorns47 Poor preparations on locals then, you knew this was coming. Every house should have 3 mos food & water, meds, etc and sweep, shovel and remove snow from roofs every hour if needed.
@@AlexEs63 I have more than 3 months of prep. But I won't kill myself climbing ladders in the snow and ice at 70 yrs old. I've been here for a while. There’s no excuse for not being prepared if you live in “the mountains”.
More solar panels and ev charging stations.

The odd irony is that many that choose to live up there are the "keep government out of my business" types ;-)
Not true!! We are not climate change deniers. We helped other states during floods and tornadoes. Even during our devastating fires. You probably don't know this. Really? So... conditions were a-ok while there were blizzard conditions to plow narrow, twisting mountain roads?
When the governor issued the warning and declared a state of emergency, this allows for emergency funds to be distributed to the counties. At that point its up to the county to decide how to spend it. These people are upset with the county for receiving funds not used for what it’s intended.
🙏🏽
People have gotten complacent after years of drought.
The ‘people’ aren’t complaining. The newscaster seems upset 😂
Oh well dude you wanted to live there you should of been prepared for anything living in that area 😂
For those of you thinking of moving to Colorado, we get this every winter.
I'm in Europe but am fascinated by the Colorado river.
Is it looking good this year?
The 6ft of snow are nothing to us just the lack of man power and equipment but the county is ridiculous.
Thanks for the heads-up
These folks are communities. It’s the news whose hair is on fire. And politicians, there always gonna sound lame. The folks r stuck now, they’ll be unstuck by the weeks end.
At least Colorado is competent and has snow plows.
Wow, just sold my Lake Arrowhead cabin 6 months ago...
It’s snow, not the end of all things real estate. By weeks end the roads will be cleared and this will be a story we tell flatlanders.

They will actually be cheaper than your DOT plow drivers.
Other cities, like Reno, do that.
Reno... where it's relatively flat.
Stuck under a roof, surrounded by walls. Oh no. People in the street living under anything clamor for such. Better there than a cell.

They missed the part when they said BLIZZARD COMING 🤣
😱 'But we're in California, we get things brought to us and don't shovel snow every hour like the rest of the world.'
Wahhhhhh, wahhhhh
It’s a resort area, the people that have live here since the 80s 90s know what it’s like but it’s the people from the city that come up to their rentals and are only prepared for a weekend that are struggling. The mountain community has grow significantly in 30 years they have more ground to cover than they did back then and it doesn’t help that we rely on the corrupt county of San Bernardino that have been stripping us of our resources leaving us with limited plows and personnel
San Bernardino county really dropped the ball on this one
They should have been clearing the snow as it falls..so SB and Caltrans drop the ball. Caltrans never really clears the roads on time
They got like 8 feet of snow. There isn't much they can do. People are going to get snowed in. It happens. I have been up there in similar conditions. I dug myself out of the cabin and then dug out my 4X4 truck and drove my arse home. Had I been 75 I would not have been able to do it. I would have had to wait. If you can't dig yourself out don't go up to the mountains in a snow storm.
People were warned about the potential of these storms.. it is your own responsibility to be prepared for an event like this. Given the amount of warnings prior to the storm cycle began I’m not feeling sorry for you. If you live in the mountains you need to learn to live in the mountains, that means being prepared..
Caltrans, the chp, and California authorities in general could do a better job tho, I was there last week Thursday- Sunday and saw the carnage first hand ,
Curt, no one is asking u for a darn thing. Heavy snow plow equipment is needed, and will arrive to clear the roads by weeks end. These folks got this.
@@yammietits5040 Amen, they are clueless about real problem solving.

How can they get help if they are snowed in with more snow falling? Can rescuers even get up there?
So sad for everyone take care 😮😊❤

WTF are they complaining about? They are stranded inside their homes. What do They want the county to do for them? Clear the snow from their yards so they go outside in cold and snow? I think be stranded inside your home with heat in a snow storm is better than being stranded outdoors on the side of the road in your car.
Roofs are collapsing under the snow load all over the place. People die. It will get worse over the next week.

Hopefully this weeds out people that don't know how to stay prepared in rural areas. Let them move off of the mountain to reduce our population. This should help get rid of those who bought up there cause it was cheaper. If you don't know how to stock reserve supplies of food, water and fire wood and don't drive the appropriate 4X4 for the mountains (not the subaru junk) then you have no business being up here.

So easy to have “zero” sympathy when you’re not in the situation or claim “they should have been prepared” many people are living paycheck to paycheck , can only afford to stock up on so much. Trees are falling down left and right, power lines are falling down , people that did stock up are also running out of wood and food!
