Excavations at Killeen East Co Roscommon

Our latest documentary outlines the results of archaeological excavations undertaken in the townland of Killeen East, Co. Roscommon in advance of the construction of the N5 Ballaghaderreen-Scramoge road project.
This short film focuses primarily on the excavation of an Early Medieval enclosure, souterrains and burials excavated at Killeen East 2. It also shows the excavation of a ring barrow at Killeen East 1 and burnt mounds at Killeen East 3, all of which are of probable Bronze Age date.
