  • Kiera is studying Psychology at GBC with goals of pursuing a masters and doctorate in clinical psychology to one day become a sports psychologist. She plays soccer semi professionally with the Delaware Ospreys.
"The life of a student athlete varies amongst everyone. They will all experience different feelings, events, and hardships during their time at the collegiate level, however, they shouldn't have to struggle alone. Student athletes struggle on and off the field and it is important that the necessary resources are provided".
I am currently a senior at Goldey-Beacom college majoring in Psychology. I plan to graduate in the Fall of 2020 and then pursue a masters and doctorate in clinical psychology to one day become a sports psychologist. In high school I was always involved in sports at the school and on travel teams. My high school team was Susquehanna Champions in 2014 and my travel team Delaware Rush were state champions every year. My individual accomplishments in high school include being names All-County first and second team and was named team captain of her team. In travel soccer I was captain of my team, I was selected for Rush Select, and I also played for Maryland ODP. I am currently going into my fourth season of soccer at Goldey-Beacom College after recovering from foot surgery and during the summer I play for the semi-pro team called Delaware Ospreys. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I can relate, I was a Navy SEAL, I was boxing on the All Navy Boxing Team but when I wasn't working or training I would go into a funk.

So what you’re trying to say is anyone that struggles with issues like OCD, ADHD, depression, Etc. should not Pursue dreams of being an athlete. Because they struggle and have a hard time. Wow You sir have just won the biggest jackass award. Now if you’re referring to in her speech where if you speak up about your problems. And you are told well shouldn’t be an athlete. It is still not funny. And still makes you a jackass.
