    Interesting thoughts bro. When I started write songs It was a mix with old darkthrone and burzum...and still the influence of BM veterans presents in my music. But your life experience, your thoughts, your vision on some things makes your creativity unique. On my opinion influence is ok, with time and experience you find your own way. Sorry for my English, it's not my native language.

    Great lesson, man. Reminded me that it’s nothing wrong to sometimes use some composing limitation, especially if one has little practical experience. After spending huge amount of time learning theory and such, i realized that just can’t chose a way of composing a song among lots of possibilities. “Drums first ? No, that’s boring, but what kind of riff to use for a song part - maybe chord progression-like chugs .. or blacknroll stuff , or progressive 7th/9th/13th chord perversions. Maybe use in a bridge some strange time signature. And scale - natural minor or maybe diminished or harmonic minor, what mood do i need. And what kind vocal to use in that part - Satyricon grimness or Nagash-like squeals or Crest of Darkness -style hiss , maybe some Solefald tired voice. Synths above - crazy chiptune stuff or classic sympho or trance supersaw or minimoog vibes. And so on. And no songs in result. I don’t mind total avant-garde black, just damn hard to make those choices ))

    @Vancity-2000 3 года назад +2

    Thank you for your video, it is great, but I am totally confused, is this a correct way to compose a song? never heard that, you are composing a song based on a drum track that somebody made it and you download it and make your guitar and bass based on that? I wouldn't call this composing a song, I thought composing a song from scratch means, you first think about a riff, melody or some tones that nobody did it before and you compose that on your guitar, then you add your bass and drum, vocal to it, please correct me if I'm wrong

    • @borist.
