Man, I love Brunzell. He was one of my heroes from my childhood, growing up in Winnipeg watching the AWA. I could listen to his Minnesota accent forever!
See if you can find the archive of Killing The Town podcast archive with Tony Cabdello. He was the Winnipeg Promoter and he talks about how he challengeds Vernes monopoly of Winnipeg Arena .
I actually got to meet Ox Baker when I was in college in his home town at a dive bar restaurant. Was the nicest guy. Talked for a few minutes and told me a few stories. Such a great day and experience.
Pretty cool that he named Bockwinkel as one of the best road agents. There's a terrific 1 hour match between Jim and Nick here on RUclips, highly recommended guys. 👌🏻
Blackwell was a great heal. He was about 5' 9" and had all that weight and could still do a standing drop kick. He could sell, draw heat, moved great in the ring, and good on the mic. I hated him when I was a kid. What a great talent.
I grew up in AWA territory and Blackwell was always a favorite of mine. He was great in the ring and excellent with promos, a fabulous heel, but I have yet to hear anybody shoot on him. I'd love to hear people's experiences with him as well.
Same, his name often comes up when it comes to taking advantage of other wrestlers. Robinson was untouchable thanks to his friendship/business relationship with Verne so he thought he could get away with anything.
"OX! The natives are getting restless!" Anyone else whenever they hear Ox Baker's name picture the story of Cornette talking the about the night Baker and "Big Cat" Ernie Ladd started a riot in Cleveland, Ohio? "Ox! The natives are getting restless!" "Just a little more hear Ernie. Just a little more heat!!" LOL
I saw him at an event in Minnesota (Brunzell was there, too) signing autographs in 2019; had he passed in the interim, I'm certain it would have been big news.
You had to see Ox in the ring. he had a great look; but, he was slow and mostly just pummeled a guy....boring matches unless he was in there with a great worker who could compensate. Even Kurt Russell had problems with him, according to John Carpenter. Ox was laying in the stuff too hard in the filming of the fight, in Escape From New York and Kurt gave him a shot to the groin (or something along those lines) to get his attention and tell him to lighten up. Everything was fine after that, according to Carpenter.

Comes across as one of the nicest people, and yeah his accent is great 😁

Loved seeing Ox Baker on the Price is Right as a kid!
Jim was one of the nicest most level-headed guys I ever met in the business without a doubt and an incredible athlete!! 👌🙏
Jim really thinks about his answers, tries to answer honestly, always gives fun interviews!
Jim Brunzell is the nicest guy.
Jim's memory is still intact unlike most others of his time.
Seems like a classy guy. Not really wanting to bury people too much, but giving honest answers.

In terms of the AWA, I would be interested to know his experience with Jerry Blackwell.

True legend!!!! BEST dropkick ever!!!!!!!!!
Yes, he had a top caliber dropkick, but I would say the best ever was Antonio "Argentine" Rocca..That's going way back to the 50's & 60's.
Best damn dropkick in the business
I knew he was going to say billy Robinson as a bully.

Would be interested in any Bruiser/Crusher stories/discussion from Mr. Brunzell, he of the greatest Dropkick in rasslin' history!
This has been a great interview

I’ll always think of that when Ox is mentioned! It’s hilarious. I didn’t know about that riot until a couple of years ago. That video is something.
“Just a little more heat brother!”
The Italian Stallion was also The Hardy Boys' agent.
Breakfast with James. Good morning, sir!
Sheiky baby respect the Jim Brunzell
Jim comes across as a really nice bloke, also looking really well for a man in his 70s, great vids
Love your interviews! I’d enjoy seeing some more AWA guys, any chance we see an interview with Baron Von Raschke or Sheik Adnan in the future?
@WWLTD I hadn’t heard anything about his passing, and Wikipedia says he’s still alive.

Jumpin Jim Brunzell - “ HEH❕HEH❕”
Hopefully you asked about the Dan Spivey Adrian Adonis fight
It’s amazing to think a guy who looked so scary was a funny gentle giant outside of the ring.

I'd like to hear Jim talk about Crusher Blackwell.
Strongbow must have been a really big scumbag lol geez
I think Honky Tonk said he ruined careers. Not sure how.
I saw Undertaker destroy Nailz In Los Angles... The match lasted under 2 minutes
I wishbqe could watch the whole thing
I just looked Jim up and discovered we share a birthday!
I share mine with CM Punk. He was born on my 18TH birthday.
I can't get enough of black bart stories, in case you get a chance to talk with him. Cheers
B a by oil around Andre . Bullying would commence
Ox Baker is a good cook!
& was a wonderful person
