Can we take a moment to appreciate the judge who understood that the verdict was nonsense and did his best to lock this piece of human garbage up for as long as he legally could? What braindead rejects were on that jury though?
Yes! And soon the public will be back in danger. Thanks folks!
i hope he goes and stalks the jury 👀🔨
The judge could have overturned it
Jade Moon could he have really overturned it?
@jademoon5103 yeah but could he have? Exactly how in this case? Genuinely curious bc it seems he would have if he could have, I believe.
When someone digs a grave in advance, I'm pretty sure it was premeditated murder. Good gracious.
i cant believe they fell for his ba
🫶🏻Plz listen to “Diggin’ My Grave” by Lady Gaga🤍🫠
@@Patti-MAGA I might do that. Thank you.
I dunno bro I used to have a grave dug when I was a young man in case I accidentally killed someone n needed to bury them. As it turned out I'd spent all thst time digging for naught. Was good fun digging, though.
@@StarlightEater Hey brother your life aint over yet. Plenty of chances left to fill that hole!
What was the jury thinking?! The fact that he'd prepared a grave ahead of time must count for something. Thanks, as always, Dr. Grande, for another interesting video.
Yeah I was waiting for this to play out like a crime of passion, eg. Chris Watts, where they call BS and say that the "passion" or fit of anger could not have lasted that long, as in for the length of time it took the premeditation and preparation. I guess the amount of time the diminished capability for adjustment disorder could last longer?
The jury was swayed by the pilot's status and charm and the presecutor should have warned them against falling for this.
What was wrong with that jury ? Could they not see the level of premeditation.
Yes! Grave already dug!
They were British
@@JEkglw 🤣👌😅👍😂 🎯
They were women.
People are stupid
Utterly disturbing failure by that jury.
It is sickening for sure. But, Johanna Realized what kind of person he was the night. Of their honeymoon, End decided to stay with him. I hope this story helps at least one person. Listen to your gut, And if You trust your family listen to them.
I'm so sorry for Joanna and her children and loved ones. "Adjustment Disorder"?? Bollocks. PARDON??? WTH??? That jury are as bright as a box of blown lightbulbs. This was premeditated. I am blown away. I have an ex who was a pilot with the same ego and victim issues. We broke up because of religious differences. He thought he was God, and I didn't.
Happy for your lost. 😄
Nice one!
you didn't think you were God, or you didn't think your ex was?
@@adotintheshark4848 The ex. x
The jury had their heads stuck somewhere but I don’t think it was the clouds. Thank you Dr. Grande for the fascinating video!
If you automatically get released after half of your sentence, isn't your actual sentence just half of what it should have been? What a strange rule that is.
I thought that same? What do you mean "autimatic release"?? That is bizarre!
Maybe with good behavior, you get out in half the time, but with bad behavior, you serve your entire sentence? Anyway, what a terrible Justice system that is!🙄
The other half is visiting the probation officer and has some restrictions on mobility depending the sentence. If bad behavior is detected or not showing up to the probation officer can make them comback to finish their sentences back in prison.
They need some Texas-style justice over there.
Wellcome to the UK. Where you can kidnap rape and kill multiple times and walk out of jail. Kill people in your car in a car chase will see you get 2 years in jail. Or stab a man in the heart and get convicted of GBH, because how could it be attempted murder..
I am totally astounded by this one. How do you murder someone in cold blood and get this kind of sentence? I can't even believe this is real. Wow.
Welcome to England. It’s forever 1900.
This country the uk gives murders second chances even when they don’t revel where they buried a body it’s crazy we have no justice here
Thank you Dr. Grande for landing this case safely on the runway. Even on a sunny day, the skies are darkened by these types of malignant narcissists. The jury was a flock of flying monkeys who enabled this highly charismatic pilot to fly above the clouds in his fantasy of victimhood. Below the clouds, a scorched earth remains as an abhorrent testament to this man’s vindictive murder of his wife.
Very clever wording.👍
You're a writer, aren't you? It's wonderful to see such articulation and creativity in a comment. Well done.
As as a flight attendant, I can appreciate your closing statement, Dr. Grande😞😊
Pilots are often only admirable from a distance. Doctors can be similar; my mum was a nurse assisting heart surgeons and most of them behaved like animals.
You know how you know you’re at a party with a pilot?

I'm disgusted by this case. I can only hope some random person decides he needs to be ultimately judged. That jury is a pure insult to the system.
Superficial charm can be deadly. This is case in point. I tend to be a bit suspicious of charm at all-maybe it’s a little paranoid but better safe than sorry. Thanks Dr. Grande.
I came up with a slogan for this - Charm Harms…….

Thinking about these children and how their lives are messed up. Such tragedy.
He Savagely Murdered Joanna, and should have received LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE! And trash talked about her!
These jurors are a disgrace to their community
100%
Dr. Grande, that was the kindest euphemism for "the jury had their heads stuck up their asses" that I have ever heard!
Oh my god an airplane pilot talking about thinking about crashing his airplane is AN INSTANT mental health referal and him taken off of flight duty and probably never being allowed to fly again
What did she just shrug when he told her that, and do absolutely nothing? Didn't contact his employer? o.o
Her own fault. If someone tells you they want to axe murder you and crash a plane full of people, perhaps you ought to take them seriously rather than do nothing and put hundreds of lives at risk because you can't be bothered.
People threaten to kill me all the time, sometimes subtly, sometimes in plain English.
Still alive!
I wait until I see someone taking action before I take a threat seriously. It's usually just weak people trying to manipulate or control me.
I agree she should have notified the authorities and his employer. That being said my sister in law was married to a similar type of guy, he constantly said crap like that anytime she tried to leave her! Threatened to kill her or the kids anything necessary to get her to stay. Overtime one gets numb to the claims and has heard it so many time they assume the person is manipulating them and as long as they comply no harm will come!
My next call would have been e to authorities
The prosecution failed miserably with this case. It should have been easy for any prosecutor to point out all the pre planning and violent tendencies from this creep.
They likely did point out out, but the jury overlooked it because they were "charmed" by the psychopathic murderer
@@MsSilverTulip Yes, the judge being taken aback by the jury’s verdict indicates it wasn’t a prosecution failure, but a group of people who allowed themselves to be swayed by a monster.
Ony thing the video doesnt explain is why did he turn himself in though.. what could be the reason for that? like he planned out the whole thing.. dug a grave etc only to then freely hand himself over to the authorities.
@@jhozthron4415He knew they would find out. This way he had the upper hand and things were on his timeline. He had a lawyer and his story already to go.
@@sugarspice7768 Yeah i suppose it was somekind of warped way to give himself the feeling of superiority and control.. crazy to think they let him off the murder charge and he will be a free men next year with zero psychological treatment or observation afterwards..
How could they ignore the Premeditation? And the Children were there! Those Children will Suffer forever!🥀🥀🥀🥀🙏🙏🙏🙏
Justice for Joanna. This video spreading awareness is a great step.
It's too late to help Joanna. Perhaps it will be a warning to others to escape narcissistic relationships before children are involved.
Wait a minute... you go through all of that planning and covering up the murder only to call the police and make an appointment to tell them about it 🤦🏾♀️
Then the jury????
This entire case is extremely upsetting 😡
This is a psychopath setting up his defense.
Your key word. " Planning " should have been premeditated.
He got off lightly. But to have the children there. Then without their mom. Juries really need to factor that in. I guess its not important. 🤷
N what world is a predug grave not premeditated murder?
In the U.K. a pilot for BA at that time was one of the most respected and desirable careers. The jury were no doubt swayed by him, especially if he had a ‘well educated’ accent
He possessed a talent as of a cult leader - a charisma, and played the jury like a toy.
Yes very sad. Some Narcissist are such good actors that they have everyone believing bad things about their spouses. 😢 RIP Joanna ❤
The adjustment disorder defense is as ridiculous as the Twinkie defense (in that case long ago in San Francisco). I feel most sad for her children.
Absolutely incredible how psychopaths can charm everyone, including juries.
Hello Dr. Grande, what a case. I feel very sorry for the children, and of course Joanna. I hope Robert is never around the children. Rest In Peace Joanna. Thank you for your analysis and your hard work always, from Jean.
This case is extremely upsetting and enraging - I am crying. The horror that this poor woman went through and this abhorrent monster painted *himself* as the victim like all DV perpetrators do. The shocking stupidity of the jury makes me question the validity of the jury system if people can be so gullible and ignorant that they allow cold-blooded murderers to escape justice. And why the hell is he only serving HALF of the 24-year sentence? So it's a pretend-24 year sentence? This case is especially horrifying and heartbreaking due to the lack of justice. SMDH.
What a pathetic, gullible jury. 🤦♀️
They didn't want to miss tea.

As an Englishman, I'm SO ashamed of this jury !
Straight up bars at the end, I love the way Dr.G breaks down his opinion of a case. It has only gotten better with every video I watch.
Love Dr. Grande. His low key roasts and this plane analogy at the end are so good
Grande!! Wow you really put these vids out regularly. I love it. And they are always great quality. Thanks, buddy.
Wow, he's a helluva pilot. I'd have never thought that defense would fly, much less land at his intended destination. I'm going to run it through my flight simulator.
Was the jury at the time aware of the premeditation like the digging of the grave prior to the murder? And how do they feel now knowing everything that they know in hindsight? Do they feel duped? like is there an interview with a juror anywhere that I can watch where they can tell me how they feel now? I am legitimately very intrigued and curious
Interesting concept.
Always enjoy seeing a new video alert from Dr. Todd 🎉
Oh, my God! 14 times with a claw hammer??!!! And those Poor Children! Devastating!💔💔💔💔🙏🙏🙏🙏
Be relieved the killer used a hammer, the 2nd leading cause of murder. Guns, ranked by the fbi as 5th leading cause of murders, were not used. Maybe one day governments will pass hammer control legislation and get us to take intense psychological courses in order to use a hammer.
What a list of characteristics, wow. Many people appease their ego with disastrous results. I agree with your analysis. Thanks Dr G😊💙💙
Maybe we need to consider IQ tests for members of the jury.
Seriously some sort of moral/intellectual competency test anything that holds some sort of standard, because this is embarrassing.
More like EQ. They had no idea that they were being charmed, and completely lost track of what they were there to do, hear the facts and administer justice.
Chuckle, great play on words at the end! Very sad story and outcome, however. Injustice is so difficult!
Can you analyze the case of Patty Prewitt? Phil Macraw did a special on her case and is convinced that she is innocent of the murder she was convicted of. I’m not so sure and I always love hearing your take on any criminal case. Of course I like hearing your opinion on any case
Completely brillant analysis with exceptional dry humor. Very well done.
I lived thru a similar situation with my ex husband, while we were married, and to think of any other woman especially a woman with small children having to feel the way my ex made me feel, the fear for my life I felt while in a completely different state away from my family and friends… you wouldn’t want your worst enemy to feel that way.
Only murderers and pedos should ever feel that kind of fear for your life. How horrible and violent people like this exist is beyond me.
“My hair hurts too much. “ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. A horrific story, but I just adore your humour Dr G.
This is ridiculous! I’m so confused by the jury’s decision.
This is so Sad, and Joanna didn't get Justice.🥀🥀🥀🥀🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🙏🙏🙏🙏🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
When a system is unjust, we must exact justice ourselves. I hope nothing like this ever happens to a member of my family.
One of the scariest situations I can think of is being judged by a jury of my peers.
Love your use of aviation words a great touch to this tragic murder.
Long time listener first time caller. Love the show!
When the people who love you try to warn you about someone, listen to them!!!
If I'm not mistaken, most of the jurors were members of Asnem (kind of like Mensa, but in the opposite direction).
I love your summary of this case 😂 the whole video is great, as always. I always feel happier watching your videos... Even though alot are about gruesome subjects. Im beyond appalled though that a jury could find him not guilty. Everyone who murders claims they had a "reason" whether they were angry, jealous, killing to escape responsibility from something they did to the victim or hid from the victim etc... And to not be held responsible just by claiming he was treated poorly as his "reason", isn't good enough. It wasn't in the heat of the moment, it was clearly premeditated. Not good that he will be released. Hopefully the next woman he dates finds out quickly that she needs to run from him... And hide. ❤️
The way you summed up this case at the end was brilliant! Thanks for the great content Dr Grande.
Love the ending analogy 👌🏾 Dr. Grande...That jury well I have no kind words for them.😠
_Thanks for telling us you've never had your haircut on a work night, without actually saying you've never had your haircut on a work night._
Thank you Dr G . Brilliant analysis as always.
When my sister was divorcing her hyper-controlling narcassistic husband of almost 2 decades, he appeared in court for the hearing before the judge for the allocation of marital assets in a wheelchair and claimed that he was too weak to work and asked for a large alimony payment from my sister.
"I made a big mistake by marrying him." Proceeds to have two children with him!!!
She wanted more money from the government as she did not have enough of her own or her relatives monies. That was the reason for the 2 kids.
I don't get it - why did she not abort? Would just abort and file for a divorce and bye.
Because where is she going to meet another airplane pilot? She had $$ in her eyes
@@jayjaynella4539 yet she owned a massive house and had a prenup to stop him getting her money. I see you have a similar comprehension level to the jury in this case.
@@jj-gi1ft Well put
That was a machine gun of bad puns at the end there 😂
Any even mediocre prosecutor would argue a grave prepared before a murder proves premeditation. Heck, I have "adjustment disorder" every time a restaurant gets my order wrong. You'd think I'd get used to it after so many times.
My sister was married to a man like this and she too was his victim and got away with it . After going through her money with help from his new wife she kicked him to a curb. In the end he shot himself in his ragged little trailer. I think guilt and the way all that money got away so fast keep eating at him . And the small space he was living in didn’t help. She was just 42 and a popular real estate lady.
Loved how you wrapped that up, Dr! Well done!
What a terrible jury. I’m so sorry for her, glad the kiddos were not hurt
Never RUSH INTO A RELATIONSHIP and never move in quickly. Take time to know them
She had all that money yet was not able to protect herself from him. Too bad she didn't hire a security guard or move somewhere where he didn't have direct access to her. Clearly he premeditated the murder and since he never had to show any remorse he might do this again. He's had no therapy or rehabilitation and is a danger to society.
This case gave me adjustment disorder.
The fact this monster was a BA pilot made the judge and jury react in the most disbelieving way. He’s a murderer and should never be allowed out of jail.
Sticking it out - staying in a bad relationship - all too often goes downhill, in a descent into darkness. It just gets darker and darker. Negatives on negatives, amplified and reinforced by more negativity. A spiral staircase down to another level of darkness.
I've had this idea for a while that the way to make jury trials more fair and objective is that the defendant and victim are never seen, you don't know their race, what they look like, their name, etc. Its just person A, witness B, etc. Voices are AI for testimony. Theoretical concept, but it would eliminate so much human bias.
If I was on that jury I would have lost it... what the hell... that's so scary...
Lots of high ranking people in the UK want his early release blocked, so there's a good chance it will be.
Great wrap up. I can now put my tray in an upright position.
Love your work.. bit of a corny ending but you always setup the best for last "the jury had their heads in the clouds"

@@lynemac2539 Granma is spot on. 👍
As the population as a whole gets dumbed down, every sector of that society also gets dumbed down. This is no surprise what the jury did.
For the benefit of those who may not be familiar with the English legal system, the concept of pre-meditation does not automatically exclude a defence of diminished responsibility. To take an extreme example, if a person has a mental condition that causes them to believe a person is a werewolf, buying silver bullets would not necessarily negate the defence. As the UK Supreme Court said in the lead case of R v Golds: "If the facts of the case give rise to it, [the judge] needs to warn the jury that brutal killings may be the product of disordered minds and that planning, whilst it may be relevant to selfcontrol, may well be consistent with disordered thinking." I think the jury got the decision wrong here, but the principle isn't incorrect as a matter of law.
That combination of poetry and prose was delicious! Keep that shit coming. 😃
It's criminal...how can the jury selection be so naive for such heinous offenses...they were fresh out of college or what!!
