- 2023 is officially the year of the 3-Yard Quilt!
Each week, a new video will be posted for a quilt made from the 3-Yard book series by Fabric Cafe. Three one yard cuts turn in to one lap sized quilt top. Easy enough, right?
The goal for these quilts is to use as much of my stash as possible in order to clear space for new fabrics, notions and more! In the end, the quilts will be donated to local charities and individuals in need of a new quilt to call their own.

Love all your different quilts with this fabric.
That pattern really showcases the fabric nicely. Great job 😊
Your fabric choice is perfection! I have loved following your 3 yard series. And. You have put me in the mood to watch the Toy Stories movies. We should all have a friend like Buzz.
Wow! that pattern really showcases the fabric! Thank you for sharing your process!
Love this easy pattern! Great for charity quilts!
Turned out really cute. You're right that the pattern would be great in any fabric. Thanks for sharing.
3 yard quilts make terrific kids quilts. I agree that it's worth it to get extra fabric to make a traditional binding.
Such a great “boy” quilt. I always do double ( 2.5”) binding. Binding is the first thing to go in a well loved quilt.
Cute fabric!!
All the quilts you've done using the Buzz Lightyear fabric is adorable! 💕 Thank you for sharing. 😊🌹🦅
I really, really like this. You are right this pattern would be great for almost any fabric. Thanks!
You always manage to take patterns that I am less excited about and inspire me to do them up. It looks fantastic!
This is my favourite of,your 3 Yard quilts so far. Haven’t seen them all, but these fabrics and colours are so cool together.
Well. That is excellent finish. I’m doing it.
Nice job! I love it when you talk to us about your thought process when deciding things such as fabric orientation, how you decide colors, etc. Some things I might not have considered.
I really like this pattern, too. Made it up in Christmas fabric last year for a close friend. Your turned out really cute in those adorable fabrics 🎉😊❤
I just made thar pattern for a blanket for a dear friend of mine, that had her 90 year birthday the other day. she likes flowers, so lots of flower on two of the fabrics 💐
This is truly my favorite one !!Love the colours😊
I am so glad you did this pattern because I have been looking at doing it for a long time but wasn't sure of fabric choices. Thanks.
Another awesome quilt I just love your videos
Great color scheme! I’m really enjoying this 3 yard quilt series! 💕
That pattern would be a good one for my Harry Potter fabrics
absolutely! such a good pattern for big and small prints!
This is a great quilt… the fabric does work perfectly with that pattern! And I like the idea of handling directional fabric in the borders. I avoid directional just for that reason but this really works! 💚
Excellent choice on pattern for these prints! I bought TONS of novelty fabric while working at Joann's, I love your channel because you use the same type of fabric I do!! Helps me to choose patterns, thank you!!
You're so welcome! I didn't think the novelty/licensed prints would do well in these, but I'm glad they're helping likeminded shoppers!
Love this quilt! I just picked up that 3 yard quilt book last week at my local quilt shop. I’m looking forward to making a quilt with this pattern. I agree, there are so many options.
I have two similar pirate fabrics. Thanks for giving me the idea to use it. Now to go after third fabric. I love your Buzz Lightyear quilt.
What brand of quilting machine do you use? What size?
This is probably my favorite pattern from the Fabric Cafe pattern books! I just finished making this pattern using two different cat prints with the accent being a peachy pink and I love it. It sews together so fast and I really like it that you can use two focus fabrics and not have to cut up a print that you want to keep in bigger blocks. I plan to make some more quilts using this pattern as I am making a lot of quilts for my family. Yours turned out so adorable and I love the colors and the contrast of the two prints. I also buy extra for my binding as I don’t like the economy binding method either. I know it is done to be able to complete the quilt with the three one-yard cuts but I would rather purchase a little more or use the same fabric for binding that I am using for the backing and be able to make the double binding. Happy quilting, and I truly enjoy your quilts!
So wonderful!! I love this pattern. I actually have it but you brought it to life!! ❤️❤️❤️
I love that...Funny thing is I bought both of those prints on Amazon 3 weeksish ago to make a quilt for my queen bed....so happy you made that haha...its beautiful.
Very cute. I’ve become obsessed with three yard quilts. I usually buy extra of one fabric to make a larger border. I like to make the quilts just a little larger than the pattern.
That's a great idea! I think the length on these are good but sometimes could use a little more width. Wider borders would totally help with that
"That's where the feet go": we're on the same page😉
I have made this one several times. I always draw an extra line 1/2" away from the corner and sew both lines giving me an extra 1/2 square triangle from those corner pieces you cut away. I then make flying geese from those extra squares and use them as a pieced border. It means I have to cut the outer border a bit bigger, but I really like how it turns out.
that's such a smart idea for the fancy border!
I love me some Toy Story
Really enjoy your videos. You sure must over using the Toy Story fabric. The fabrics look so different in the various styles you are sewing.
I love toy story, but I'm totally ready to take a breather from these faces!
I cringe every time I see you cutting unironed fabrics, but everything always turns out beautiful so I shouldn’t be worried 🥰
I know I can get a little reckless at times, that's for sure!
No Trixie! She must have been snoozing!
She's been hopping from window to window and sunbathing, despite it being crazy hot!

how hard was it to learn the QCT software??
it took a little getting used to, but i LOVE how it walks you through all the steps - I use power panto mode, and it is fantastic. it does all the math for me, and I just have to get everything situated with measurements and then it is good to go!
I was just thinking, you needed pressing.
I just love 3 yard quilts but they are to narrow.
I have to say that might be my main complaint besides the binding situation. the length is good, but i like to wrap myself up like a burrito in my quilts!
