Is that LSD. I've rebuild 2 sets of G-series gearbox with my try and error method but successfully done.. ... Your video is amazing. Im going to put mazda gtx or gtr engine soon. Any recommendation to upgrade gearbox.
I know this is old, but did you need to drop the K-member? I have to pull my trans because the !@** spider dropped down when I tried to install the axles. Lesson learned, but the K-member is a nightmare to drop and reinstall.
@andrewhagopian468 You mean cradle that goes front to rear ? Yeah , thats got to come off. The my car didn't have the brace that normally goes from passenger side to driver side. I think i have a video of me pulling the trans somewhere.
Hope it works out with the new stuff. Had a friend pushing that much HP and blowing the tyranny's so he turned the engine and dropped in a Miata trans. Also made the car rear wheel, tubed with a ford 9 inch. I'm probably going sequential, but will be later at the end of the summer. Great video.
Man I hate to see that, Good luck on the swap trans tho. Still haven't found a trans for mine that I can use parts to fix my grinding gears.... Hopefully soon I'll run across something. Love watching vids, keep her going homie!
Do you have any spare parts for these laying around? I desperately need a guide plate assembly that bolts to the inside of the case by the main shift rod.
Have you thought about doing a cryogenics treatment on the gearset? One of my boy's did it on his car(04 lancer) and hasn't had any transmission problems since.
What's going on with ya!? I assume you're working on the transmission upgrade, but I'm just getting started after picking up my (finally) '93 EGT parts car! Is the BK210AWS kit what I need to rebuild the transmission? Do you have a suggestion in either a kit or individual part numbers that I should purchase to freshen up this 208,000mi 5speed in the EGT before putting it in my 323? I'm right there and looking to get the whole thing done with the 1.8na (for now) and transmission swap in the next month, month and a half. I could really really use your detailed help (aside from your videos which I've watch in their entirety). Wish there was a more efficient way to have a conversation with you if you wouldn't mind so I can tell you exactly where I'm at and get your opinion.
Haven't been doing much other than work, haven't started the 153 swap yet... I'm not sure on the parts kit for the rebuild, I only did bearings in mine.

My son in law races this car. He also has an fb 1000 open wheel. Im still figuring out where everything goes on the mazda 3. Thanks for you helpful video. Can i shoot you a photo or two? There is one part i cant figure out. The problem is he took this to a transmission guy who tore it down but then went out of business. So im going by the shop manual which is kind of useless.

Love the fabrication but....ford has gearboxes that can handle that power & I know they are expensive but the Mazda 3 mps box can too & it comes with a lsd
Just because they are Ford or Mazda dosen't necessarily make them easier to swap. It would be just as much work, if not more. Money isn't really a concern. This swap has been done before so I don't have to try and figure everything out my self, plus no one make an adapter plate for any of the other transaxle.

Have you looked for any Zx2 5spds? They're both G-series, just different bell housings; the gearsets should swap right over.

Depends on how far you're willing to travel, spend, and where you're located.
