I really love that you have your wife’s back. Me as a video creator and editor know how much time and hours it takes to get a 30 minutes video done. Not to mention that she’s probably the one, cooking, cleaning, doing the dishes, laundry, feeding the animals, recording (and getting the cinematic shots), organizing, talking to the sponsors, doing all the work for patrions, getting all the administrative work done and the list goes on..This is how not only a team but a functional family works and that’s the reason I love this channel and have been working hard to also buy my land and have my Farm in Puerto Rico one day. ❤

Matt. My brother of another mother at heart. As a retired teamster crane operator in the roofing industry, I have set several thousand roofs of all types. And now that you have essentially added a sail to your uprights, I'll beg you, please! Install permanent lateral support before something bad happens. I would suggest bracing at 45° angle from uprights to your top plates. That is the weakest point in a wind storm at present. That's a lot of weight up topside, bro. I love guys. Stay safe.

    • @SailingGoodBadandUgly

I'm considering a few options, do u think heavy steel "T" braces would work as well as knee bracing? The 'T" braces have a smaller profile

    • @ldeagle10
      @ldeagle10 2 месяца назад

I'm sorry I didn't see your response sooner but yes T bracing will definitely help though knee bracing is most typically used. I would double them up like a "sandwich" on the upright.

I had done something very similar, it will hold its own weight for a while, eventually will fail to do so and come down. Maybe run something across under it, baling wire? Something to keep it from starting to sag.

I fear one good tropical storm and those roof panels become ballistic missiles. So, hear's hoping you're both safe throughout! Wonderful to watch the creativity, co-operation, enthusiasm and sheer adventure. Sailing lust finished?

I love the way it is turning out, It’s beautiful. I love even more the way you got your wife back, sometimes people don’t look at the bigger picture, there is a lot of work involved in each video you make. This is not one day of work it’s multiple days of hard work and as someone already said your wife is recording plus cooking, cleaning, and then she has to take all of that content and make it a 30 minute video. I absolutely love both of you , you both make a great team. I look forward to seeing what you two have done each week. Great jobs guys. ❤❤

Might have some jungle critters build in the space between the reeds and the metal roof but you guys do like your critters. It's a great looking structure guys, will serve you guys well. BTW, just watched the latest episode of Spear-It-Animal. Hope you liked their gift they left you guys on the boat...lol

Safety glasses? How about a simple pair of swimming goggles???? Protects your eyes. Doesn't fog up, (as long as you spit in them first and flush it out with a little water. Will not obstruct your breathing, eyebrows, speaking !!!!! Sunblock>>> for the back of your neck.

Looks very good and you two nailed the aesthetic you were going for with that extra layer of reed.
The extra air gap and insulation provided will help with the heat of direct sunlight on the metal roof.
Droop or even rot may end up being an issue is my only concern and yours as well from what you said.
If it ends up being an issue of droop maybe use wire strung the length over main beams and between the reed and beams it rests on, along the middle, spanning the gap to help support it.
The right wire wouldn't be to visible, if you find or paint it the right color, and shouldn't take a large gage to be strong enough to help hold the reeds up in the middle.
That structure is very solid and if you do have to, as you said, you can attach anchors when or if they're needed and at multiple angels to long stakes in the ground.
That roof over the RV/Trailer should really help with it's longevity, we should all know roof leaks and water intrusion as well as sun damage are what end up destroying them over time.
Well done you two and as always I look forward to the next video.
Oh, and your reaction to the sticker bombing of a sometimes childish but truly entertaining friend.
Watching Raif and Sasha's video I know it wasn't done out of malice but in fun, as a brother ribbing a brother.
At least he didn't poop on the deck from the spreaders as you suggested but I'll admit that may have been easier to clean up.
    Take care and God Bless...

Such a lovely add of the reed to see above! I only worry about rain water swelling it with your humidity, and will iguanas want to eat it😂. This was once again a hard work project! Love it you two! Great huge accomplishments! Can't wait to see how it is working in next video share! Such a dream team couple!❤

Pro tip I learned years ago. Zipper bag with eye drops and q-tips in your glovebox. If you get something in your eye on the job, saturate a q-tip with eye drops, pinch your eye lashes and pull your eyelid away, and wipe your eye. The q-tip fibers grab everything, the eye drop makes it so you can't feel your eye being wiped, and gives you a cool relief feeling after the wipe! I've used that technique for metal, wood, and a bug, several times in life with 100% successes.
