I didn't realize you hadn't seen Sixteen Tons, Blackbird or High and Dry yet! They are absolutely musts to experience Geoff's full range and creativity.
Nobody can understand Geoff Castellucci. 😂. All we can do is sit and enjoy, with our jaws on the floor. It's fun to watch you appreciate Geoff’s musical genius.
I love the interplay between Geoff and Tim in Voice Play ' s Sing. It's too cute. If you haven't seen it, you should give it a watch... and turn on the captions, cause there's a bunch of facts on each singer. So good.
@@AndieO I have seen that one, if you meant that for me! Lol. I also love how they are in that video! Isn't that the one they label Tim "show off"? 😂. I really love how so many of the people/groups from The Sing Off came out being good friends. Definitely a treat for us when there are collaborations!
We got the answer in The Little Mermaid where, as Ursula, he steals voices from other people. :) He's his own backing group, a one man acapella group - almost. Great reaction.
I grew up with this song (yeah I'm old) and it was the first thing I learnt on guitar. When I heard Geoff had done this, for the first time I was sceptical. Wow was I proved wrong - I LOVE this and it's my favourite version of the song now too. Great reaction again - I always look forward to yours!
Thank you so much for this video. This led me to looking up more of Geoffs videos and then going on to discover VoicePlay. What an incredibly talented group!
He's been actively working to extend his range and it's so impressive. Slightly deeper subharmonics, but noticeably stronger high notes. Really dedicated to making the most of his gift.
So, one of the things Geoff does to reach that low is subharmonics. He has a couple of tutorial videos on his channel where he gets into some of how he does those super low notes. Very informative and useful techniques even for those of us up here in the contralto range. :) He does record himself multiple times and then compile those separate recordings together for his solo pieces in order to get the kind of depth you would normally get from multiple singers. Each layer is him - he just recorded each layer separately is all. I never get tired of listening to this man sing. Never! LOL His voice is honey wrapped in velvet, and I love it. If you want a really good example of the higher end of his range, check out Voiceplay's "If I Were A Rich Man/Woman" cover. They had Ashley Serena on as a guest artist for that one, and just... wow. It's such a cool piece, and a totally different feel from this one. :)
Watching Geoff do anything: you better 😏 Hahahaha he’s an impressive one Love your reactions! I was cackling when you said “I’ll knock everything off this set” 😂😂😂 yesssss
I agree, this is the best version of this song in my opinion as well and I love this song so much. Absolutely amazing. Geoff has some crazy range... 5 octaves is insane. Great reaction! And great singing too.
Yesssss! I was looking forward to this one from you. 😂🔥 I KNEW there’d be a lot of WTF moments. Same here, my friend! He is so talented and his production on these videos is epic. He can do no wrong in my opinion. 😍 GREAT reaction from YOU, as always! Keep em coming! Glad to be subbed!
GREAT REACTION! Btw.. Did you see that VoicePlay just posted a new video? It’s a cover of Hoist The Colours and Geoff goes deeeeep of course. And omg the show they put on...the lighting, the harmonies...epicness!
What’s not to understand? Geoff is an amazing musical genius. His arrangements are incredible, and his ridiculous range, allows him to go where no one has gone before. Get it? He is The Next Generation, lol.
You should look at some of the videos on Geoff's RUclips channel on techniques to sing lower. You and I have seem to have similar low notes (F2, E2?) but I practised some of the techniques and got to a C2 or so.
Funny story: I did the "how does he do that" imitation thing at one of his deep basement-rattlers (I'm soprano) and gave myself a tongue cramp down to my collarbones. Also, I appreciate your approach to reacting, I love your blend of emotion and analysis
I enjoy listening to your doing Geoff's runs and riffs. You definitely do better than most. You don't have the bottom range but you're good. Look up Geoff's video on How to Sing Low. For a fun one, react to The Monster Mash.
There are so many videos that show the full range Geoff has but as for the lows. Voiceplay: The Little Mermaid. Geoff's Blackbird. Voiceplay: My Mother Told Me. And the list could go on.
Not to get a reaction, but I think you might want to check out a couple versions of this song I just found on YT. Not a video, just the audio of Jeremy Renner singing this song. Yet, Hawkeye himself. He sounded okay. But the video by The Dead South sounded pretty damn good. I like their sound.
This song is far older than the Animals version. They just had the most commercial version. it also happens to be the first record I ever purchased and played with the arm up (on my sisters Dansette ) till I knew the words. It was also covered later by a group called Frijid Pink (I Think) and was not a bad version, but more rock than blues.
The history of this song is worth looking into. The Animals were not the original singers. It's a lot older than that. Originally about a female. Watch the interview with Eric Burdon.
Please watch Tomi P and Casper Fox "Mary Did You Know". You will lose your mind brother. Geoff is always a favorite, but these 2 guys will leave light headed.
It is indeed a very good cover of House of the Rising Sun, if you wanna hear another good cover of this song you should see Danie Geimer's X Factor USA audition of this song. A totally different approach to it, and hella awesome as well.
I love Peter's version as well! He gets into the lower register a bit which is fun to hear. 🙂. Geoff's is great and Peter's is great as well! Both crazy talented too.
OMG!!! You should react to JM Yosures's Version of the song on "Tawag ng Tanghalan"-a Singing Contest in the Philippines.ITS A ROLLER COASTER OF DIFFERENT GENRE IN ONE SONG!!!HE IS AMAZING!!!
I've watched several videos now and for the love of God y'all "quit playin' with him". Seems to be your go-to reaction phrase. Careful not to wear it out.
16 Tons is an excellent cover, but not as musically challenging as how he sings this song. The song is actually an old folk tune and has slight to serious variations, some sung by women when the Rising Sun is a whorehouse. In others, it's a bar or a gambling den, or all three at the same time.
Anyone else think he takes the song back to the old English ballad when the guitars come in? It seems to shift into a "cautionary tale" type song, oh like the one that tells the listener not to kill her sister in the river because someone is going to make her bones and hair into a harp which will rat her out when played in the murdering sister's presence? One of the supposed root songs of "The House of the Rising Sun" is "Maddy Groves" where the lesson is not to get caught in bed with the wife of the boss. (It ended badly for Maddy). While the current melody doesn't seem similar to "Maddy Groves" it might have been closer in older versions.
Geoff is insanely talented, but sometimes his massive bass drops feel forced into places that they don't need to be. They're an impressive accomplishment, but in my personal opinion, they start losing their impact and effect when they're used too often. Again, not taking away from his vocal abilities. Just my opinion. Great reaction as usual! ❤
The tough thing is that his wider audience clearly loves the extremes of his range (I do too), and I think Geoff's an entertainer at heart at least as much as he's a musician. Those drops aren't going to be to everyone's taste, but the views and likes on his videos sort of speak for themselves - he doesn't really have a reason to change his style. I thought the drops were done really well in this one, personally - the Eb1, for instance, was offset by the striking match sound rather than completely isolated. He also could have ended on a subharmonic and didn't. I really do get what you're saying, but I think you're going to have to brace to keep hearing the extremes if you're going to listen to Geoff as that's what most of his audience seems to want from him. Sorry for the diatribe; just saw a few comments like this today and this is the first time I decided to respond, lucky you ;)
@@maeco7 No problem! I don't dislike his music and I'm a sucker for a good bass drop too. I just feel sometimes it's over utilized. Kind of like the song that gets played on the radio too often. You can still like the song, but it loses some of its appeal.
I didn't realize you hadn't seen Sixteen Tons, Blackbird or High and Dry yet! They are absolutely musts to experience Geoff's full range and creativity.
Follow up with "My Mother Told Me," "Monster Mash," and "Friends on the Other Side" (his base guitar is soooo good).
Nobody can understand Geoff Castellucci. 😂. All we can do is sit and enjoy, with our jaws on the floor. It's fun to watch you appreciate Geoff’s musical genius.
Yep, Geoff has a 5 octave range. So does Tim from Home Free. They're both vocally crazy!
I love the interplay between Geoff and Tim in Voice Play ' s Sing. It's too cute. If you haven't seen it, you should give it a watch... and turn on the captions, cause there's a bunch of facts on each singer. So good.

this man could do with his voice what he fucking want!
Yeah guys like him I like to call human subwoofers
Loved your reaction, thanks! YES, do 16 Tons. You're going to love it!
We got the answer in The Little Mermaid where, as Ursula, he steals voices from other people. :) He's his own backing group, a one man acapella group - almost. Great reaction.
Agreed. I've been hearing this song for all of my 47 years by different people, and this is hands down my favorite ever.
I love how completely his voice range snd timbre switched on us!
Thank you so much for this video. This led me to looking up more of Geoffs videos and then going on to discover VoicePlay. What an incredibly talented group!
Blackbird is amazing.
I love to see reactors showing their support for the musicians by actively liking and commenting on their work! Way to show people how it's done!
He's been actively working to extend his range and it's so impressive. Slightly deeper subharmonics, but noticeably stronger high notes. Really dedicated to making the most of his gift.
I love how you show yourself type in comments during your reactions! GEOFF is insane!
Haha right tho
Love watching you react. You get all those great moments that I enjoy, too. Thanks again
haha your altoid shake sent me right into a commercial.
and yes, it's not fair! Damn those rangy bassists!
Lmao
You have to do sixteen tons! It's amazing - you're going to love love love it,!

Geoff's voice is outrageous.
Love to see your reactions to Geoff. I already loved the song , I think he made it better.
Awe I just luv it when you sing. Ya and I like Geof too. ❤ That was very cool.
Thank you for your reaction! It's awesome

Nice singing voice sir!! I'm impressed!!
I look forward to your pauses! I always want to hear what you are thinking, even though I can see it in your reaction first
🙏
I absolutely love your reactions 😍 xx
Love this version of this song. I would love for him and Tim collaborate on a song.
You got to this one quick!
Yeah lol

Totally agreed with you on the version of this song. Just love Geoff and all his clones. Love wht he does.

Every voice type has its strength and weaknesses I’m jealous of sopranos because how high they can go I have a 4 octave range G1 to G4
This is AWESOME 👌
Even as a fellow Bass, I'm struggling to get my head around just how he can resonate down there...Dang...
I enjoy listening to your doing Geoff's runs and riffs. You definitely do better than most. You don't have the bottom range but you're good. Look up Geoff's video on How to Sing Low. For a fun one, react to The Monster Mash.
Sixteen tons and Saddle Up next please😁
Geoff is a dragon slaying genetic marvel lol there is not a range he can't sing lol
I think he *is* a dragon.

he also did ghost riders in the sky.
Tim and Geoff need to get together and do some of these covers. That would be epic
Five Finger Death Punch does a cover of this song but changes New Orleans to Las Vegas (that's where theyre from) but its still amazing
great vid
There is an obscure TOTO cover of this that is crazy good.
Just say it, Geoff, Tim and Avi are aliens from the planet F1

One of the very best versions is the of the old folk/blues singer Odetta
its like waching micheal jorden and going to the cort, u cant do it but u still try, and thats a good thing.
The history of this song is worth looking into. The Animals were not the original singers. It's a lot older than that. Originally about a female. Watch the interview with Eric Burdon.
Oh really? Interesting
Need to react to Geoff's sixteen tons and big John 🙏
Its called the Raising Sun, its been the ruin of many poor boys, and God i know I'm one.
I think you need to react to VoicePlay vs Home Free doing Survivor. Zombies vs Hillbillies, it's hilarious
Please watch Tomi P and Casper Fox "Mary Did You Know". You will lose your mind brother. Geoff is always a favorite, but these 2 guys will leave light headed.
I just love you. What is your music background?
You need to list to him sing high and dry
You trying to hurt yourself with bass tonight? 🤣👏
Have you reacted to his cover of "The Bare Necessities" from The Jungle Book? You will love it!
It is indeed a very good cover of House of the Rising Sun, if you wanna hear another good cover of this song you should see Danie Geimer's X Factor USA audition of this song. A totally different approach to it, and hella awesome as well.
4:46 that’s a Subharmonic G#1
When you have the range to sing ALL OF THE PARTS, why not sing with yourself? 😏😁
I agree
Check out Peter hollens version of this it was done in one take
I love Peter's version as well! He gets into the lower register a bit which is fun to hear. 🙂. Geoff's is great and Peter's is great as well! Both crazy talented too.
like dimahs but in the other direction xD
they meet in the middle :P
I kinda think of him like the bass version of Dimash. Both super smooth with mad ranges but one hits crazy high notes and the other crazy low.
You should react to his Bkacbird and Sixteen Tons
OMG!!!
You should react to JM Yosures's Version of the song on "Tawag ng Tanghalan"-a Singing Contest in the Philippines.ITS A ROLLER COASTER OF DIFFERENT GENRE IN ONE SONG!!!HE IS AMAZING!!!
👏👏👏👏👍👍💖💖💖💖🔥🔥🔥🔥
Do what you wanna do dont listen to the haters saying dont pause cause I like it when you pause it lol😀
Thank you bro
Geoff is amazing......but I'm a Homefry (Tim) at heart!!
5.5 octaves. Top Edges of 0 to 5s.
Five Finger Death Punch version!!!
Your obvious annoyance at his abilities is amusing...
It is so funny to see someone else doing what I do...
Watch his video on how to sing low. Its a great short instructional video. He explains who anyone can sing low.
What the actual WHAT is that note????
I've watched several videos now and for the love of God y'all "quit playin' with him". Seems to be your go-to reaction phrase. Careful not to wear it out.
Jeoff not is human, bro.

That is not soprano that is high tenor....
Geoff just has the fattest chest bass voice. Its so unfair hahaha.
This is a beautiful cover, but, until you hear The Blind Boys of Alabama sing Amazing Grace/House of Rising Sun, you have not experienced this song...
Where is the desperation and emotion of the original?
