    He should have saved about 20 of his books, being released each year after he dies, like Frank Zappa albums. I like the idea of King releasing books beyond the grave.

      I still think we’ll get plenty of King from beyond the grave…the man is a machine!

      Maybe he has 20+ books that are saved for just that purpose. He writes so much material.

    Six to nine minutes in: you like it brighter? Jokes aside, very excited for this collection. Hope to be finished with going through his body of work in time for May 21st. Especially intrigued by The Dreamers as I believe that’s the one he’s dedicating to the memory of Cormac McCarthy. (Curious to see what impact that has on the story.) Love your work, Dave! Keep it up!

      That joke made my day - genuinely the first comment I’ve ever used the ‘love’ reaction on! And that’s a great fact about The Dreamers…even more interested in it now!

    CR here...I once wrote SK, (after his accident, and around a time he was slowing in writing scary and more about personal and politics) "Fun is fun, but done is not done. Don't turn out the lights, just yet, on scary beautiful." I understand covid as a topic, a plague, but also, maybe, about the scary and weird joy for those that liked everyone in cabin mentality. What about those that thrived, and loved it? I can't, I am not a storyteller, I don't have the mind to take that somewhere scary and surreal and amazing. He does. Spin covid 180°; I can't imagine (which is why I am a CR) what that would look like...but it would be canon, and only SK could do it right/write.

      Thanks for the kind words Kieran! I think some of his other short story collections would be a great place to go to next - specifically Night Shift, Skeleton Crew and Everything’s Eventual! If you’re looking for novels, maybe go for Salem’s Lot, The Dead Zone and - in preparation for Rattlesnakes in the new one - Cujo. 👍👍

    Is it just me of does this title sound wrong? Darkest Shadows or The Darkest Nights would suit better IMO rather than sounding like he’s asking us what we prefer!

      It’s definitely an unusual title - I’m sure it’ll get explained somewhere in the book…maybe in his intro/afterword

      @@DaveReadsKing I think it may be a Leonard Cohen homage? I recall he did a song or album called "You Like it Darker" or very similar - I'll have to look. (updating) - It's "You Want it Darker" - a studio album where that was the title song.

    Why don't they release a bigger short story collection?? Only 12 stories?? That's too low even night shift had 20 stories and why don't they release a big short story collection like 30-40 stories with some old short stories from 70s 80s or 90s which are difficult to get like im still waiting for king to make a short story or novella from the comics "the crate".the crate would be lovely to read as a written format other than comics

    • @DaveReadsKing
      @DaveReadsKing  3 месяца назад +1

      I hear you, although this new collection is still pushing 500 pages, so there should be plenty there! As for the Crate, I’m pretty sure you can find that one online as a short story - I know I’ve read it
