Thank you for posting. I've been waiting for Yuja-Chopin for quite some time and not disappointed. I see Freddy has been here and to his point, I suspect Yuja has a steel spine that allows her to put up with the unsavory comments of detractors. I on the other hand find her playing of this and many other works full of passion and flawless. I will save my bravo for the final movement.

I didn't make the comparison myself, I replied to someone who had done those comparisons, and I did not agree with him. I think Yuja Wang is a talented pianist. Her look for you is a great advantage ... I think, on the opposite, that it is a handicap bc we expect a pianist to be a man in suit and not a pretty young woman with mini-dresses. Do we have to wait that shes old and ugly to praise her art ...? Sad perspective for young woman artist.

Because she loves woman she is with distance the right for Chopin. She understands him and looks into the deepest of his soul. Hard to understand????…the rest….is……silencce
she is indeed gorgeous but as far as her pianism goes here in the e minor chopin I hear a lot of brilliant digital work but not to much on the musical side....... I guess I prefer the Argerich recording with Dutoit the best and am prejudiced

She's getting a lot out of those trills in the left hand at around 17:55, more than most people, but Rubinstein at 85 could still kick her butt on sheer musical/analytical expression. In any case, glad to hear her playing something that one can really sink one's teeth into -- all that Prokofiev and Rachmaninov is so broad and splashy, whereas her real gift is as a miniaturist. (in concert, it's actually hard to hear her over the orchestra in tutti passages, so she might want to steer away from all those Big-Box Concertos). NOTE: to the guy who says Ashkenazy is no good in anything -- I'm sorry, but have you ever HEARD him? I've had out-of-body moments in his concerts, memorably the Chopin 3rd sonata, where I sat no more than six feet away from the keyboard in a stage seat. Also his recording of the etudes is unsurpassed -- if you play, this should be your guide. (He has very small hands, and works around this liability in fascinating ways) However, I agree that he's a rather clueless conductor -- loses the forest for the trees.
Dimitri SEBANOWITZ Dinu Lipatti? Je ne l'entends pas & pourtant... j'adore Yuja Wang, mais pour moi personne ne peut être comparée à M. Lipatti. Il portait son âme avec chaque note.
As much as I love Yuja, her Chopin is not so good. I want to teach her how to play Chopin! >.< Each and every single composer is unique! You must understand the quality, the personality and the taste of the composer's music before you play it. Chopin is elegant, aristocratic, restrained, peaceful, romantic, majestic, and triumphant. You must understand the composer's music first, only then, will you be able to show yourself through his music! Only then will you be able sing!
To be honest i m a great fan of all Gould Beethoven, but as time goes not so much fan of his Bach, even tho i still think they are great , just not my taste. RUBINSTEIN only good in Chopin??? Are you kidding me? Ashkenazy is good in nothing.
