    Me: Hey Geoff, what range are you most comfortable in?
    Geoff: Yes.

    Geoff is a vocal acrobat, I swear. From high-high-high to the deepest depths in a finger-snap. I can't imagine how many hours of intense training he must put in to make it sound that effortless. I love watching your reactions to him -- it's just a delight all the way!

    Geoff did this in the perfect slow blues rhythm for this song. His range is just amazing as he vocalizes the pain that the lyrics try and portray. Nicely done.

    Not only can he flip a song as you said but he breathes new life into them. Plus his acting skills keep getting better also. Showing his heartbreak in his body language as well as in his voice.

    He sings three octaves in this. Lowest chest note was G1 and highest was either G4 or I think there may have been an A4 in there too. He is a freak of nature man!

    Geoffs arrangement of this is powerfully evocative and with his angst ridden acting, suits the lyrics more I think. With the haunting low notes and the plaintive high notes he brought all the feels! Really enjoyed the reaction, thanks! 🙂👍

    I know that the original is considered a classic, and it always will be don't get me wrong but this cover actually matches the intensity and the Pain of the lyrics down to the very last note.... He hammered this one in a matter of seconds when he got started

  • @nightthornkvala94132

    I think of Geoff and Tim as "mostly-bass," just like I think of Adam Chance, who was the bass singer in his previous group, as "mostly baritone." And when you mentioned Supernatural I started looking for Dean to come crashing through the door. With Sam just behind him, of course.

  • @waltermcgarvin8001

    I wish the Bass guys would form a group. Imagine Geoff, Tim, Avi, and a few others getting together on songs like this! Geoff is AMAZING at arranging songs for his range! It would really help let them all show off their range. Something like Genesis was, they come together to make an album then go back to their groups or do solo stuff.

    He sings this song the way it was meant to be sung. It's a deep dark song and should be soul wrenching in melody. The original missed that. I always felt a disconnect between the lyrics and melody with the original even though I like the original

    He ranges 2 1/2 octaves in this song. That's really good, but I've heard he can go 3. I think 2 is the average for most people.

    • @janetdw
      @janetdw 2 года назад +2

      I thinking that in Oogie boogie somebody who knows this stuff said it was over three octaves. Again this is hearsay because I’m not musically trained, but it is pretty phenomenal from his I’m the Oogie boogieman down to that subharmonic man at the end that I find it hard to believe it’s only two octaves.

    The reason Geoff calls himself a Bass singer is because that's the category he falls into as a singer... Bass, baritone, tenor, alto, mezzo, soprano. Doesn't mean one can't sing outside their range to a degree. You should check out Dimash if you want range. I don't even think they can classify him.
