I followed your directions step-by-step, but I ran into a couple of snags. Does the way the picture was taken whether it was taken like a selfie or horizontally make a difference???? All the pictures that I was able to see were horizontal and not vertical. How do I change that? And some pictures showed a bunch of numbers, but when I clicked on that picture, it would not let me set it as wallpaper. Help.

Yes vertical or horizontal orientation when taking the picture likely makes a difference depending on the phone or camera used. The other symbols you entire are likely due to a corrupt or unsupported file.

Do you have a recommendation for a micro sd card ? Awesome video though ...

For blank SD cards you can use anything between 2gb to 32gb cards. at least a class 6 card is recommended. most cards these days are class 10.
