This whole event just seems so surreal still, even seeing the mountain tops that enclose us in the bay still full and white with snow! Truly a magical winter for California and the people living in this state!
I live in West Los Angeles, and the mountains are covered with snow.
@@shqa574 This is a repost of a comment I just left on this video. Seen you were a local so I thought I'd ask.
If somebody doesn't mind taking the time to answer, I have a question. I love learning about the weather, particularly severe weather like tornados and hurricanes. I live in MI, where we get all four seasons, but FAR FAR away from Cali. I've been to the smokies in TN numerous times. Favorite place in the states, and I've been told the mountains in the west make the Appalachians look like little hills! So between the deserts and the mountains, CA has always been a bit of a wild card, when keeping track of their weather norms, especially seeing that snow on those palm trees! I'm aware that the mountains have always gotten snow, but, do the areas shown in this video, ever even get snow? Or is this truly a freak of nature weather event?
feels a lot less magical to those of us in the mountains under 8 feet of snow, with gas lines exploding from the weight, all of our grocery stores having collapsed, and the majority of us trapped in our homes for two weeks.
@@Luis-fg9ou I imagine it would.. Do you know about how large of an area this disaster has covered? I'm so sorry you guys have to deal with all this. Particularly difficult given the nature of this and no way to just get help to people.
God is sending a message to al gore!
I'm living it. Not that unusual for the Northern Sierra, but definitely unexpected for the southern part of the state. Stay safe friends!
The waterfalls of Yosemite are going to be spectacular with the Spring runoff. Holy cow!
California the most beautiful state of all
Not even in the top 10
@@ChrisRJ According to you? Correct. According to Google search? False.
@@robtangent4664 Google search, lol
@@ChrisRJ And what garden spot do you reside in, I gotsta see this wonder.
I lived in California for 9 years and never saw snow until I moved to the east coast. Enjoy the snow ❄️ people 👋🏼
My friend in Tahoe said he has 10' Snowbanks around his property, and that it's so high that the snowblower can hardly get the snow up on top of the bank. He said this is the most snow to date in recorded history.
That's amazing 😍
x winter of 1993 was worse! 28 feet fell on the Sierra Nevada at 4500' elevation.
Thank you for telling WHERE each pic is taken. Snowed in in Magalia Ca☃️
Beautiful, fun and scary, all at once.
Hope all the homeless humans and critters made it through OK, and hope that all those who got stuck indoors and in their cars survived well.
Really well-done video, ABC7. This is a keeper.
These days it was probably done by a freelancer because no news station wants to pay anybody living ages for anything
Great compilation. That picture of the Hollywood Hills dusted with snow with the snow covered Santa Monica Mountains in the background is surreal.
California really needed the snow... So I'm happy they got some.. hopefully it lessens the drought this year
За «них» вы рады. Радуйтесь за себя, «душевная» наша…..
@@tamaravesela3040 I can't translate.. it won't let me. Sorry
Well seeing how California is mostly desert anyway
NO. This won't do anything for the "drought" because the idiots in California won build dams and reservoirs to collect all these waters. In fact they are simply releasing all these waters into the delta to "save" delta smelt. But you know Gavin Nuisance will try to ration the water come this summer because of the men-made "drought" and your water companies will jack up your rates. Again.
They don’t keep their water tho, it flows into the ocean
Nice video! That scene of the mountains with the Hollywood sign was stunning!
Indeed! Very beautiful!!
This is beautiful!…could be the storm of the century that grand kids will ask about, I’m in Ventura and we have snow all the way down the mountains looking east, incredible! ❄️🤠
Looking at the panoramic views of the San Gabriel mountains was breathtaking. I don't remember seeing so much snow....
Truly weather that will always be remembered. Say what you want about cali but she can really flaunt her beauty when she wants
Well said
That's so sexist. You just gendered the universe, making you history's worst monster by far.
Actually, we need one or two of these every year for the next 50 years.
It’s a once in a lifetime sight. Mother Nature with her unbelievable amounts of strength and magic. From tiny snow flakes at Disneyland snow falling at the Hollywood sign to the 6 feet of snow in the mountains. California has been blessed with so much snow that the drought problem that existed no longer causes concern
What? Are you stupid? This is because of climate change. This isn't normal.
Yay not as much drought. Now if we can do something about the excessive homelessness, crime, drug use, trash filled streets, gangs, businesses leaving CA, bad policies, etc. We'll be alright
Mother Nature aka HARP

That was a beautiful video montage!
Beautiful compilation
Lovely video, thank you for making it!
To everyone affected in California. Please be safe and stay warm. I know you guys not use to of it in California. Message from Canada 🇨🇦
Aboslutely beautiful
L.A. and San Diego's Mountains get Lots of Snow several times a year.. Just not usually this much all at once..
Beautiful...much better than fires everywhere 👍
Wow! Never seen it like third in all my nearly 80 years . . .
It's a winter wonderland.. Cali style. 🌨️🏔️⛱️
The Snow brings out the real beauty of California.
Not very beautiful when you deal with it every Winter in MN.
Never wish to see in such a place where there is thunder snow because it is terrible there, those that lives there are always worried when it's winter season because the thunder snow restricts many people from going to work and kills many animals and plants. Greetings from Miami
@@cheri7054 Duluth is one of the most beautiful places in the country - especially in the winter.
@@cheri7054 Try Northern Canada.
@@cheri7054 that's why we don't live in MN...
Can you imagine how the waterfalls are going to be like especially in places like Yosemite 🏞🙂😂
Yeah there's going to be so much runoff california might get out of a drought😂
LOL the month I left California to move to Portland, all this snow happened haha - Portland was crazy but I wish I was there to see this in California since we've been in drought for so long.
I hope the deer and elk, small animals and livestock are ok...snow so deep it could suffocate them. Be careful in those narrow pathways with snow way over your head. Avalanches can and do happen in those pathways!
Honestly surprised more roofs haven't caved it. Great builders I guess!
Been 30 years since it snowed like this.
Winter of 1993 was worse! I still hurt from all the snow I moved that year!
California needed this, too bad for the inconvenience, God is awesome!
🇺🇸❄🐻❄🇺🇸. 2023. 👌 THANKS ABC 7 NEWS BAY AREA .
I can imagine movie studios paying for the rights to this footage, particularly the one of the Hollywood sign. The Day After The Day After Tomorrow
Even San Diego's mountains got 3ft. again.. most since 2008. Usually only 3-18" during each storm up there..
Snow cleans the earth
From Boston and I'm a snow lover but unfortunately this year was not as usual. We didn't have much snow this year . It looks like it went to California this time
Yes, Chicagoan's didn't have much snow this year either, many strange things happening in this World.
@@tiptoe3429 It's called climate change
@@djkache No, it's Not! It's CALLED, ..."Be Prepared, the End is Near!"
This reminds me of the Blizzard of ‘78 in Indiana. I was in the 6th grade at the time.
OMG I remember that, I was 6 and the neighbors across the street had a blizzard party. The snow plow had gone through, so my family had to climb over a snowbank at the end of our driveway, hop into the road, then climb over another one to get into the neighbor's driveway! 🥶
They say it never rains in southern California, but girl don't they warn you. IT pours, man it pours!
Amazing an beautiful
This year full of surprises in California snow ❄️ rain 🌧️ and tornado 🌪️
Wow, I didn’t know it snowed in Disneyland!😧
In 40+ years, I have never upvoted -- or much less, managed to get through an entire -- News Station video clip... Until today!
Blizzard in California means prices for produce in Canada will go through the roof.
(Theres always a reason for our grocery conglomerates to rip us off)
Well the Central Valley was literally flooded a few weeks ago
It’s beautiful!
Be glad it was snow- it was rain there would have been massive flooding. Snow is mother nature’s way to bring water over longer period of time.
The snow will melt, then you'll have your floods
@@frankmorris4790 Only if it melts faster than it absorbs into the ground
@@ldc5603 ...and it will. Southern California melts are always rapid once you get to 70*days, and they'll be right along. Then once the ground is saturated, as it is now, water starts coming from seeps and vents and springs. The Santa Anna will run mightily for a time as will Temescal It will be scrubbed to near bedrock, The Santa Anna needs to be flushed.
Love the music 🎶 ❤
Unbelievable Winter In the Mountains...
Five more years of this weather would be nice.
California was once a golden state tarnished by the state government.
This historic snow and rainfall was the best thing that's happened to this once great state in a very long time.
Here in Georgia today we're almost 80 degrees this is unusual to.they said this was the warmest winter on record we have ever had.
What's A beautiful snow followed by beautiful flood (now). Congrat
Thanks 7 News
It's snowing in California and I'm over here in the Appalachian Mountains in flip-flops and shorts. The trees are already in full bloom, haven't had a single day below freezing since mid January. This is the most bizarre weather I can remember in my 36 years.
A blessing.
This is so awesome! Good thing I don't live near the mountains.
truckee! WOW I know it use to get tons of snow but that is surreal
Nice and peaceful
Here in Michigan we are use to this.
I feel for all that are going through this craziness.
Be safe, drive slow!!
Love from Michigan ❤️
No need for "Christ Sake"
Beautiful
Didn’t expect this video to be so amazing
Nice snowy place
AWESOME 👌
reminds me of the blizzard of 1978 in Boston. we could experience the most difficult year in modern history this year. earthquakes. floods. fires. tornados. and endless other natural disasters.
look at the bright side. it's better than raging fires.
Unfortunately more water = more growth = more fuel for future fires.
Excellent video!
No surprise in Reno, we had snow as late as May 2022.
Welcome to our new climate.
That storm was crazy it went for December to March the longest craziest storm of my life
Thunder
Hail
Snow
Flooding
It was crazy
“All the Leaves Brown and The Sky is Grey” … make that white!😮
Man I am from Irvine, and my friends have been sending me videos and pictures. I left California for Australia about 5 months ago. I am now in the hot summer in Sydney, and watching all this bums me out lol I never got too see this my life time and I'm 29 lol
Praise God Almighty for his merciful provision. Hopefully this makes a dent in the low water table and helps finish filling all the reservoirs. Stay safe California, we’re praying for you!
I was thinking it's like an answer to prayer.
California love!!!!
Californians needed the snow. The drought was destroying the forests and depleting the lakes!
Wow largest snow storm
Its funny how shocked people are when this is actually normal weather
It's just leftover snow from last year from the Midwest.
Y'all welcome! 😁
Well done video
I'm an American citizen living here in Manila Philippines 🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈 ok central out
Great upload. Appreciated. What's an umbrella?
I hope that it helps deter some forest fires
Oakland too!
Surreal to see the places that haven’t got any snow till now. Living in Central Valley for 30 years before I moved to Arizona. Especially since Oakland and mission peak get snows. Was told up between Sacramento and Stockton freeway 99 closed cuz of flooding while ago. Crazy.
Weird weather over here recently
Snow in Disneyland? 😯
I have no doubt Newsom will find a way to let all that melting snow go straight to the ocean rather than use it for agriculture and drinking water.
Moved from SoCal to Wisconsin...I see this every year...and I only miss some of the people in California. Don't miss the state agencies at all.
California is so beautiful. I wish it was less liberal. Center is good for all.
Yep, twas an amazing storm.
Never live on a flood plain. Why? It is not if but when a flood will occur. Prepare for the worst but hope for the best. My prayers go out to these folks but preparedness is a MUST.

lol soooo no Mt. Tam and no Mt. Diablo? Isn't this ABC News BAY AREA?!
I’m actually happy to see someone else get the nor’easters for a change. Fun huh?
Just like the days when the water flowed. Repeat of the Donner party!
This has happened in the mid west many years ago not so great to get out with. The moisture in the air makes it feel 10 times colder
Il clima non cambia, si sposta!
SLEET = not snow buddy ! snow is flakes sleet is clumps !
What gets me is where's the Snowmobiles, usually this time of year that people up there have snowmobiles..?
Great images of mother nature doing what she does. Makes me think here in Australia we are in for cold winter this year as the past 5 years or so have been rather mild.
I’m sorry but you people who live in California, you guy’s can keep it. You guys have earthquakes one year, next year you’re having extreme drought and wildfires everywhere and now there’s massive snowstorm and flooding, mudslides, hillsides. It’s just one calamity after another. It’s ridiculous
How come they have snow blowers at hand? ... and all the equipment for snow removal?
