I forgot I threw that idea out there, so that was a nice surprise.🙂 I think I agree with all your choices. And yes, overrated doesn't mean bad. Two that I would add are: The Long Walk (I often see this in reader top tens and I just don't get it), and The Green Mile (take away the fact that it was serialized and had a memorable movie adaption, and I feel that there is not much too it.)

You are 100% correct about the Stand. I love dystopian novels, and the Stand really disappointed me. The two most important characters that represent good and evil were not fleshed out much and the ending left a lot to be desired.

Some people have wondered if King was compromised along the way, with an underage girl or even a child (people remark on the child abuse in some of his books). Older folks like me remember Howard Hunt of a certain 3-letter agency who was a writer. Did King get rich & famous on his own, or was he touted and Made famous? Where is all the money really going? Who is this prolific? Is he really writing it all, does some else write part of it? Is he being used as a front for the money for someone else? Some of his stuff is 1,000 pages of stuff with no ending, it’s just spewing. Did he become Richard Bachman to write his own Real books? The circumstances surrounding the car accident were always questionable-some think somebody wanted him dead already. He may have agreed to something in order to take care of his daughter, who has severe health problems. Watch some of his old tv interviews & he looks like someone putting on a really good Show. And his marxist social media posts are so over the top they almost look like a cry for help. I hope the truth about King will be known one day. I read everything he wrote in the 70s & early 80s & loved it, until the first thousand page tome that went nowhere.

Your video summarizes this book beautifully. Simply brilliant. I just finished this novel this morning and it will once again haunt me for years. I first read it waaay back in the 80s and it had the same effect on me. It is filled with grief so profound that you cannot stand it. So debilitating that you can barely breathe. It's haunting and horrifying but also a beautifully written story with rich characterizations and deep emotions. You feel the intense grief that comes about from intense love...and loss. This story is an example of Stephen King's incredible talent when it comes to character development, particularly children. You care about them. You connect with them. You worry about them. Just a few days ago I wrapped up Salem's Lot (surprisingly for the first time!) and cannot believe it took me this long to read that amazing novel. Love your channel, by the way!

The Drawing of Three by far. I've never done coke, but I could feel King's coke rush through the text. The most white-knuckled read I've ever experienced. Which is strange, as King isn't famous for his pacing. After that, The Gunslinger and The Wastelands. Battling Blaine was almost as white-knuckled as The Drawing of Three, and The Gunslinger was just interesting through and through.

It is for sure overrated IMO, its bloated and the ending isn't great. Needful Things is excellent IMO, but i get it lol its silly Carrie is great IMO, i think in a way its underrated actually lol Thinner is great IMO, i think it's properly rated, not his best but not his worst Bill Hodges = book 1 is alright, book 2 is fantastic, book 3 is bad IMO lol The Gunslinger gets better and better on a reread, but on its own, yeah, not the best Skeleton Crew is overrated, has top tier short stories, but a lot of subpar stories The Talisman is my LEAST favorite King book lol definitely overrated Wizard and Glass is great lol but definitely overrated, not the best DT book The Stand is extremely overrated, the middle is quite boring and the ending sucks lol

Red Screen has a strong connection to Suffer the Childern IMO. Could be the same creatures.
