    Thank you for this video. I discovered it a few weeks ago to modify a shirt color, and this is a great addition to what I experienced. How you copied and pasted the color hex code was an eye opener. Thank you for that.

      Awesome Sean, and great to hear! This tool is handy for a few things, but the main thing it allows for is what I showed. I have a few more edits coming that will show a few more options of using this tool in your workflow. I hope you find it handy though.

    Chris: I feel like you watch me when I edit. ;-) I have never used the replace color filter and you knew that somehow. It's a little difficult it looks like and would definitely need practice. Yours came out exceptionally well. I have not ever known I need that tool, but I can see how on flowers, cars, clothing, it could be useful. Thanks again for another great video. Your knowledge level is off the charts as I've not heard the term Hex number in a very long time.

    • @FreeWillPhotos
      @FreeWillPhotos  3 месяца назад +1

      Danny my friend, thank you for the comment! The replace color filter is really only used for color correction or creative styling. I personally used it here to modify the look of the flower. Hex Numbers are extremely helpful and I love using color websites to generate color schemes for my images. I find hex codes really helpful when I use them with split tone, photo filter and local adjustments paint tools. I think if you will be surprised at how much fun you can have using some of the color tools in ON1. Enjoy editing my friend and let me know how the replace color tool works for you.

    Glad to see On1 is recognizing you as a great RUclipsr doing videos on On1. This video is a great example because I've never seen any video showing this effect. I believe you are a Photoshop and Lightroom Classic. person as well. How does this compare to their point color picker? It seems very similar. Also, I am sure you know adobe has a free dng converter for those that don’t have Lightroom Classic or Photoshop.

    • @FreeWillPhotos
      @FreeWillPhotos  2 месяца назад +1

      Thank you for the support and question. I personally have only played with the Point Color tool in LrC, but the replace color tool could be seen as a similar option. I think the tool in ON1 is more simple to use, but the tool in LrC allows you to really fine tune the color and you can visualize exactly where you are going with it. As for the DNG converter, I am tracking that software. Funny enough, I can open the ARW files on my computer but I am not able to see the preview. I think my computer just does not like to cooperate with ON1, because my M1 Laptop works perfectly fine. In a few years I will retire this M1 Mac Mini and get a MacBook Pro of some sort, or a Mac Studio.

    Thanks so much..have recently dropped the whole Lightroom Creative cloud to use ON1 as a standalone and your videos are great and very helpful for me. FYI this last weekend I used by Sony A6500 and A6700 camera for indoor volleyball and was able to use both ARW files easily on ON1... mostly no noise aspects because lighting was really bad and required ISO 6400

      Thank you for the comment, and I too stopped using Adobe products for a few years and only worked in ON1 and Luminar. Now that I run a headshot business the cost of LrC is covered in the pricing for my clients and it makes it a lot easier to deliver the images. With that said, ON1 is my favorite editing software on the market and I use it for pretty much everything that is not part of my headshot business. If you have questions or want to learn something specific, just let me know and I will see what I can do on producing a video about it.

    Great video! I have used the Color Enhancer effect, but sometimes it seems like none of the color options changed the colors I wanted to edit, so this is a game changer. BTW, I bought an a6700 about a month ago and have been importing and editing the raw files with no issues with ON1.

      Thank you for the comment and I struggled with the replace color filter when it was released, but after working with it over the past few years it has been awesome. I think it is just an issue with my computer because ON1 does not work as expected. I have found that I can edit .ARW files, but I am not able to view a preview. When I open the file in edit, it take a few seconds to load the image and then I can edit it. The bad thing is if I don't shoot RAW+JPEG, I wont have a preview in the browse module to know which image I am opening. Thank you for sharing your experience it really does help me out.

    Nice, very cool edit. On a different subject; Is there a way to export a photo with a .XMP sidecar, not an .ON1 sidecar? Sometimes I need the metadata when I go to a different product, or when I send an image to someone else.

    • @FreeWillPhotos
      @FreeWillPhotos  3 месяца назад +1

      Hey Marc thanks for the comment! When it comes to .XMP files I am not sure if ON1 can create a universal one. I would have to experiment a little, but I have found that exporting the image with all of metadata in the export module has been helpful in getting keywords and ratings into LrC. I think the XMP is embedded into the JPEG and does not show up as a separate file as we are used to seeing the .ON1 file. I hope this helps.

      @@FreeWillPhotos Hi; Thanks for the response... I'm actually more concerned with RAWs and TIFs. I don't do a lot with JPGs, other than final shots for clients. Maybe this is obvious, but I must be missing something. 🙃

    • @FreeWillPhotos
      @FreeWillPhotos  3 месяца назад +2

      I don't think you are missing anything, I will have to take another look at the user manual though to see if there is a way to share the XMP file. I know that basic metadata (name, camera, exposure, keywords, star ratings, color ratings, ect.) does transfer with the TIFF, DNG, JPEG, and PNG, but if the second editor is not using ON1, I don't think you can send them an XMP so they can work destructively. You may be able to use a PSD file, but I think that is only going to provide layers and masks applied at the layer level. Any ON1 specific effects will only be saved to the .ON1 file. If you export a PSD though, you will need to make sure the next person has PhotoShop or Affinity photo to work on the image otherwise it won't do them any good.

      @@FreeWillPhotos Thanks for the detailed follow-up Chris. Great info. I'm really liking the new ON1 a lot and wrestling with how to move over, but still keep compatibility with all my devices. I tried pointing ON1 at my existing Mylio folder structure. 🤣😂🙄 Well, it works, but really dangerous. Already had to do a full restore of Mylio from backup. Mylio also reads from the folder structure, so if I pick up a Mylio photo with ON1 edit and then export to a new file type, or name, it works fine. Within a few seconds Mylio sees it and picks it up. But, catalog based things are a fiasco, since each has their own way of managing the metadata. Mylio did a workable LrC interface, but ON1 doesn't seem to be on their radar, and at this point I like ON1 24.3 better than Adobe. The nice part of point at the same folder is that the .ON1 file is with the image for future edits, although Mylio doesn't see or look at them.

      Thanks for the comment, and now there is a new version of ON1 available. You should be able to download it from your ON1 Dashboard online. For some people it does not populate when you use the "Check for Update" feature in the application so you will have to manually download it from the website.

    I have a Sony a6400, shoot in RAW and have never had any problem with On1 processing the Sony raw files. You shouldn't need to go via Lightroom.

    • @FreeWillPhotos
      @FreeWillPhotos  3 месяца назад

      Thank you for the comment. The files I was working on are from the Sony a6700 according to the ON1 website they added support for the a6700 in November 2023, but I am not able to open any of those files directly into ON1. I will admit this could just be an issue with my computer which is why using LrC has been useful, but it is odd that all of the other programs work as expected, but ON1 does not.
