I've always felt the easiest solution to the nucleus problem was to just say he body had several of them and he just needed any one of them to survive, and the one in his head was designed to survive in case of self destruct.
I think the Zenkai isnt a plot hole because of how the Zenkai works. Zenkai is the Saiyains body catching up to their opponents after they get hurt by them, literally adjusting to the power output, which is why its so inconsistent in growths AND why Vegeta thought hitting himself wouldnt work, because a Saiyan just chain crippling themself wouldnt give that boost since its just their own power.
The suicide zenkai can be explained by the Z-Fighters sensing their own ki from Cell. Technically, if he blew himself up with someone else's ki, it wasn't suicide.
I vividly remember the What-If fights in the Budokai series. The Cellin fight was torture given how little damage you do. And even though it wasn't exactly a what if scenario, I liked the Super Buu transformations where he absorbed Frieza or Cell. Fighterz did a nice call back to that with Android 21 absorbing each of them in parts of that Kami forsaken story.
I guess Bulma went to Namek and gathered the Dragon Balls and wished Trunks back and maybe made revived Kami thus the Earth Dragon Balls came back and boom Earth restored.
@@babarshah6479 And how would she do that? Don't forget they don't know the location of New Namek and didn't find or even look for it for over a decade. Why would that change suddenly after Trunks' death?
Yeah I simply took it as that self-destruction did not boost his power but the whole basshole with Gohan and having 18 literally punched out of him is what gave him enough damage to qualify for
I would imagine the Zenkais Cell Got were from eating the Senzu Bean after his Perfect Battle with Goku, and the fact that he was still injured by Gohan before actually blowing himself up. Because the damage BEFORE the destruction was from Gohan, a different person. Thus, when Cell healed from a single cell of himself, the Zenkai activated in a flurry, restoring him to what he once was, and then some, which is why he returns as “Perfecter” Cell. Something Cell may not have remembered since he lost his sense of self for a few moments before healing.
To be honest I always thought that he only needed one cell to survive due to the combination of Piccolo's and frieza's dna combined since Frieza and survive despite his body being cut in small pieces when he was revived being what lets him regenerate from a single cell.
I always liked the fact that imperfect cells pain quotes remained in his later forms in the budokai series. It was a nice little quirk to have in the game
I never find it surprising at all that Cell can survive and regenerate even when he has his head blown off, that is probably something he inherited from Frieza / King Cold. In Resurrection F we see Frieza's body part still jumping alive in pieces and Frieza was able to be fixed in the healing pod as well.
In Fighterz, Cell flat out tells Goku, i think, that he was lying about his weak point. Says that if he told them how to stop his regeneration it wouldnt be as fun, or something along those lines
I always thought that the explanation you gave for the Zenkai boost always explained why he could regenerate even if it was his head that was destroyed. An offshoot mutation of the Namek genes from Piccolo allowing other cells to work like that. Think Sylar from the end of Heroes Season 3 if you will.
That’s interesting that Cell didn’t have *any* human DNA. As you say, that’s a definite oversight, given what we know about the power and potential of Saiyan/human hybrids. But the, it’s hardly the first (or last) time that humans got ignored in Dragonball...
Probably for the best Gero didn't know that, I'd imagine the addition of Human DNA would actually have made him stronger and more adaptable, but it might've also changed his personality.
I always thought the nucleus situation was similar to the rock demon from the 4 saint beasts from yu yu hakasho where he can move it around his body so it is safe from limbs being blown off.
I actually cheered when you mentioned Cell inspiring Lavos' "outer core" form from _Chrono Trigger._ That game is _straight-up_ both my favorite video game and my favorite thing Akira Toriyama had a hand in. Yes, really. Also, let's be honest. _Any_ injury that a Saiyan sustains gives them a power boost. I mean, wouldn't you agree that Vegeta's gravity training was a series of self-inflicted injuries? Or Goku blasting himself with a Kamehameha during his trip to Namek? (Which was filler, yes…) Toriyama can say what he wants, but _we_ know the truth. Saiyans are broken, nerf now. (:
On one hand, the idea of Cell spawning an army of Cella actually sounds pretty interesting. A perfect species to call his own. But then again...WHAT THE HELL IS THAT 4TH FORM?!
I’ve been thinking about how heavy is Cell? Perfect Cell can crush the skull of Android 16 with his foot, crushing a titanium alloy structure like that would easily take tens of tons of force, yet that amount of force did not send Cell flying (his other foot didn’t even lift off the ground) did Cell also have the mass of everyone he drunk?
makes me wish cell returned in the super manga, instead of moro doing very similar things with his battle with goku. Not exactly the same but, it makes you think.
Honestly Cell being made up of mostly Cold Clan dna and Saiyan dna means that if he ever trained he'd probably reach Gohan Beast or Black Frieza level pretty fast.
My personal theory about the Zenkai thing and Nucleus thing is that Dr. Gero made sure that the Namekian DNA and the Saiyan DNA in Cell are playing way to well together. Basically it goes like this: Cell gets critically injured by a foe. > Regens the damage done to him. > Zenkai kicks him, improving all of his stats. > Thus improves his ability to regenerate, and the limits of what he can regen from. > The improving of the regen affects the Zenkai, making it so that he can get a power up from self inflicted explosions. So, Dr. Gero just did his genetic mumbo jumbo and boom, Cell's weird abilities explained. Unless the Zenkai thing was because Goku teleported Cell to King Kai's, thus messing up the Ki in Cell making it count as Goku's attack.
When it came to the nucleus situation I was actually reminded of the older taguro brother in yuyuhakusho. A part of his power was that he was able to move vital organs, for example his heart, to different locations of his body quite quickly. So when Cell gave the nucleus explanation I just assumed that it is by default in his head but in a situation where it could be destroyed, such as with the kamehameha from goku, it activates a defense mechanism that automatically makes it move to a safer location. So when Goku blew the top part of his body off the nucleus moved to cells foot or something. Not sure if that explains the self-destruct as well but it is still something. Also yes it did learn how to dodge from Piccolo's cells. Also quick question. While it is confirmed that Mr. Perfect Cell can't absorb people anymore, could it be possible for Cell Jr.'s to do so?
I figure the nucleus if for extreme cases where he's down to basically nothing-the nucleus being a single specialized cell which he can fully regenerate from, if necessary.
As far as I’m concerned: his imperfect form is the best, the most original looking. His perfect form is the next best, looks good but a little too much like Freeza. Semi-perfect is the worst, I just can’t take him at all seriously with those lips.
With the nucleus.. I've heard people say that it can move to other parts of the body to prevent total destruction. It's about as good an explanation as any and that's what my head canon is! haha
I don't know why but when Masako was summarising why cell devoured those people, and especially later with the last X form, I made a mind paragon between Cell and some sort of horrifying type of Tyranid from the Warhammer 40K universe.
I believe Vegetas reasoning for Krillin hitting him for the Zenkai was more so Vegeta wouldnt subconciously hold back (like how your jaw is strong enough to bite your own finger off like a carrot, but your brain stops you instinctively from biting at full force)
I personally think that why Cell feels like he has a large body count is simply because of the fact that we see what's left of a town, village, city, etc. While if we compare to Freeza, the only thing he leaves is ruble and dust. This might also be tied to psychology (though I haven't studied the field in years) since physical items carry more emotional weight, like watching a toy you have fond memories of melt down in a fire. It's something tangible that's left your world, and it meant something to you. So while it's more impressive to make a planet turn into dust that's floating around the former place where it was, think Cell was probably more psychologically scary because of his trail of clothes.
I always figured he got the zenkai boost because it was an unnatural injury. Cause I'm pretty sure most characters cant come back from borderline death due to self destruction. Then coming back.
I remember in one of the dubs Cell mentions that he can freely move the location of his nucleus within his body in order to protect his regenerative capabilities, and that it was his only weak point.
It makes me wonder about what ever happened to Raditz’s corpse. Cause we never see the gang take his body, and Kami didn’t take it, so it would make sense that Gero would take it. You’ve got a huge supply of saiyan DNA just sitting there.

Yeah I simply took it as that self-destruction did not boost his power but the whole basshole with Gohan and having 18 literally punched out of him is what gave him enough damage to qualify for
12:32 guess he retconned Imperfect Cell claiming he had all of these individuals' dna mentioned along with Gohan and Nappa when talking to Piccolo.
You can make a drinking game out of this.
Take a shot every time Masako mentions perfect Cell's perfect jaw line
I always liked the fact that imperfect cells pain quotes remained in his later forms in the budokai series. It was a nice little quirk to have in the game
Fun Fact about the androids: In DBZ Kia Android 19 is voiced by Todd Haberkorn (The voice of Natsu from Fairy Tail and Tarble of DBZ)
And Jaco the Galactic Patrolman...
And the Male Morgan from Fire Emblem Awakening.
That whole cell absorbing krillin fever dream was the most bonkers out of nowhere dragon ball moment of my childhood
Cell X's design reminds of the Xenomorph queen from Aliens
That’s interesting that Cell didn’t have *any* human DNA. As you say, that’s a definite oversight, given what we know about the power and potential of Saiyan/human hybrids.
But the, it’s hardly the first (or last) time that humans got ignored in Dragonball...
maybe cell would have hair
Probably for the best Gero didn't know that, I'd imagine the addition of Human DNA would actually have made him stronger and more adaptable, but it might've also changed his personality.
@@gelusvenn5063 also, HAIR
The fear I felt from that fanart in the beginning was indescribable
My favorite part of Cell's makeup is how it is character-informed by Gero's knowledge at the time.
Cell X kinda looks like something from a Kaiju movie. The old versions.
Love the Dragon Quest XI reference as well as the Chrono Trigger one! Nice and interesting video as always Masako!
That Cell and Goku image will haunt me forever XD Curse you Masako!
I always thought the nucleus situation was similar to the rock demon from the 4 saint beasts from yu yu hakasho where he can move it around his body so it is safe from limbs being blown off.
I always just assumed that Cell's nucleus thing was by default inside his head, but was movable within the body at will.
Always puts a smile ony face when cell and final flash are on the same video
I’ve been thinking about how heavy is Cell? Perfect Cell can crush the skull of Android 16 with his foot, crushing a titanium alloy structure like that would easily take tens of tons of force, yet that amount of force did not send Cell flying (his other foot didn’t even lift off the ground) did Cell also have the mass of everyone he drunk?
Interesting
makes me wish cell returned in the super manga, instead of moro doing very similar things with his battle with goku.
Not exactly the same but, it makes you think.
One recon is that senzu would make you not hungry for ten days in the og dragon but still heal the team
Spooky season? Its November!
Halloween is always in our heart

9:15 jibbly jibblies? What that!? ahahah. Whole 16 minute video worth it for jibbly jibblies!
Honestly Cell being made up of mostly Cold Clan dna and Saiyan dna means that if he ever trained he'd probably reach Gohan Beast or Black Frieza level pretty fast.
Cell has the DNA of the biggest move theif in the series
Advertisers: How many mid-roll ads do you want on this video?
RUclips: Yes
I mean to be fair, prior to blowing himself up, Cell DID get the beating of his life.
Tien traumatized Cell into having nightmares .
Kek
Cell, too, is also my favorite villain. Especially, his perfect form.
I always thought it was a missed opportunity to not have Cell nail Goku with the Wolf Fang Fist
Good theory
I figure the nucleus if for extreme cases where he's down to basically nothing-the nucleus being a single specialized cell which he can fully regenerate from, if necessary.
Cell's second form was personally Akira Toriyama's favorite form.
Mine too
2nd? I liked 1st and Perfect
2nd > 1st > perfect 🐛
As far as I’m concerned: his imperfect form is the best, the most original looking. His perfect form is the next best, looks good but a little too much like Freeza. Semi-perfect is the worst, I just can’t take him at all seriously with those lips.
I'd say i find that weird, but considering he originally wanted an Old Man and Mime to be the big bads of this arc I'm not that shocked 😂
It's amazing that Cell's worst nightmare was Krillin
With the nucleus.. I've heard people say that it can move to other parts of the body to prevent total destruction. It's about as good an explanation as any and that's what my head canon is! haha
Masako? Halloween? You preparing early 😂? Little late for 2020 Halloween
Halloween Week.
November 12.
Little late getting this up Masako haha.
Masako: It's Halloween Week.
*checks calendar and upload date*
Am I in the right timeline?
Having your Halloween candy early... It's November...thats like 11 months early!
The scariest thing in this video is the first image because I don't wanna imagine what they do together.
Zenkai boosts are near-death.
Cell is a bioweapon build to optimize every traits of every races he's composed of.
Oh gosh, Cell's night terror freaking hilarious.
Fun fact:did you guys know that zarbon was the prince of his race until frieza conquered his planet
@@shawnsuckstm3353 the more you know
It makes me wonder about what ever happened to Raditz’s corpse. Cause we never see the gang take his body, and Kami didn’t take it, so it would make sense that Gero would take it. You’ve got a huge supply of saiyan DNA just sitting there.
Love the Homestarrunner reference.
