I made new router planes! Please check them out from the description! This old one works but it's hard to change blades because the clamping part doesn't flex much so I ended up making new ones...
"i wanted to use pieces of scrap wood to be cool... but i didn't have any" lmao, dude you have such a fun sense of humor, swear to god, it's just so perfectly deadpan and unexpected
Thank you! I just didn't do enough projects to have a lot of leftovers so I literally didn't have any at the time. Now, a year after this video, I do have some leftovers but that doesn't mean I'm cool.... a sad story, no?
Firstly, well done on this video! It was very watchable, informative and entertaining. Keep it up! You’re doing it right. 🙏🏻 I must say that the direction that you went in with the overall design through to the end result is actually really impressive! It’s definitely unique, but also easy to see that it would work great even without seeing it. I can safely say that you have earned the right to pay yourself due credit. You’ve done a great job!👏 you’ve also earned yourself yet another subscriber! Kind regards from here in Australia!
Thank you, mate. It's actually embarrassing to watch my old videos by myself so I'm not sure what I said in the video but this router plane surely works for me! I also made a new version that I can interchange the base:) Hopefully, soon I can upload a project that I'm working on now!!
I like the way the handles come out to the side instead of up, like most router plane builds. I believe this would help with control. Good video, thank you.
Thank you! It just happened to be like that as I didn't have enough skills to put them up, haha! though now I'm used to this spokeshave style handles:)
A fascinating and very unique design. Haven’t seen anything like it. I’m no expert, but I think if I try and make one similar I’ll make the base a little wider. Great work you did though👍⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you compliment and I'm glad that you liked it:) This isn't perfect but I just wanted to make something different from others so this might become a hint for someone to come up with nicer thing!
Thank you! I just wanted to add a variation to how people make a router plane regardless if it's better or not because what's available to a person isn't always the same as others so:)
Awesome video, finally a beginner video where they don't go to their thousands of dollars worth of tool's. The best part is how you walk us through the process and explain everything using the tools that almost every beginner has or can get easily and affordably. I have subscribed to you channel and can't wait to watch more of your videos.👍
Thank you for the comment! I just enjoy the process of making things as well as thinking how I can make them with tools I have so I just don't need fancy tools:) Though, comparing to the time I started woodworking, now I have many tools so maybe in few years, I would be fully equipped but the problem is, I'm cheap, haha!
Nice tool build. Not bad for your first time. The next one will be even better. Remember in woodworking it's all about the experience and making it better next time.
Thank you for finding my channel and I'm glad that you enjoyed my videos! I just enjoy my new hobby, woodworking as well as communicating with nice people here!
Thank you for the comment and definitely yes! Other than basic tools(saws, hand planes and chisels), I think this tool is what I use the most! It's that convenient:) Hope you'll make it soon!
Thank you for the comment. Now that I've been using it for a year, it's one of the most used tools that I have. I'm even thinking to make an upgraded version, haha!
Thank you! I'm not sure what you meant by if I make squares though... I do square up lumbers by hand tools but I've never made a square like a combination square. If that helps...
Very good build, i think it will work very well as you have shown. I am a beginner woodworker some times i make things only to find out i could improve next i make it but thats the fun part of learning to make things, loving the videos and always looking forward to watching new ones
Yeah, it's all about learning and it's fun! and I also enjoy the comments/feedback that always give me a good vibes to continue doing this! Thank you so much:)
I think it looks really good and functional. Another well made video! I don't know if you are aware, but for super glue there exists an accelerator spray which lets it harden instantaneously, so you don't need to clamp at all. I also like to use it as a clamp itself, when gluing wood together with wood glue. You can add a few dots of super glue to one part and accelerator to the other additionally to the wood glue. Like that your parts are firmly held together while the wood glue drys but you can go on working on it. This is especially useful for parts which can't be clamped properly, like odd shapes or very small parts.
Thank you for the advice! I've never used an accelerator but I actually chose 10 sec super glue (it usually takes like a minute) for this because I needed to position it right. As for the clamping use, that's right! but I guess except for gluing up a miter joint. When I did a miter joint(just one corner glue up), 2 pieces had a good 45 degree cut on the end grain but the joint came to be about 90.5-91degrees... What happened was, the super glue helped two pieces to connect each other but the miter cut(end grain) absorbed the moisture from the wood glue and the angle got wider a little bit... There are always things to learn...
Hi YRTI: another nice video, I like the two innovations, the spokeshave handles and and the pinch are built into one piece of material. I am an older woodworker and have difficulty with my fingers I don’t use my old routor plane because I have to pinch it too hard, it has 2 round knobs, your handle allows all 8 fingers to share the work pressure. Paul Sellers has a good video about sharpening the blade simply, so it is level to the bottom of of the plane. I too have big box of band-aids! Keep up the episodes, they’re good and getting better. Cheers Jerry. From Everett Ontario Canada
Welcome back, Jerry! I just wanted to make something different from others so it might give an option to people who are about to make one and checking how others do on RUclips. Thank you for the information of sharpening the blade, too!
Hi YRTI: attached is the link to Paul Sellers episode on fine tuning the router plane. I made a simple wood holder for holding the iron for sharpening on an edge sander. It worked and easily squared the bottom to the iron........ it was sharp and sliced a lovely bevel in the wood. Using Paul’s finishing technique I was able to get a parallel edge, hone it and get nice tenons and housing joints. I still used the holder, but more as a helper to get a grip on the little iron. Cheers Jerry Https://m.ruclips.net/video/iXREj_lXFCE/видео.html
Nice work, I would be curious to see how you like those router plane irons as you use it more. I would think the shank being wider than the cutter so close to the cutter edge might be annoying for anything deeper, but I suppose it all depends on how you use it. I've only used my router planes a few times where I had to have the iron a long way down in to a groove or something.
Thank you for the comment! Yes, it can be annoying but for the narrow profile blades that I wanted (6mm & 3mm), even Veritas/Lie-Nielsen blades are just like that shape(shank being wider than the cutter) so I assume that's what it is... I guess I'll worry about it when I can handle thicker wood skill-wise:)
@@YRTi yeah, same design, just that the narrower part is a little taller before it gets to the wider shank is all. I rarely work anything that's that far down anyway, so it's possible you never run in to it too lol. Fair chance anything that deep will also be as wide as the cutter shank too

Dude that looks beautiful!!!
Thank you:)
It's looks amazing you shouldn't be so hard on yourself. Great effort 👌
Thank you so much! This actually work well and I used them for like 2years until I made new ones:)
Thank you for sharing your experiences. Encouraging for me to try new techniques
Thank you for the comment! Trying new things is always fun! ah maybe sometimes a little bit not fun, but it’s all good:)
GREAT JOB FRIEND!!! I liked and subscribed
Thank you, my friend! As you see, I'm still at a beginner level but hope you enjoy my channel!
Excelente diseño. Gracias por compartir el video. Saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷 😊
Gracias, my friend:)

Thank you, I just made a new version of the router, too😎
Very cool design.
Thank you😎
Router plane Is fine. Especially if it serves you well. Thanks. God bless.
Thank you! Sadly, it didn’t go as I wanted but it works and it’s one of my favorite tools now:)
Hey cool video glad I found your channel
I'm happy to hear that! Thank you so much:)

The clamping thing was clever, I haven’t seen someone take that approach before.

I am learning a lot from you and inspired to get started in woodworking
Thank you for the comment and wow! It's nice to hear I have +1 woodworking fellow:) I hope you enjoy it, too!
Beautiful!
Thank you! It's at least functional for me:)
Great video
Thank you:)

Thank you! I’m happy nice people like you left a comment that gives me motivation to do more projects and experience more:)
Your thumb screw set up looks really tricky, but I totally love how technical it looks. Thanks.
Thank you. If only the clamp opened a little wider... My plan to go with simplicity always generates complexity ironically:(
Excellent build! 👍🏴🇬🇧
Thank you! Your name is easy to remember:)
First time I see your channel, Congratulations on 500 subscribers, many good videos. Hello from Windsor, Ont. Good Luck
Thank you for finding my channel and I'm glad that you enjoyed my videos! I just enjoy my new hobby, woodworking as well as communicating with nice people here!
Nice! I keep thinking I should make one of these and then talking myself out of it. Guess I should just take the plunge, huh?

Cool build. Very original design. Looks like it works well.
Oh, here! Yes, it works fine to me! So are you checking all my videos a little by little? Thank you:)
@@YRTi , I've been enjoying them. Keep up the good work.
Excellent work. I think I may give it a go.
Thank you! A router plane is a very versatile tool:)
Great video [and I love your sense of humour!]
Thank you! I'm glad that you enjoyed it:)
Nice planing board. You have inspired me to make one for myself.
Hi, Bob! Thank you for the comment! Hope you enjoy making it:)
Congrats from Brazil. It's a beautyfull and funcitional router
Thank you! I use this router ever since I made and I love using it:)
Well done 👏
Thank you:)
Smart design, well done. Remember that a router plane is only meant to do finishing cuts. Rough/bulk removal is best done with a chisel.
Thank you for the compliment and advice! I would use chisels for sure and I was actually thinking to make a rabbet plane sometime!!
Nice work. Keep at i,t you are very skilled.
Thank you! I'll keep trying my best:)
Awesome...
Thank you!
Neat looking plane, nicely done sir, first time thru on any build is bound to show problems, but still it came out nice. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for the comment. Now that I've been using it for a year, it's one of the most used tools that I have. I'm even thinking to make an upgraded version, haha!
