If there was "casting sand" at the bottom of the block, wouldn't it be a good idea to flush with water while plug/heater block port was open? Just hook a garden hose to the radiator and let it flow. This would also dilute everything that you had on the ground.
Yes, flushing would have been a good idea. I would never flush with anything other than distilled water as to not contaminate the block and radiator with mineral deposits from house water. I did not have any extra distilled water or I would have done that. Thanks for the comment.
Also, while you had the radiator drained, could you have installed a new petcock/drain tube for future maintenance? Very good chance that will be drained again in the future and this would have prevented a repeat situation.
Yeah, that would have been a good idea. I'm not sure where I would have put one. I guess maybe finding a spot in the heater hose for the cab, if it was low enough to drain the entire system.
It’s basically your preference. The glow plugs will get it started in extremely cold weather, but I then let the engine warm up for a while after starting before I use it. The block heater helps it start easier when cold and allows you to operate the tractor sooner because the coolant is already somewhat warmed. As far as I know there is not a set temp to use the block heater. I use it anytime the temp falls below freezing. It only needs to be plugged in for 1-1.5 hours before starting. I hope that answers your question.
@@On_The_Farm So far it is better than my last. I get intermittent transmission calibration lights which I had on the last, but so far no real trans problems. The steering has something going on, I can turn the wheel and it will keep going straight and then suddenly lurch in the direction I wanted. Dealership think it’s a break in issue.
Yes, I do. I was just in the dealership yesterday asking about the one I ordered with the tractor and they aren’t able to give me a timeframe on delivery. If it ever shows up I plan on doing an install video for it.

At what temperature is the block heater needed?

Is there a cure time for the loctite? I bought the heater kit online and had the dealer install during the 50 hour service.
Yes, it is 10 minutes. I should have included that in the video.
@@gaining_ground So overall are you happier with your new CT5555?

Do you plan on putting a 3rd function on your tractor?
Yes, I do. I was just in the dealership yesterday asking about the one I ordered with the tractor and they aren’t able to give me a timeframe on delivery. If it ever shows up I plan on doing an install video for it.
