Always such enlightening palaver when I'm invited on my favorite Gunslinger's channel. Definitely have to plan something else for the near future and say thank ya to everyone who tuned in during the live broadcast or replayed it afterwards.
-FUEGO! 🔥🤘🌹
The goats of constant readers united
No one person I'd rather talk King with!
Please Mike make this a common match-up for future videos, the chemistry between you two was excellent
I would talk To Jaime about King for 19 hours if our schedules made it possible. Thats my Sai.
This was epic. I’d love to see you two do this more often. I’ve been following Jaime for a very long time; even before I found you, Mike, but now y’all are my two favorite book tubers.
I watched Jaime long before I even had a channel.
This was awesome.
And Wind Through The Keyhole is fantastic. You gotta read it, Mike!
Great video! I could listen to you guys talk about King for hours. I hope you and Jaime can collaborate in the future. I really enjoyed this collection too. I liked some stories more than others obviously, but I didn't feel there were any flat out duds in the whole book. Bastids, The Dreamers, and The Answer Man were great. Loved The Fifth Step too, although I'd read that one already. I thought Jaime calling this a "greatest hits" collection was spot on. It felt like, no matter what era of King you like, there were stories in here for you.
So cool to see Jaime on here. What an awesome surprise❤️
Half term holidays and I need something to listen to while cleaning up after my teenage daughter and you come through for me again... cheers 🍻
UK gang
@@jackmorgan0 you know it!
Happy to help!
Fun chat! Loved seeing Jaime join you
Rattlesnakes was SURPRISINGLY excellent. I'd love for Mike Flanagan to adapt it.
That would be amazing.
Always good to see Jaime. 🔥🔥🔥
I'm a librarian and never read King. I started with Bill Hodges and loved it. Love Holly and King's detective stories. Would never have read any of his work now I'm reading backwards.
Lisey’s Story!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love you both. What a great discussion about the new book!
Thanks for watching!
I was just happy to hear some love for The Tommyknockers.
Ha ha there's a good book in there behind the mountains of cocaine.
I think in order to really appreciate "Slide Inn Road," you need to be familiar with Flannery O'Connor's short story "A Good Man Is Hard to Find." This is his version of that short story. At the end of the story, he includes a line: "Thinking of Flannery O'Connor." O'Connor wrote Southern Gothic stories with characters called "grotesques." I like his version of the story almost as much as hers!
This team up is pretty rad
The Dreamers is like an unofficial Revival sequel.
No doubt.
For sure
It's strange how someone died due to turbulence on the same day that this book was released with "The Turbulence Expert." I never heard of anyone dying from turbulence prior to that incident.
FYI, the UK cover on the inside has an embossed image of the slide depicted for the story, "Finn." Is that on the US cover, too?
Freaky.
What a fun review, i love Jaime's channel and reviews. Love this book so far, Willie The Weirdo stood out to me, and The Dreamers was crazy as hell. The story I liked most was Two Talented Bastids. Cheers King Fans!!
Also, I was reading this while bumping You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen. They make an excellent pairing
Absolutely!
I thought "Finn" was a nice departure in style and approach for King. It's also a good showcase for King's sense of humor.
Great video! Reading "You Like It Darker" right now
Wind through the Keyhole is Wizard and glass meets fantasy. It really good, Mike. I think you’ll be happy to return to the Ka-tet.
Great video.
Curious about that Stephen King of the Hill shirt.
Isn't that awesome? I need one.
I really enjoyed Rattlesnakes depiction of grief
Slide Inn Road (i think) wasnt about "dont fk with grandpa" as much as it was about grandpa's offspring (the dad) being of a different generation who isnt emotionally equipped to handle that type of crisis, even when faced with the impending death of his family. Fight or flight.
Would someone mind explaining what Mike meant by Rattlesnakes wrapping up the Frank Dodd closet plot hole in Cujo? I've read both Cujo and Rattlesnakes, but struggling to make that connection. Thanks!
Same!!
The Fireman by Joe Hill is excellent, Mike!
Stephen king new book is getting rave reviews. I'm going to get my copy.
Tommyknockers is my 2nd favorite King. People need to give it a chance.
I have my problems with it but he's written much worse books.
Jaime I agree with you I liked The Tommy knockers and I also liked Dreamcatcher.
I enjoyed most of the stories in this collection.
Really looking forward to reading the Cujo "sequel"
It was good.
u gotta read the fireman. Joe Hill has yet to let me down with his books. Wind through the keyhole is my 3rd fav book of the dark tower (book1, book 4 and then Keyhole).
It's a matter of when, not if.
Answer Man Danny’s dream and Laurie were my favourites
Awesome book, half-way through it!
Thank You for the Video 😀
My pleasure!

Well now Im itching for King again.
Finn is the only story from this collection that didn't land for me. I may need to read it again. 🤷♀️
N was one of the creepiest stories I have read in a while
Walton Goggins as Flagg?
I can dig it.
Hi Mike I am here and any new King novel is good to me.
Glad you liked it!
I didn’t like Rattlesnakes I thought it was very odd it lost me I was quite disappointed
This comment may be a spoiler for some so please look away… but if someone can clarify it for me, why do people seem to think Willie is now “grampa?” Just cause he made the gesture that grampa does? Why can’t it be perceived that grampa was a “weirdo” too, made up all those stories,, and now Willie is just replicating a man that he was able to relate and see himself in?
It's surely a possibility since we're not given complete clarification, but knowing King's affinity for TWILIGHT ZONE type twist endings to his short stories I personally think the body-jumping theory many of us perceived is more likely. Nevertheless, just my opinion.
The Tommyknockers is better than Under the Dome. UTD doesn't get enough credit for how bad it is. It starts out great with an interesting concept but the explanation in the end is terrible and ruins the whole thing for me, especially for how long it is. It's as bad as dreamcatcher for me.
Anyone care to talk about the ending of Willie the Weirdo?
I'm first! 😂 Sorry, but I had to say it! Im looking forward to reading this book. I heard it's much lighter on the politics...i hope this is true? If this isn't true let me know bc I won't be reading it anytime soon.
Same. I hate when Stephen King forces his woke political ideologies into his books.
He mentions The Virus That Shall Not be Named a bunch but not in a preachy way.
@@dannyjorde2677cry harder
@@ReadingAde It seems like you already do that pretty well on your own.
@@dannyjorde2677 I agree, Holly was unbearable and the first time that I really felt like King went too far up his own a@@.
I'll start it later today; God I hope King doesn't go up his own a@@ like he did in Holly with all his lefty lectures and BS.
