Once again, this company should never have had your or anybody's information.
those days of days of legal data brokers not having most of our sensitive info are long gone. and if you've ever signed up for a loan, credit card, car note, etc. AND also any websites/memberships [esp. regarding money] & logins..plus cell phone series + many phone apps..also including sites like free or low cost stock market and/or fractional stock market platforms, whatever..you sign away your right to privacy. that's why it's important to READ THE FINE PRINT. many agreements/TOS we sign up for say that and they know most people aren't willing to read the fine print so we make it easy for them. and they share our data with their business partners & certain other 3rd parties, most often selling it. this is esp. true: if something is free, WE, the people, are the products they benefit financially from. and every adult should know this by now because as long as lawmakers continue to be legally bribed by Big Business/corporations it's not going away..& the internet has made all of this a million times easier for the business world to do.

You know, it's crazy what people can do with a social security number. My child's father's information was on the court documents when he refused to pay support back in the day...
I considered taking out a few credit cards or perhaps even a business loan in his name to support myself and the child he'd abandoned.
My Better Judgment voted not to, however, because it would be Wrong even if he'd owed me the money.
Turns out he used mine to frame me for the drug trafficking he did in order to avoid having to pay child support.
Small world, huh?
And to think DPS requested social security card and birth certificate and they scanned it into their system. And if we refused they would not renew drivers license. What the hell???
What is the difference between the two? Both or criminals. I guess of the criminals has a building called the capital.

Also, thank you for clarifying that over two billion pieces of information had been stolen, not billions of social security numbers. That never made any sense since we've less than half a billion people in America as it is.
