Gosh how sweet. That really was your dad commenting. My dad and Grandpa taught me alot for a girl. Enough to get by but not enough to get hurt. I don't no what that means but my grandma has always said the phrase. Your dad must also be a handy man to be around and learn from. I'm better at dogs, hunting and tractors, farming than I am building. I do try, just not great at measuring. Lol. Measure twice cut once,I remember them saying that. Everyday of my life. Such a small world. But this knowledge took my inspiration from you all to a whole new level. Thank you for doing what you do and keep up the good work. There are plenty of people here in the valley rooting for you all! You e inspired me to take my own journey in life and to not just do the same old things, again thank you and good luck!

As long as the cardboard isn't glossy, I remove the tape and any label stickers and compost it too. I let my yard grow wild for a couple months and cutting all that down and putting that and my compost on my beds. I live in northeast Ohio so, a jump on those beds during the winter is a plus. I have been using the cardboard in the beds for years. It helps to hold in moisture, keeps weeds down and attracts tons of worms.
Sitting here on my Saturday watching this drinking my cup of the morning movement!!! Thanks you guys I love my coffee!!!! And knowing what love goes into this coffee makes it so much more enjoyable!!!!!!
Love watching you folks work together, with helpers, to build your dream. This is one of the things that is missing in contemporary America lately. Here, people mostly borrow huge sums of money and then someone hands them the keys. Then they pay thru the nose for decades to finally own it - as long as nothing goes wrong to interrupt their payments. Building gradually, with your buddies, to build up sweat equity and create just what you need, with no unnecessary frills. Plus, you know how everything works so you can maintain it largely by yourselves. Self-sovereignty. Resilience. Sustainability. And a small carbon & resource footprint. Friends of the Earth at work!
My observation is the mistakes are a result of lack of planning. I built only one house, for me and my family, but did not make a ton of mistakes. That's because my nature, my education, and my profession trained me to plan projects. I planned the schedule with critical path, costs, and made a comprehensive material list ahead of time. Nothing was left to figure out later. I spent more time planning it than building it. You'll be able to do that on your next one if you choose to not make mistakes. That includes drawing everything out with dimensions. Structure, electrical, plumbing, HVAC ... Make you are modifications prior to finalizing your plan. You guys have learned a ton and are able to build whatever, and if you plan it out thoroughly before you start then it should go off without a hitch. Blessings.
Kaylee has come a long way. It is very cool to see her confidence in all the different building trades. I recall seeing her trying to use a shovel, and thinking she may not be the gal for living off grid. I am very happy to have been so wrong. Well done!

I'm amazed and proud at all the same time. Thanks for sharing and as always, stay safe, and God bless love ya Nancy
I've been on vacation and didn't want to watch you guys on my cellphone, so you're the first ones that I wanted to watch first. You've come a long way since I last saw your videos. You guys are amazing, Kaylee you rock! I also helped ny husband do a lot of the things you two are doing, but many years ago, when I was younger. Love you guys
Of all my utube people I can always expect to get timely videos from you two thank you both I’m so seriously thinking of moving to the jungle there with you with my savings!!!
As always, awesome job peeps! I just had a thought. That water that you are collecting for personal use: Make sure that whatever paints and varnishes and other materials you are using on the roof, gutters and pipes and everywhere else that water touches will be non-toxic. That way you don;t end up poisoning yourself or giving yourself cancer. Just double check than and look into it please. I want all you guyz to live an extra long and healthy life! All the best to yous!!
Hey guys great work. I've been on rainwater for the last thirty years. Get your water tested and check the pH. Most rainwater is out of whack and can end up eating copper pipes and Califont heat exchangers in a couple of years... Quick fix is to keep a couple of cinder blocks in each of the tanks. The lime that leaches out sorts out the pH imbalance.
Lola's farm something new every week and all you guys are amazing, I couldn't work on the roof don't like heights but you have no fear, always look forward to your video and Instagram again thank you for sharing. Stay safe cheers from Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺 👍👍❤️
Great Job! It is looking so good and the perfection that you strive to have makes that place safe and strong. It's going to be awesome when you finally get to watch the lightning and thunder storms from your loft. The water collection system is working like a champ, ya'll are unstoppable.
We love our rainwater too. I understand the excitement you feel hearing it till you tanks. Ours are full at the moment. You are so happy it's great watching your view stay safe
It's so exciting to see things moving along so quickly. BUT, DON'T FORGET TO VOTE ! IT'S SO IMPORTANT. Just a reminder from your Aussie friend, Diane the Dauntless 💃, who is currently following US politics, as well as your Panamanian adventure.
I look forward to you guys video every Saturday morning. I don't know you guys but in a way I feel like we are old friends just because I've followed your journey for awhile now! I love you guys, thank you.
Hey guys, super important info for you both. I had a check in the comments first but didn't see it mentioned. The first flush is important to prevent things like legionnaire disease. Basically the any bird poo on the roof can flush into the first flush system and not your water tank. The micro organism in the poo then doesn't "culture" in the water tanks. When you shower, flush, wash thats when things like legionnaire spreads and what makes a first flush super important. Not so much the leaf and debris catching everything thinks. We love watching your videos, amazing!
I like this set up for gathering rain water better than the one you had to blow apart on you in the field awhile back. Enjoyed dropping in to see what you've been up to. So happy for you both. Love the cat & dog sleeping together in the bed. Adorable!
My favourite thing to do on a Sunday and Wednesday (because i am watching from Melbourne Australia) is catching up with your progress. Love watching you guys. You are so inspiring 🥰
Your crusty kettle speaks volumes about your values and it's these little things that make your videos satisfying. Oh, and Kake is my brother from "another mother." Please tell him about the new Disney+ show, "The Mandalorian," he will love it!
I had a really smart dog Sleepy Chow/Shepard mix who liked to watch tv. He watched the whole movie Jango Unchained and was getting emotional with all the violence. About a month later I dug out a bb gun that I had when he saw it he freaked out and started barking at it. He had never seen a gun before, I think he thought something bad was to happen so I put it away and had to reassure him that everything was fine. The poor guy was really worked up. I love you named the farm after Lola. Sleepy had a kitty also Meha 7lbs 2oz but she was the boss. I'm glad you include them, some people don't. Mine have passed but I'll meet them on the Rainbow bridge one day. Peace & Love
great job, now you can catch the rain water and your tanks will never be empty, I'm on catchment and have been for 12 years, always have water in my 8000 gallon tank.
I moved from Panama to Italy on September last year and I am so sorry I did. Good luck guys. I lived there for 7 years and it is great now that I compare.
When are you two gonna do a singing video.....maybe your friends could sing some popular songs from Panama.....a celebration when you move to the shop????
Just noticed how much your kitty has grown, no longer a kitten, a full grown cat. Love that she and Lola sleep together. If people could just be that way, one species or culture hanging out comfortably, what a different world this would be. PS. Been doing on-line tele-conferences with your friend Jackie. Immigration visas in Panama are going to change, but nothing is nailed down yet. I may just have to come and stay 6 months as a tourist, then go to Columbia or Nicaragua for awhile, then come back. Still gotta rent or sell my house first. But I really want out of the USA and I'm not giving up. Love the work you are doing. See ya next video.
Glad you got the water collection done. That's important. No more hauling water up in the truck. Now to get that water heater going using excess wind power.
I love your channel...I'm binge watching in the middle of the night and that's not me...Your content is so interesting. I love the fact that you guys are so happy and even Lola and Roger are just loving each other most of the time....it's just all the love and it's so obvious that the way you are living is so enriching to your lives. You guys have grown so much and I'm so happy for you. I am going to sign myself and my 9 year old grandson up to take your course on how to start youtube. We would like to show our move from our pole barn home in Indiana to start from scratch in Florida. We are moving from Indiana to Florida on a piece of land with no utilities. My grandson loves to cook and we hope to let him do some cooking for youtube. First, we want to document the treehouse build as we do it. So we are excited to take your class thank you for making it possible..
My back hurts just watching 🤣 I went to Boquete yesterday! Met Roberto and Arturo and I did a coffee tasting ☺️ so, so different from commercial coffee.
Beautiful glimpse into your life. What a phenomenal thing to be so self reliant as you both are. What an inspiration! I love your energy and passion, and laughter ♡
Last shot was beautiful awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww :) Congrats on your water!!! I did 50 gal containers , three..and I Rember how powerful it felt not to have to rely on the grid for my garden :) You guys have really knocked it out of the ball park this year! I pray 2021 is even better for all of you :)
Well I know what it is to be living in rain water I live in PR and it is a very nice 👌 thing to have after all people here have lots of trouble with the water and electricity services but I don't have does problems thanks God. Solar power is nice and I am a process of wind power. Keep up the good work guys 👦 good luck.
Thank you tons. I've remodeled a few older small houses. This last one after thinking it was completed I started redoing my mother's enterior(just updating) to come back and find gutters were level not at correct slope. Now after months of rain, plus leaves other debris it backed up in gutter pushed water in roof. Now I have a saggy spot in ceiling. At least it's next to wall not out in middle but still I knew better. My mistske,I've been wondering before winter hits couldn't I just add a cover type like what your calling face plate then attach gutter at proper slope. Wow I've made a huge boo boo. It's how I learn my whole life tho. I break I fix it I learn from it. Well normally I learn from it. Lol. I thank you two for giving me hope this will be an easy weekend quick fix. Plus it looks good. Thanks again you two. Great video,as always. Kitty how sweet. I took in 2 strays. Cats can eat way more than I was thinking. Wow,plus drag in alot of carcus. LMAO! Stay healthy, safe and happy. See ya next video.
Doesn’t your roof slope towards the back of the house? If so, maybe the gutter should be mounted on the back fascia of the house. Kaylee (sp?) amazes me with all of her mechanical talent. That’s just wonderful.
I thought it was just me, but it looks like the gutter is on the highside of the roof ? With the corrugation it would seem like only the low side is necessary. GREAT GOING GUYS ! Love your videos !
God bless you guys and your journey to live off grid, been watching your progress and i must say its entertaining in a most lovable way. You two have some bond, yes i see yous growing old together. That view when you wake up in the morning is priceless. Very few people have that. Again my friends God bless what your doing and achieving.😄
Renewable energy powered Water heating element plus hot water storage Calorifiers = warm water for showering in luxury - great posting as usual - BW & TC
Love seeing your progress! I still see you guys welding on galvanized steel without masks and head right in the smoke... Take care of your health and keep up your hard work!
Be aware that the black painted pvc pipe will get messed up by the sun, i would personally have it painted white with a UV protective paint or at least wrapped in a reflective layer. PVC like to get brittle and break in the sun. I wish you guys all the best in the world and i want you to know that i have been enjoying all your videos since the one you have parked the buss on the land and secure it in place :) lost track of how many videos i watched because i enjoy them all.
I'm so excited when a new video comes out, so I realized that I need to make a contribution monetarily because these videos give me joy! This replaces cable!! Once you move into the powerhouse, how will the animals be able to climb up that ladder. You could build a 1' LONG ramp along the wall to reach your loft.
Omg y'all scare me up there on the roof lol I can't imagine how your Mother's feel when I'm freaking out about it. But you guys are doing such a great job. I never heard that before Jordan about the builds for your enemy, friend and than yourself it made me laugh. Lola and Roger are so dang cute!! I love how they love each other. So happy for y'all Take care and god bless!!
Just hook up a solar shower and or electric water heater already and stop freezing to def. You should be ready for the electric water heater by now with your solar and wind power kicking. A nice pvc pipe sprayed black for your solar shower will keep you warm. Make a quick camp shower. Just a thought. Thanks for the great video as always.
@@bonniefurman7476 No idea... all I know is, I have a 200L tank that fills in 1 day when the weather is bad... I think they should be able to get around 500-800L on an average rainy day
@Eric Ferguson They’ve got 5 of those big water tanks... Their last rain collector 🙈 wasn’t as big and they got well over half way full... They’ll be having baths soon
Hey Kaylee and Jord! Big fan here! When I grow up, I want to run away from home (I'm 64) and have a tiny house in the trees, maybe below Rodrigo (Hey, LOVE dajungleboi) closer to the valley, for ease of exploring. I might let my husband come too.. I do enjoy watching your shows about constructing your dream structures. But would love to see you guys devote an entire show to a thorough site plan of where your property and it's features are currently in development and a projection of your vision as to what you hope to see in the future. Oh, and y'all keep that Kaylee/Jordan vibe going, it works!
Great watching how things are coming together so nicely. You have a great team helping you. Those gutters will certainly help in your water collection.
Why don't you get a glassfiber mat? Like a "unburnable" barrier between the weldballs and what ever is underneath/at its side. I use it to protect the car, since I can't weld under the roof structure, because of all the wood (yes my workshop is on the second floor!)
I no you were talking to them but Thanks. I take in all these tips myself. Again, thanks for that tip. Rust is annoying, ugly and just something else to worry with. Easy fix on something's but I still gotta stay on top of it. I bet that's why edges of my shed roof is starting to rust. Can't remember what it was cut with but I can assure you I just grabbed what was closest or already out. Have a great weekend, thanks again.
@@lorihutton4719 your most welcome. For the record I am registered builder in Australia. Here we have licensed roof plumbers. I’ve been told by a few of them it’s mandatory to use nibblers for the exact stated reason being rust. So yes Lori , great idea to take their advice. Tin snips or nibblers all the way. 👍🏻👍🏻
Guys next time you have a load of cardboard use it as a weed represent in the garden or on the paths and put woodchip or compost on top. It will help kill off grass or non perennial weeds. Helps build your soil, the worms will love it and it will make keeping your beds clear of weeds much easier long term
This time of the year is the most rainy in Boquete and in all Panama do to predominant winds (330º north) and the continental barrier between the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean and the clouds need to unloads the waters it carries to overpass the mountain range, I love this land, I visited for the first time when i was about 8 years old in March 1964 and the last time was in April 1982, I see you love my country and his people, it is been 38 years since last visited this land do to exile, I am leaving in Montreal, Canada since August 1983. Do you guys have taste the wild blackberries (moras)it is plentiful in Volcan and Cerro Punta and it is so delicious.
Really appreciate Kakis red ball cap with the love of Jesus. So glad you shared that with us and a big thank you to❤ Kaki! I know He will continue to richly bless you. 🤹 Love to all and cuties Lola and Roger too!🌈 when you have time(haha) a vlog starring Lola and Roger "talking to each other" I believe would also be a big success. 🌠
We finally have hot water here in Costa Rica after 3.5 years...it is incredible. However we live on the Nicoya hot coastal community...so not quite as bad as Boquete cold showers.
I so look forward to your videos each week, it's just sooo sweet how Roger & Lola get on and snuggle up. One question why don't you put some sheeting over the metal structure it would make it much safer up there?
Wow! This is the first we've seen of your videos. It's so cool to see your projects progress through the video. Keep up making these awesome videos 😄 we'll definitely be watching!
My friends have lived Tiny and Off Grid for 15 years. They put a Solar operated chicken coop door on a timer their hutch. The chickens know as the Sun goes drown to get their chicken booties inside. This way even if you are away the chicks are safe.

So much joy. Thank you and bless you. Oh yeah, I’m in total love with Roger!❤️❣️💕And of course Lola too! So precious how sweetly they are together.
love the kitty and pup lying together Everyone there gets along Love watching your progress
Your crusty kettle speaks volumes about your values and it's these little things that make your videos satisfying. Oh, and Kake is my brother from "another mother." Please tell him about the new Disney+ show, "The Mandalorian," he will love it!
Happy to see Lola’s Farm coming together-one metal screw at a time ❤️
I had a really smart dog Sleepy Chow/Shepard mix who liked to watch tv.
Making our Saturday mornings shine. . . Beautiful Vibes everywhere for everyone !
We love you guys also!!!!!!! Thank you for L-I-V-I-N-G! And giving and loving your dreams into reality!
When are you two gonna do a singing video.....maybe your friends could sing some popular songs from Panama.....a celebration when you move to the shop????
I suggested that they record a tribute to Eddie Van Halen and play the song "Panama".
Mistake Plate........funny stuff, another great video, thanks! ✌️🇺🇸
Glad you got the water collection done. That's important. No more hauling water up in the truck. Now to get that water heater going using excess wind power.
I missed Rodrigo today. I really enjoy your videos you are such hard workers. Lots of love from South Africa
I love your channel...I'm binge watching in the middle of the night and that's not me...Your content is so interesting. I love the fact that you guys are so happy and even Lola and Roger are just loving each other most of the time....it's just all the love and it's so obvious that the way you are living is
so enriching to your lives.
Water - Life - Great Job!!!
Beautiful glimpse into your life. What a phenomenal thing to be so self reliant as you both are. What an inspiration! I love your energy and passion, and laughter ♡
That head scratcher lol
I love you guys. You were so fun to watch when you can hear the rain 🌧 🎶 coming in. God bless you all.
I can't remember, did you ground your building??
That water collection is going to be great.
I’m always smiling at the end of these videos. Definitely need to see more Lola and Roger time.
Doesn’t your roof slope towards the back of the house? If so, maybe the gutter should be mounted on the back fascia of the house. Kaylee (sp?) amazes me with all of her mechanical talent. That’s just wonderful.
You go girl! I am so proud of you Kaylee and all that you do work inside by side with those guys . You amaze me❣❣❣❣
Working beside those guys*
I thought it was just me, but it looks like the gutter is on the highside of the roof ? With the corrugation it would seem like only the low side is necessary. GREAT GOING GUYS ! Love your videos !
God bless you guys and your journey to live off grid, been watching your progress and i must say its entertaining in a most lovable way. You two have some bond, yes i see yous growing old together. That view when you wake up in the morning is priceless. Very few people have that. Again my friends God bless what your doing and achieving.😄
Wish both of you long and happy life
Renewable energy powered Water heating element plus hot water storage Calorifiers = warm water for showering in luxury - great posting as usual - BW & TC
Agreed! No more cold showers!!
Get/build a solar water heater!
Come on Lola's farm 2.0 includes warm bathes for Lola. Hook it up already. 😆
Now we have water 💦 That’s great guys. Love your team work. Hello to Kake from 🇻🇪. Keep it up guys, it’s all coming together. 🤗😘🌼
Hi Monique, bests regards!
You kids are doing an amazing job . I'm so impressed.
I couldn’t watch you two up on that roof! I got so dizzy 🥴. Everything is looking so good!! You’re amazing.
I remember when they traveled around South America with Trent and Allie and Frank of course xx
coming on fine..be careful..bless the person who sent the equipment
Perfect way to end the video with the sweet pets! Love it!
It’s surprising how much water you can collect...
On a rainy day I can get 200L from an 8x16 roof.
You guys are gonna be fine 👍🏻
How much water does it collect per year?
@@bonniefurman7476
No idea... all I know is, I have a 200L tank that fills in 1 day when the weather is bad...
I think they should be able to get around 500-800L on an average rainy day
@Eric Ferguson
They’ve got 5 of those big water tanks...
Their last rain collector 🙈 wasn’t as big and they got well over half way full...
They’ll be having baths soon
Answering Kake's question, I would name that occupation "Socially Distanced Head Scratcher." 😆😆😆
QUESTION:
What happens when it overflows?
Also, do you have filtering systems so u can drink that water?
Great watching how things are coming together so nicely. You have a great team helping you. Those gutters will certainly help in your water collection.
I’m loving the progress!! Way to go guys
Why don't you get a glassfiber mat? Like a "unburnable" barrier between the weldballs and what ever is underneath/at its side. I use it to protect the car, since I can't weld under the roof structure, because of all the wood (yes my workshop is on the second floor!)
U All R Amazing!! What Grand Gifts of Tools U were Blessed with!! Father Bless U All ever More!! Much Love to U All!!! 💝👑🌻
You guys and gal !!! Make my day !!!!
Love you too !!!! Keep up the beautiful work and the love you two put in to it !!!!!
very cool build - glad you all are getting some great tools and supplies to work with. Kaylee rocks the vid again! thx for sharing.
Guys. Stop using grinder to cut colourbond or tin!!!!!!! LYou need. Nibblers. Otherwise the heat will cause chemical reaction. (Hence rust)
They also need to wear a face shield when grinding or using the cutoff saw.
I love it 💖 Got my Lola's Farm fix today with a new video YEAH! I go back and watch older ones on other days 😃😍😍😍
So exciting to see the water collection system up and working!
Jordi, me pregunto si en Boquete llueve todo el año?
Cómo harán en época de estación seca?
Your are making huge strides toward making the workshop ready to move in. It must be fun to see it all come together!
Guys next time you have a load of cardboard use it as a weed represent in the garden or on the paths and put woodchip or compost on top. It will help kill off grass or non perennial weeds. Helps build your soil, the worms will love it and it will make keeping your beds clear of weeds much easier long term
@ 17:00 - Glad to know I'm not the only crazy person that runs out in the rain to watch the barrels fill up.
Just received my 1st package of coffee in the mail from you. It tastes amazing! Thank you!!
So happy you have the water set up! Amazing!!!!!! Love and hugs!
That is Kake's stepladder.
He never knew his real ladder.
Lol
hard to believe that i've been watching solid for one year, i totally remember those tanks going in. wow.
We finally have hot water here in Costa Rica after 3.5 years...it is incredible. However we live on the Nicoya hot coastal community...so not quite as bad as Boquete cold showers.
I love watching you guys on my 75 inch TV!
You guys have come a long way. Everything is looking good.
My friends have lived Tiny and Off Grid for 15 years. They put a Solar operated chicken coop door on a timer their hutch. The chickens know as the Sun goes drown to get their chicken booties inside. This way even if you are away the chicks are safe.
