Retired GM tech here. These videos healed my soul.Looking again to find stuff to fix after vowing never to look at a tool again. Thanks Taryl.
Thanks for posting another how to fix video.
I cant tell you how many times I've come across a problem with a mower and then find the solution posted by you .
I really appreciate it😁
Weird. I just realized this EXACT problem last week on my zero turn. Actually it had been having starting issues this whole season. Now I just start it standing behind it and flip it back with my hand before getting on. Starts like new when choke isnt sticking! Now I know how to fix it right! Thanks Taryl! Thers your dinner!
Did you see the crazy look in that grass pusher's eyes? OMG, my children are screaming and crying just from looking at him. Thank goodness you got him off the streets before another lawn could be violated. God bless you Lawn Mower Detractives !!!
You are so right Taryl !!
Maintenance is KING.
I just cut my 2 acres with my 22 year old JD GT225.
Last week I serviced him, checked belts, cleaned deck, greased, and washed and waxed.
I am a service fanatic. He still runs like a TOP !
People always ask me when I am out on John.."Hey, ya get a new tractor?"
NOPE
You are the man Taryl, thanx for always making me smile !!
Easy for others to say. Tell them they can deliver you a new one anytime.
Taryl is the older brother we all wish we had!👍
Same here, ...except I'm a year or 2 older than him.
Thanks a million for the video on the magnets in the flywheel on my Kohler 16.5 . The repair shop said I needed a new flywheel. Thanks to you I fixed it myself with a $7 tube of JB weld. Runs great!!
You saved me a ton of money. I'm on fixed income, so thanks man!!!
I've used gorilla glue to fix the magnet's on a flywheel before and JB weld does pretty good too. I had the glue mine back on last week
That #2 pencil makes great dry graphite lubricant for sanded plastic shafts!
Inherited a FR691 with 780hrs...neglected...in process of tuning it up! Intake dirty and caked...thanks for showing these great entertaining videos! New subscriber.
Thank goodness for the Lawnmower Detectives! I am so glad to see them again.
Makes us backyard mechanics feel good. You could hear, see (chuff chuff) choke was on. Love the intro and the fix. It's more time than money. So do what you can. Fun stuff.
Thank you brother your blood is worth bottling...your advice and guidance is invaluable.
Congratulations from Aotearoa New Zealand.

Good to see Donny back in the rotation!
Thanks guys, its always what i look forward to on a Sunday. As always, a great skit...and we all learn something from the "how to" part of the videos. Many thanks From a patriot in the UK
I’ve wondered recently where the dude that was riding the dixie chopper has been in the videos 😂.Love the skits fellas!
I had the exact same prob w/FR691V...choke shaft absolutely stuck...nothing I could do would free it up....new carb works great!!!!
Lawn mower detectives. This is one of the funniest skits to date! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Made my day Thank You!
quick and easy to follow instructions. Thankyou Sir.
Great tip, detective! Enjoyed watching, all the best for your work! Thanks.
Good, easy fix. Love the high pitch comments.
My Scrub Cadet came from a dealer. Totally different quality. 2554. 15 years old. Going great. Kohler Command engine. Choke still works perfectly.
Love your how to vids and your sketches, please keep em coming!
Nice easy fix...thanks for posting!
Great episode of the Lawn Mower Detectives. Great video fix. Thanks for sharing.
When taryl said this q tip is still good, I will use it to clean my ears I thought I wood die laughing.
Thanks for your funny and informative help Taryl. My Bobcat zero turn has just developed these exact symptoms. Now I know how to fix it Woo Ho.
I always learn something whille watching 'Lawn Mower Detectives'. The Best Detective show EVER!
Thanks for the time you put in the videos, ...like the sound effects (Ex. Boing, Ar Ar Ar) you always put in the videos.
I always enjoy your videos Guys.
OMG I've had that exact problem on my JD x300 with *almost* the same engine. You're the best Taryl!
another great lesson from the master from Podunk! Thank you Taryl!
You are awesome brother. I refuse to go to the shop again to get the run around. I save more than 600 dollars using your videos...... thank you
good on you for promoting proper maintenance. it's a real problem on equipment!
Yep they seem to think warranty will cover stupidO
Hey Terry and Friends
This video was very helpful!
Thank you!
I ran my Gravely Z60 out of Gas again cutting at dusk. Fueled the tank but she wouldn't go and I could smell fuel so I let her stand in. the yard overnight to think about what she'd done. Still refused to go the next afternoon and Hydrolocked. After pulling the plugs she spit fuel five feet out each hole and most of my Left leg. Thanks Honey! I love you too!
Checked spark! Lotsa spark both jugs. Dried her out with a flame job and heated the plugs! No Joy! And now she was pouring fuel out the exhaust. The in doubt! Get the RUclips out! Checked several videos but yer's was the choice with the "Runs when Vent tube pulled out of tank and plugged section cut off". I just pulled the fitting off the return line and also pulled the elbow off the supply line before the pump. That I figured would allow her to clear her jugs of all that unburnt fuel. Then let her spin! Couple seconds and she started to cough and barked to life for the first time in 24Hrs. Pulsed fuel to her by reconnecting and disconnecting the supply line until she kept running and then moved her into the shoot reconnect the Vent hose from the carb to the fuel tank. All is back to normal. She's a good running machine and as I know there's nothing really wrong, it ticks me off when she won't go. But I hope I have learned my lesson to keep her above a quarter Full for fuel and never have to have an issue. Seems there is a possibility to cause a vaporizer lock in the vent line when riunning her hot and then when the fuel stops the vaporized remaining fuel causes the iffy.
Just don't let it run out of fuel and save yourself a bunch of hassles.
Hope you company gets that Dental plan they've been promising!
Best!
Pecker
Another great video thank you for sharing your knowledge
good video. humor and knowledge always go together.
The problem is that the plastic was not formulated for long-term.Use with exposure to heat and chemicals. Most likely the plastic is breaking down and expanding causing the choke to stick. Darryl is absolutely right, As usual, experience is the best teacher. Thanks for a great job and sharing your practical and professional expertise with us novices... 👍👍👍
Always love your videos. Not much to do now after having hip replacement surgery Friday
I met Tary and Jr at threshermans. It made my year. They also signed my Lawnmower man hat.
Thanks always brings me a good laugh and learn something new. Great job.
I find Q-tips to be invaluable for a variety of uses around small engine repair !
I use them all the time my wife gets so mad so I end up buying a package for me and a package for her
Have you seen the pack of different sized swabs Harbor Freight is selling now? Theres a size
for all applications in the shop, really handy. 👍
@@Big_Johns That would be ideal !!
@@glenmiller7294 I love them brother 👍🏼
They work great for cleaning inlet needle seats
Very cool video here Taryl! Who knew that one had to maintain and clean stuff on their mower?!?! Sanding that PLASTIC choke shaft is a great fix to know! Not by the book for sure - but 100% great fix!!! Thanks for this - very edumacational! Love you guys!
Had this same issue on my scrub cadet with a Kohler 7000. On the kohler they use a foam piece like a washer around the choke shaft (presumably to keep out dirt). On mine it disintegrated and worked it's way into the shaft hole which made it bind up. Pretty much the same fix. Cheers!
I just had other one do that and customer thinks he caused it, had to show him what happened lolol
You need a 10mm to fix it? Oh damn, guess I'll have to just buy a new mower
Taryl fixed my divorce settlement
Thank you for the Great Great video!!!!
I Love it, I learned something New!!!
Nice video guys, I had to laugh when you found your perp hiding under the kiddie pool, I
remember the COPS episode years ago where some scally-wags were found the same way.
Keep up the great work Taryl and Crew, we appreciate you. 🙂👍
bad boys bad boys what ya gonna do lol reminds me of my name is earl series how u doing little john
LoL.... doing good Ronald, hope you are too bud. 👍
another excellent video Taryl thank you
Lawn mover detectives. I’d watch this show all the time.
One tip, if you save gallon milk or water jugs, you can cut the bottom off and fill it with hot soapy water and use that to dunk the parts in to clean them. Then you don't have to have the water running the whole time.
Your'e pretty clever and entertaining too. I have learnt a lot of handy tips from you that help me in my little repair shop. Rick from Australia.
Thanks for the information to save me money.
Entertaining maintaining! Funny yet informative. Great work!! I'll be back!
Good video I've repaired a good bit of these with the same issue what I've started doing to help it come back down is replacing shaft and bending the metal tab where the bottom part of spring hooks to over and hooking the spring to choke shift arm and seems to work pretty good
Thank you for the video
Best ever fix it channel
I appreciate your show.
You guys are flipping hilarious!!!
How about a valve adjustment video on those Kawasaki engines? Thanks!
Come on guys. You took the rock-paper-scissors to get tasered out of the intro. I loved that part.
Very good and informative video. Thanks for posting, three cheers for Taryl.
33 beer!
Great tip!
Awesome video! Thank You So Very Much for the information in this video. :)
Great info. I got a new Kamasaki so this will come in handy later.
I fix and flip a lot of mowers. I only take Cub Cadeads if I get them for FREE. Always a pain in the posterior to work on.
I agree I avoid them if I can plus I change more for labor 😊
For sure the best detectives in podunk county 🕵️♂️
Cool 😎 video. Thanks 😊
Another fine collar by my Detective brothers! Keep up the great work and I look forward to working a case with you all sometime.....lol
Fricking Hilarious opening!
Love the humor, I went to the end to see it before watching the rest. So... don't hold back... how do you really feel about the Cub Cadet? That one looks like it spends more time blowing dirt around than cutting grass.
Looks like Kawasaki saved another nickle over a metal choke shaft by using a plastic one, very frustrating !!!! for the mechanic. I wish they wouldn't use plastic this and that in engines, it = many headaches. Great video Taryl A+
Thanks I Learn something today
can you please do a 17.5 briggs total rebuild video. your the only one i trust to show the correct way to rebuild. i have one the when you start it. oil flows through the carb like a river
Worked for a cub dealer for almost 10 years. It was a pretty common thing to see. I'd say once a month or so. Also looks about like every cub I ever saw. Filters plugged mildew all over
We have alot of that Kentucky Blue grass up here in Michigan, good chit man!...
Thanks I wondered about this
Thank you
I love that "High Nitrogen" grass and it's legal just about everywhere.
Learned something there Detective Dactyl ! Mucho grabass !
Good job on the tractor good video
Keep the air filter changed out and check it before you mow, also keep extra ones at the house 😊
"What a piece of garbage" LOL, we have a Craftsman pyt 9000 which is a rebadged scrub cadet and I think the same thing every time I work on it.
Taryl's cat might like that grass. She'd probably prefer catnip though.
Funny stuff you guys your only getting better the more you do
I work on some friends mowers and I swear I have to spend a half hour cleaning just to see what brand of mower they are. They are that filthy and well taken care of. Drives me crazy...lol
I think you need to take over television programming. It would be a big upgrade!
Taryl you are the God of grass rats.
NOW THAT'S WHAT THIS SHOW MAKES US HAVE FUN WATCHING & AND ENJOYING LEARNING IN POSTIVE WAY. WILL THE LAWNMOWER HOSPITAL BE MAKING 911 CALLS 📞 WITH THE AMBULANCE Any time soon & will Carl ( swing blade) make a guest appearance to share some input on trouble shooting lawnmower & blades sharpening, which he specializes.
I thought you were gonna go straight to the FBI about those bulbs. Great vid man.
Best skit ever!!
New Lawn Mower Detectives coming this Sunday @ 9 am central! 🎉
I love this
Another gripping episode of LAWN ORDER, er, I mean Lawn Mower Detectives!
Good to see Donnie back with you guys.
I have a question used to apart from a different brand wouldn't fit on another brand but I had a Honda engine and I had a Briggs & Stratton the Briggs & Stratton was blowed up so I took the carburetor and put on the Honda and it worked great
Just had a Cub Cadet 1050 come in last week running poorly, turns out mice chewed the coil on one side and it was only running on 1 cylinder. I'll have to remember this choke issue, thanks for posting! And yes, I also struggled getting those headlight bulbs out.
Fluffy the mouse causes thousands of dollars in repairs on mowers and 4 wheelers yearly. Why do they not care to get rid of mice? I turn many jobs away because Fluffy has destroyed the whole wiring harness.
You can use Elvis Costello's " Watching the Detectives " song..it's awesome too... good job keeping that perp off the Grass!!
love ya brother. can't get enough of you and your crew. Wish I worked for ya. You guys have best job that I can think of. Course I could be totally wrong, you just maken it look easy. That just made think, you should do a true behind the scenes and or cutting room floor episode/s if you so pleased. Bet it would get many watchers, just a thought. I bet you've already had requests for such. Fire it up, FFire it up! FFire It up! FFFire It Up !!
I don't know why some people let the maintenance on their mowers go like that. I have a john deere d130 that's 8 years old and still looks brand new.
I guess the are not smart as you that the way the pay me to do it lol
Some people just can’t be bothered
Brilliant video thank u ❤️😄😄😄😄😄😄😄👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hey Everything seems to be heading towards plastic made. That’s a clean Dixie Chopper.
I think he’s good that’s way under an once of nitro. LOL. Another excellent video. I need to order that tee shirt.
I saw what looked like a D600 Lawn Boy back there. I'd love to see a video on that. 😁
