I love the almost machine-like labyrinthian sound of things moving in the background, it really added a lot to making you feel like such a small presence in this dauntingly massive abyss.
Truly sounds like abandoned dying steampunk machinery muffled by moss and vegetation from neglect. Really screams empty ruins of an ancient civilization of advanced technology
Easily one of my favorite songs from the game. The ancient city had such an interesting design and history to me, and this music first coming in just made me wonder about all of its mysteries.
This track has such a mix of emotions. Compared to much of the unsettling or even downright oppressive music you'd been subjected to up until this point, the echoing, melancholic guitar in the background can evoke a sense of mystery or sadness. Yet the deep, bass-heavy rumbling that is always present does not relieve you from the tension you've been holding since you first entered the dungeon.
I can't help but feel that this is probably the soundtrack that sticked with me the most, and that's probably just because it is so distinct from the rest. It still has that eerie, horror aspect that most of the soundtracks have- but that guitar in the background involves a feeling of sadness and loss; which perfectly encapsulates the area it can be heard in, an empty former shell of what used to be an ancient and whimsical civilization, now rendered into ruins which are inhabited by grotesque beings that roam around endlessly in an almost parassitic way. The first time i heard this i felt immense guilt and grief over a place i barely knew about, just this soundtrack alone can tell a story. It's honestly refreshing to hear an actual fully fleshed out ost once in a while, instead of the usual ambience noises you hear in most parts of the game.
When i first heard this song and the knocking started i got goosebumps: at this point any mistake any wrong step any minor flaw in resolve can send me back to that mocking sound in the main menu. It is such a good way of letting the player know that where we started is far away but just around the corner at the same time.
There's a really small chance that you just came up with this comment but this is word for word what super eyepatch wolf said in his video about the game.
I can feel bags start to form under my eyes when I listen to this for too long. Genuinely didn’t know how that exhaustion could ever be embodied by a song, up until now.
This is the most EOAOT soundtrack I have heard. You hear the knocking from the main menu, you hear what sounds like the theme of the city very quiet and somber overpowered by the vastness of this once prosperous city ruled by the new gods. This song has a feeling of former glory long since past like you are in city that’s in a state of decay and ruin, as alien to you as it was in the past. It’s also worth noting the piano becomes more quiet from being somber giving way to dripping water and the vast ambience.

it's a reupload of the OST, so I'm not exactly expecting people to jump into these videos. I just released these tracks individually now because there has been select few who requested that.
Now that I think about it, it reminds me a little bit of a specific part of _Silent Hill 2_ (to which I'm sure Mirro owes quite a bit of his inspiration to - not just 2, the whole mainline series from 1-4). It's one of the cellblocks deep in the prison-beneath-the-museum. There's an invisible monster in one of cells (we know it's invisible and not disembodied because a. you can kill it [must be projectile/gun], and b. shooting it while in a third-person camera mode allows you to see the outline of it in blood). All it does is pace its cell back and forth, back and forth, repeating "ritual" (in a... clearly Japanese accent. Yeah, I don't think they thought that particular one through). _Step... step... step..._ *"...RITUAL..."* _Step... step... step..._ What I'm getting at is that the thudding of those footsteps had very evenly-paced pauses. The "knocking" in the _Fear & Hunger_ series has always reminded me more of the plodding, heavy footsteps of an unknowably immense being... maybe even... a god?
There isn’t a source, it’s just a much more distant version of the “knocking” sound in the main menu, to set into the player how deep they are in the dungeon, and how one mistake and send them to the very beginning.
I still can't comprehend how genius it was to include that knocking noise to signify how deep you are into this nightmare.
Its in the menu screen so that makes it worse especially with the eye STARING AT YOU ANGRILY MIGHT I ADD

100% I love the soundtrack of this game. It’s one of the most important thing’s especially in a horror game and miru perfected it

I love this game so much. The atmosphere is unmatched.
I really find that electric guitar(?) in the background very soothing.
More like a synth, way too soft to be a normal guitar (So a synthesized guitar and an acoustic one ar that).
@@GrimTzu so, an electric one
Reminds me of an out of tune accoustic string instrument I'd play

When i first played the game and arrived at the tomb of the ancient gods I was soooooo tense, and the chant kicks in... It did not help.

Hearing this while trying to sleep, let me feel, like i am in a paused menu and thinking about my next lifechoice
You tread in the grounds of the gods now. Make sure to tread lightly, lest they hear you coming
Thanks for uploading

this ost always gave me Lyendell sewers vibes from elden ring
This one gave me Higurashi vibes, like, I think the theme was called "Depressive Paranoia"? Just a little tiny bit of the similar mood.
You're scared when anything can happen but you're also scared when you're an empty location. That's F&H
This is my favorite track in game.
This has a seriously creepy atmosphere

Interesting...
I feel like this track is dedicated to the Tommyknockers. Feels like Knocking on the support beams.

Out of curiosity what is the source of the knocking sound? Or is it better to not know since that just adds to the sound
There isn’t a source, it’s just a much more distant version of the “knocking” sound in the main menu, to set into the player how deep they are in the dungeon, and how one mistake and send them to the very beginning.
It's the sound of heart beat(Fear) and a stomach growling immediately after it(hunger). You can hear it in the main menu
I read somewhere that this is what an echochardiogram sounds like? Not sure, never heard one of those myself
The guitar in this track kind of reminds me of Hurrian hymn no.6 somehow
Reminds me of spec ops the line weirdly
Slowly falling into madness while moving through the ruins of a once magnificent city? Yea makes sense
Unfortunately that little sound effect played every few seconds ruins the song. The song is really good and memorizing besides that
Bro what? That's what makes the song good to like, everyone else
