On land, They're in the top 5, maybe top 3; There's some really top-notch operators on our planet. But what makes them so great is that they don't just operate on land or from the air. No one else operates from the water like they do. When it comes to that, No One can touch them.
Your assessment, however, about the best, is accurate.

Mind blowing, every capable person of a nation should have this training, this is the responsibility of their government
    to trained them..

  • @milkduds1001

Wow, amazing that you knew that. So very few people know that fact. Every SOF in the world has some branch of Combat Divers or Diving training but for most SOFs the amphibious parts are optional. For SEALs and SBS it is required and every single man is a Combat Diver. Very few people know that, good to see some do.

Enough with this debate on who the better warrior is. Training is definitely important but what is more important is the man himself. I'm sure there are shit SEALs and shit RANGERS, SAS, etc. The military is not some competition. We all work together to protect ourselves and our country.

RectalDestruction As an American, I disagree. In terms of skill, you physically, mentally, and tactically can't be "shit" by going through Seal or SAS training and completing it. Rangers are a whole different set and can't be compared because they don't claim to be the same caliber as those listed above.

Yes, it was something I had learnt in history, myself and the teacher were talking about how US have the technology but they don't have the best and most demanding in terms of training and we got onto the topic of the French Foreign Legion, how tough their training is supposed to be and how they nearly got wiped out leading up to Vietnam. He brought up the Navy Seals failing the FFL training course and so I assumed he had a decent amount of information to support it.

Few years ago while entering my local federal government building I walked past one of the security guards on point and sensed that he was maybe a vet, when i got upstairs and tryed to enter a area where you have to empty your pockets and go through a metal detector i forgot that I had my kubotan with me and they refused entry because of it and would not keep it for me while there so i went back downstairs and asked that guard i had passed if he would hold it for me so I could go back upstairs and he did, when i went to leave and got my kubotan back i stopped and talked to him for a bit and he asked me a little about myself he revealed to me that he was a seal team 7 member (Retired) and then I knew that I had sensed that there was something special about him when i entered the building.

(Continued) That is what puts a rookie SAS at a disadvantage against a veteran Marine. Experience, the ability to actually apply that training and harness his emotions and fears throughout all the combat he's seen. Real war isn't fun, it's not safe and you don't have a second chance. You make 1 mistake you're dead. Nothing beats that first fight. That is what my cousin told me. His first actual fight he forgot how to shoot a gun because the fear gripped him. He damn near died.

I see that experience is what matters above all else. A US Marine with 10 years of combat experience and something like 5 or 7 tours of duty can kick an SAS Commando's ass if the SAS is fresh out of training, or even if the SAS has 1 or 3 years of experience. You can train your whole life but in the end, if you haven't put those skills to use in years of combat than it means nothing.

SAS and SEALs are both total overkill, and I cant really say that one is better than the other. Although SAS is often though as more elite, I'm sure that most SEALs could complete SAS missions with the same efficiency.
Just from what I'v researched, SAS training focuses more on rapid insertions and Hostage Rescue, while SEALs training focuses more on Combat Diving and Search & Destroy. But they are both good at everything.

Yeah I understand that. Each branch and each unit has a different job and specialize in something. If there is anything elite military units are good at its the basics. The military needs each other, otherwise it would be like a football team with an offense but no defense. You can't win alone.
However, the original comment posted by declan was comparing two military units with pretty much the same job from different countries. Call me a fanboy, but I believe America holds the most skilled

You are probably better off for that. If you break the SEAL code of silence and have a movie made about yourself or write a book then you can make money. I know fast food managers that make more money in a year than a Navy SEAL. The Navy SEAL's of the second gulf war can make money by writing books and negotiating deals with Hollywood because they have never been on a Black Op in their entire career. The Bin Laden raid story and movie Zero Dark Thirty is bullshit. DEVGRU would never divulge such information. The American profiteering government and Hollywood are in cahoots with each other these days.Robert O'neil the guy who claims to have killed Bin Laden is full of shit. The Bin Laden raid was a black op and from what I understand if you divulge details of such classified operations you should find a way to kiss your ass good bye.

129 Enemy combatants voted thumbs down because they know the Seals are out there and it scares the crap out of them.

i remember when they asked me if i wanted to go to the Seals, i turned it down, but i sort of wish i had gone, maybe i would have made it through at least a few weeks of training, it would have been an experience. i guess i knew i wasn't cut out for this stuff.
i served out my 4 years on board ship as a regular navy man.

Mother when I die, do not forget, to bury with me my green beret, I do not want glory and values, nor arches and flowers, I just want over my grave, my commando comrades... Greetings from Hellenic Special Forces :)
