    Thank you for teaching an old girl some great tips. I am self taught, and sometimes want to just give up. But, the cost to have someone else do our vehicles we restore, makes it impossible to re-coupe the cost when we sell them. I have followed some of your videos, and learn from each video. You are a great teacher, and the nicest thing is. You are helping people who are wanting to learn the art of a great upholstery project. I just gave you the very small donation, and urge all to give to you too! Blessings for being my teacher!

    I'm pretty cheap... if it were my truck, I would probably have removed the skirts from the original, found the closest match vinyl and made new skirts and tails.
    Some pre-made kits use cheap vinyl, though.
    I was taught to seal the edges and do the welting at the same time to save time. I like your way better!
    Also, I was told to make slightly sharper angles where the skirt pieces meet, to keep it taut when installing, and cut slightly into the shoulders at the top so they fit snug.
    Don't listen to me, though... I'm still a rank amateur upholsterer! The pleats in my own truck seat that I did years ago don't line up😖 but nobody notices but me.

    Hi Buddy
    I really appreciate your videos. I went to trade school in high school for 2 yrs. I learned a lot of techniques, and after I graduated best in class in 1982 I've learned more on my own. Like you say " its not rocket science "
    I use a Consew, got rid of my 211 G-165 Singer. It got worn out wasn't worth fixing.
    You got me motivated again to get some stuff done.
    I've encountered the same thing when people who buy this aftermarket seat covers. They think I can fix them, yeah right. The material is mostly junk.
    Keep up your hard work and keep your videos coming.
    In the trade, Russell

    • @oldschoolautoupholstery
      @oldschoolautoupholstery  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hello my friend Dave, Thank you so much for saying so! For boat seats I just lay them out, lined up on the floor, keeping within the 54" roll width. Then just take a tape measure and go down the imaginary roll. Don't forget to have enough vinyl for your sides. I usually add 1 or 2 yards extra just so I do not come up short.
